Persona 5 Trailer 2

Personally, I'm guessing the theme in the first PV is an edited version of the intro theme, and the theme in this one is an early dungeon theme.
That would be my guess as well. It would be a good fit for the kind of action-packed dungeon that the PVs showed. Has that heist vibe to it.

For reference, Persona 3 was announced and the first big set of info came out in March of 2006 and released only 4 months later in July. So when they do a big info spread in the JP mags in the future, then we'll have it 4-5 months down the line.

I think the thing is that the gap is closing. Assuming Persona 5 will have a 4-month media cycle from release date announcement as Atlus have a tendency to do with their Persona games (P4D, P4AU, P3, P4...), that would mean a late October release date if it were to be announced now or next week.

Barring that, it's looking to be a November release (assuming that they'll at least announce the release date next month), and that's when the question about what it means for the North American release of the game arises (i.e. simultaneous release, December release, or delay).

Personally, I'm guessing the theme in the first PV is an edited version of the intro theme, and the theme in this one is an early dungeon theme.

The theme in PV01 was confirmed to be the opening theme of Persona 5 without its vocals a long while back, so that's right. This one's song sounds like a battle theme to me, and not a dungeon theme. Listening to it again with that thought in mind, I can kind of see it both ways. It would have to be a pretty dynamic dungeon, though.

The music in PV1 was the 'instrumental' version of the main theme, so I wonder if this is the instrumental version of the battle theme. I'm incredibly curious to hear how the music in this game sounds with vocals.

Given the way he constructs his battle themes, I don't think this would be a battle-theme (even vocal-less), unless he's making a dramatic shift in his compositional style. Taking his stylistic tendencies into account, the intro is too long (especially for a battle introduction) and too barren, and the very first intro bars are quite sparse and repetitive. Compare this to all the other battle music he's done recently, and it's easy to see that it doesn't really line up with how he does things.

That being said, who knows.

There is absolutely NO REASON why Atlus hasn't found a publisher to get their games out to European fans. If I was a European Atlus fan, I'd be livid. If people are willing to bitch about the smallest things here on GAF and out elsewhere...why not this fact? What makes Atlus immune to criticism of this horrible marketing to their EU fans?

We definitely bitch about them all over. Fuck Atlus. I'm gonna buy Persona 5 asap, hell, I'm probably gonna import from the US and double dip when it's released in the EU because I love these games so much, but fuck Atlus

Love the music and some of the new stuff that we saw. Very exciting and I am definitely feeling the hype. I'm holding out for some sort of special P5 PS4 in either NA or even in JP.

Oh yeah, could be dungeon too. But it fits the battle theme structure of intro-low-chorus of other Persona battle themes. That structure also ensures the player doesn't get to the moment where the chorus kicks in when fighting short battles against weak enemies. The hype isn't there against those and so you don't get to that part of the aong. That would be my guess.

Omg I am losing my shit. Even though they recycled old material -- the music, the new stuff. I can't handle this. I need this game so badly. I need it now.

OMG SO HYPED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fuck Halo 5! This is my most anticipated game of the holidays! (Please release this holiday)

This is so accurate. It's definitely a love-hate relationship

That actually makes it similar to the first version of Reach Out To The Truth they showed in a trailer, much like this one.

Really, this trailer makes me think of that one a lot, only with not even half as many spoilers. Which is really good, considering it's slightly longer(recycled footage non-withstanding).

That wasn't as great as the last trailer but it was still good. Surprised to see my prediction of the ending of the last trailer being the transformation to phantom was actually correct, interested to see if that does actually effect the characters.

I think the trailer's theme is the battle theme. You can hear at parts where it sounds weak and vocals are suppose to be.

There's something about that first trailer that just "wowed" me, I honestly think in my mind that it's one of my favorite trailers ever. Just super stylish and gave me just enough info for me to get really excited for the game.

Yeah, it was the perfect way to reveal the game. Ample gameplay footage to show some real advancement in the graphics/dungeons systems, ridiculous amounts of style with the music and menus, and just enough left mysterious to pique the imagination.

This trailer, though? I'll take the music and that's about it :-p

It's disappointing that Atlus hasn't done anything to capitalize on that initial buzz. But no matter what happens, the game will consume our lives the moment it drops.

I think part of it was that it was the first gameplay reveal so it was great finally seeing something. It was also just a really fantastic trailer.

