Official Destiny: The Taken King ViDoc – No Legend Is Safe

Played through the base game and was left underwhelmed. Can anyone tell me if this is like Dark Souls II in that the best content is the dlc or do/will the expansions not add enough to make the game feel fleshed out content-wise?

With the base game and nothing else, eventually you will hit a point where you cannot progress any further.

Essentially, if you want to see the full-game and 'max out' your character, this content and the previous expansions are forced.

Just watched the Vidoc looks really good, but I'm in a weird place with Destiny... I own Xbox one standard version played it up to I think Venus? Played it solo and just got a bit burnt out and moved onto other things.

Have heard much better things about House of Wolves and seeing the Vidoc I feel like they are adding more and more high quality content. Is it worth me buying both expacs and then this.

The other thing is I have a PS4 and know few people who are really into it and was thinking should I get just get the legendary edition on PS4 instead...

Destiny has flaws but I don;t get the crazy hate it gets especially here, the game is still really fun with fantastic mechanics.

I think the problems with Destiny have been thoroughly well documented and debated at this point. Some people, such as you perhaps, might not feel that those problems are a big deal to their enjoyment of the game. But they certainly are there, and they do ruin the game for some.

There's definitely a bigger community on PS4 if you don't mind starting over.

On the other hand, Team Bone Zone has me.

I don't know if I want to jump into this or not.

I only played house of wolves for one day, and then got distracted by Witcher 3.

Yeah that has nothing to do with what I said though, the crazy amount of hate this game gets in every thread is ridiculous, just I don't know play something else and stop shitting up destiny threads maybe? I don't post about games I hate and how much I think they suck.

You basically said you didn't get the hate for the game since you think the game is fun.

I'm just telling you not everyone shares that point of view when it comes to this game.

Edit - should people mindlessly shit up Destiny threads? ofc not. Should there be room for being critical of the game, ofc there should.

It looks like the extra shaders and dance moves are only in the most expensive edition that forces you to re-buy old content. :/
That's some cryptarch level fuckery.

Fuck you bungie, ruining my perfect life. Now I have to sit and play Destiny day in and day out again, after The house of wolves I thought I would be done with this game. ahhhhhh it all looks so good!

Yeah but if they feel the need to voice their criticism in every single destiny thread, that's the problem, they said their piece 4 months ago? Cool, but when you go in every thread and start acting like a protester wearing a big ol' sign saying "destiny blows, I suck at end game" blah blah, that is shit posting.

End of the day, the majority of people who shit post about the game just look silly to daily players. "I finished the story mission that game sucked" "if I have to reach end game to fully enjoy the game, it's shit"

It's like damn, get your expectations in check people, the meat always has been and always will be end game.

Even if Destiny 2 comes out with epic cut scenes and story telling, end of the day, the people who play daily do it for the end game, loot and the cooperative team work.

And as far as the $40 price tag... I paid $90 when it came out and played everyday for almost a year straight... I more than got my money's worth. $40 is nothing if you play daily

Let's leave the metadisussion behind, please. Plenty else to discuss.

Destiny is interesting in that it's a rapidly moving target. The list of issues from launch has been whittled down significantly, between the updates and DLC. People who go into Destiny with the $60 retail re-release with all the expansions and updates are getting a wildly better game than shipped last year.

I can only say that Destiny's huge flaws are still important to me and I wanted a proper story but it is *by far* the best co-op experience of my gaming life and I have been playing since Intellivision.

I didn't come from Halo. I hated Halo. I didn't like the core Destiny campaign and the loot system it had then. But the game updates and changes weekly and since then, I ducked my head in every few weeks.

Now, being able to do Nightfalls and Raids with friends and the excellent design of House of Wolves make sure every night I log on, there's new things to do.

After House of Wolves, I'm willing to give The Taken King a play.

And imo, I like the design of Oryx even though its eerily similar to Illidan lol.

