Horizon: Zero Dawn Trailer (Guerrilla, post-apocalyptic pre-historic adventure)

Can't believe people are expecting an announcement trailer/demo to reveal every detail about the world. Until we actually know more than the concept of the game people trying to find inconsistencies are just talking out their asses.

And it's weird that I never see people refusing to play Mass Effect because of all it's bullshit premises (e.g., faster-than-light communication).

Lol true. I don't understand why people are being like this.

Got into work early and I'm watching this while eating breakfast. Goddamn, this looks amazing. Guerrilla's technical prowess attached to an interesting premise like this with good writing is a really exciting combination. I loved the destruction especially, and it was awesome when she tethered the T-Rex to the ground.

So pleased Sony didn't reveal this with a bullshit CGI trailer.

I wonder if this is going to be open-world like say, Elder Scrolls or open-world like DA:I or The Witcher 3. It would be pretty amazing to seamlessly walk from the mountains into an enormous city.

As the prophecy foretold.

the first thing that came to mind when i watched that trailer, this is pretty much it. really jarring visuals, in a good way.

Only negative about the trailer is that she monologued too much other than that, many things especially the rovo dinos all pushed the right buttons.

Interesting contrasting this thread with the latest thread for The Division, a game that many propped up as their GOTS in 2013.

See you back here next E3 for the Horizon "downgradegate" backlash thread?

That was Ubisoft. who is by now a serial downgrader to the point no one trusts their new gameplay reveals. This is Guerrilla, who has a good rep in recent times -- Shadowfall delivered exactly what they showed. Details matter.

Gameplay demo looked stupendous.

Also shows this is pretty far ahead in production.

I interviewed Hermen Hulst when the ps4 was about to be announced in a few months, and killzone mercenary was in the works, and he referenced the new ip then and there. That is over three years ago.

You do realize 90% of male fighters mma in the ufc would beat her easily. Anyway don't wanna derail the thread some more but I guess the best way to explain it is, it's like watching porn I only like boy on girl action, cause Imagine myself being the male, it's just my preference some people prefer girl on girl.

Jesus Christ...

Yep Shadowfall and all the KZ games stick with their gameplay premieres visuals with the exception of the first.

Ubisoft has noticeably stopped giving bullshots since the Watch_dogs and Division downgradeathons scandals were noticed.

Back on topic. This is pretty much tied with Mario Maker as best new IP at the conference but I give it the edge since Mario Maker is based on existing rom hacks to a degree.

Look forward to seeing more from this game.

Do we have an ETA for a release?

Perhaps invoking downgrade directly was a mistake. I merely wanted to illustrate how it only takes a (relatively) short while from a game to go to beloved and anticipated to Gaf pariah. It doesn't even have to be a "downgraded" game.

Gaf shits on Shadowfall all the time, too.

Damn, you quoted my "cereal" before I corrected it. I'm now an idiot on record forever. XD

witcher 3 was more or less like that too. like technically velen and novigrad were the same region, no loading necessary. skellige tho was a different story.

huge ass 'mini' worlds though, i'd be more than satisfied with those sizes in this game. even bigger would be awesome

I watched this not knowing what to expect at all. I heard GG were working on something other than Killzone but that's all I knew. I was legit blown away. I'm not usually an RPG guy but I'm really interested in this. Man, with this and Uncharted 4 Sony has blown me away :0

I hope we get the ability to climb the robo-dinosaurs ala Shadow of the Colossus style.

I think we will since it shows in the concept. And why not? I'm sure they thought about it too.

As for release, I want to say next year. 2017 seems too far off. 2016 will be three years after their last game launch and they already have mutliple teams working under them.

But no rush- especially with new IP. Horizon looks amazing in every way and I want them to take their time with it.

I'm still not sure what the point of your comment was.

How are mecha animals less believable than fantasy dragons?

Sci Fi itself(unless you are going the Star Wars route which is really fantasy) is almost always based around using future scenarios to commentate on present societal or individual issues(which this game hints at heavily in this trailer). So the ability to logically link to the possibility of the future dystopia or downfall is much more paramount then a fantasy where you are going in completely ignoring any such links. With that said....

For one you are dealing with robots which signal a human creator. So you begin to unpack the logic of why exactly human beings or an AI created by humans is building giant dinosaurs instead of any number of more functional or purposeful designs and then how or why such creatures managed to inherit the planet and grow into a primary species. Then you compound the game is pretty much asking you to evaluate this world in a serious manner based on its themes, tone and initial world building.

None of which I would even care about if the game didn't take itself so seriously or hint at a logical connection between their world and the present world.

Dragons are not real but they are established as an evolved creature like any other animal in a world that is completely separate from ours.