I've been slippin' on my guardian advancement. Looks like I'm going to put some hours in this month. I don't want to be too under leveled come expansion day.

Time to go emperor palpatine in this bitch. my warlock is going to get love from me again...after I'm done getting that sleek ass bow and arrow on the hunter.

Gotta get back to destiny this summer before metal gear comes out. Witcher 3 and soon Batman are just taking up all of my gaming time. This looks really good so I want to be prepared. Very hyped for this.

I wish these Playstation timed exclusive deals would stop after Taken King.

The biggest complaint with Destiny is the lack of content, and there is a large group of players who are artificially limited to less of that content.

I have no intention of buying two separate versions of this game, or starting all over again just to see that extra content on time.

Looks like it could be worth the 40 bucks.

The new singleplayer/co-op stuff looks great. Hope to get a chance to try the raid! Still haven't tried the first two.

Adding a CTF like mode is a sure-fire way to get me to the crucible.

It won't. It's that simple sadly. Bungie seem content to continue limiting half their user base just for some extra cash.

I'm on Team Bone Zone and literally don't have enough time to do the stuff I want to. Not that I like missing stuff, but I'll still be here when it shows up.

We know about the name of the fallen language? Where is all this information?

We don't know the name of the language itself.

We do know that the Fallen refer to themselves as Eliksni.

There are efforts to translate the language that are making progress:

There are some other really good threads out there, but I can't seem to find them right now.

I'm hoping websites do a re-review of the entire package. As it stands the $60'taken king deal is dripping with content and value for the new player.

They should avoid doing that so people can see how far Destiny has come in it's journey out of mediocrity.

It has come a long fucking way and I am really happy to see it.

Despite the NeoGAF shout out in the Vidoc, I'm still not convinced yet. I need a lot more content announcement before I buy this $40 expansion.

Will wait until September to pull the trigger.

As a religious Destiny player, I really don't know about this one. Still seeing guardians fighting the same enemies (albeit with a new ghastly coat of paint) over and over, additional pvp modes that would be considered standard among its peers, and at the end of the day it's probably not going to correct the flaws of the game.

The new subclasses does looks very interesting and fun, but the full retail sticker price is giving me second thoughts.

I feel the same way, part of me want to play it because it's still a fun game but there's so many good games coming out in q3-q4 I don't think I have the time for it. At 40 bucks even though I bought the digital deluxe version when destiny launched? No thanks.
At 30 I would probably bite but 40 is a slap in the face when they charge 60 for everything for newcomers.

well, i was looking foward the bonus of the digital limited edition, but the 40 plus dollares with the basegame+exp 1 & 2 for the shadders and cloacks are just dumb ... what about the people that already own the game and play it for one year straight? We must buy what we already own to get some cosmetic stuff that dont chance a thing in the mechanic? come on bungie =(

give us the option to buy it without the basegame and expansions

Ok let me try and understand this.

So I need all the DLC to play this?

But the $40 version only comes with the new content not the old DLC?

But I get the old DLC + Destiny 1.0 + the new stuff for $60?

So my only option is getting the $60 version right?

So in the UK, this is a full price release basically, at £40. It's actually cheaper to buy the Legendary Edition (which is just under £40 on disk online), than it is to just buy The Taken King alone. Bungie/Acti have really been taking the piss with Destiny pricing so far in the UK, but this is daft., and genuinely has me backing off on it.

For comparison, other $40 releases like God of War III Remastered and Ratchet and Clank are £25-35. The Expansion Pass is also £35.

Sorry if I'm late to the game, but it's looking like the regular experience-based level cap has been raised to at least 30, also. They showed off some level 30s with white numbers above their heads. Does this mean light level will grow to 46 or maybe something like 50? Maybe a new type of level above what light provides? Just speculating...

This has yet to be explained. I'm curious as well.

- Armor stat rolls are going to be 1-20 now instead of 10-200.

- Ghost shell slot is now on first page.

- New "artifact" slot under class item slot.