Surpassing PV01 was an impossibility because there was 6 years of anticipation leading up to it. It completely subverted everyone's expectations based on what they showed when they announced Persona 5 and what they showed at the SCEJ conference in 2014. Combined with the Persona Super Live 2015 and News Flash! 2015 events leading up to it, PV01 was massive. We know the gist of what Persona 5 is now, so we kind of knew what to generally expect for PV02.

Keeping that in mind, I think PV02 does a good job of following it up. It ties back to the SCEJ conference teaser more explicitly, and it builds upon what we saw in that trailer. I wouldn't mind if subsequent Persona 5 trailers used the same format, and continuously built upon previous trailers in order to create a clearer image of the premise up to the game's release.

Everything looks awesome so far, only thing I'm worried about is the cast being only compiled of 4x characters? They haven't shown any other key characters unless all the scenes showed off so far are from the beginning of the game.

Shigenori Soejima:
We still have a lot left to show, so hopefully people keep an eye on us and wait to see what’s coming up. Chief among those, in fact, are more allied characters that we have yet to show, but I’d say that we won’t be running out of new stuff to reveal anytime soon. So stay hyped and sit tight until we finally get this game out in your hands!

I'm pretty sure this is the case. A lot of the scenes look like the main character just starting to try out his new powers, plus the characters don't have much HP in battles either.

Also, they really haven't shown much of anything yet. We don't know how city exploration works, don't know what changes they've done to Persona fusion or battles, nothing on Social Links, nothing extensive from the dungeons, know next to nothing about the story, etc. Characters are just another thing we're in the dark about.

I noticed something odd btw, when the Anne and Morgana crit they do low dmg like 6 and 4 but when we see Ryuji crit it's 89....do you think he doesn't join the group till later? We might get our first party member as a girl.

It totally reads: Persona 5 September 8th, 2015 4 the states.

It could be like Reach Out to the Truth's first-battle version. It has a slightly longer intro to accomodate the nav dialogue of the first battle. The rest is constructed in a similsr structure to other battle themes, be it Time to Make History or Mass Destruction. Intro, low, chorus as I said. The low part with vocals will be against all enemies, chorus and hypest moment will be heard against normal battles, not the short ones against weak enemies that take 10 seconds to beat.

I think cat is the first party member.

And lol, nice ninja edit on the names

I just hope enough gamers become aware of this title. I see alot of buzz on this forum but I don't know of anyone in real life who knows about the series. I'll be preordering a digital copy if possible.

Nah, the construction of Reach Out to the Truth's intro is way different than what we're hearing here.

Though idk with extended versions and yadda yadda, it's closer to that I suppose.

I just don't like the beginning of this song at all, but once it's past that the song just gels so sexily. It's almost a crime to have such a bad intro for what becomes such a kick-ass song.

Thank you.

Meh, I'd probably be a lot more annoyed if the PS4 wasn't region free. But yeah, it's difficult to comprehend Atlus' actions when it comes to western marketing, it's not like we're talking about only a handful of fans.

Like Yukari? They're just showing off assets. I don't think the damage finished displaying before switching to the other characters.

I love the game making part of Atlus. However the marketing part is full of damn morons. Gotta respect the folks at Atlus US who have to deal with those guys.

I wouldn't put too much stock in individual damage numbers. They were probably using debug features to compile the video footage.

With less than 6 months from 2016, yeah, the marketing has been stupid as hell. We got one trailer in February, one leaked trailer in June and the promise of 2015 for both Japan and North America. Get it together. You missed showing anything off at the biggest North American gaming event just so you could get a few extra sales for your Vita game... like was that worth it?

wut

where is all this misplaced rage at Atlus's marketing coming from?

Mostly from them deciding to forgo unveiling this trailer(or a trailer of this caliber) at E3 and the fact that they don't seem to try to do much for European branches of their audiences.

wut

where is all this misplaced rage at Atlus's marketing coming from?

Because they released a trailer for their biggest ever game exclusively with first print copies of their dancing spinoff game that's only available in Japan and for a dying platform?

They only did the trailer for first copies of the Japanese dance spin-off P4 game on the Vita. I really doubt that was their attempt at marketing. Like other people have mentioned, I expect Atlus will keep their cards close to their chest until they do a massive blowout of information.

That comment was uncalled for, but there's been a lot of stuff lately that puts some of the decisions into question, like removing the Persona 4: Dancing All Night opening videos from YouTube and even doing that to Polygon's video (as well as decimating a bunch of other videos lately). Or this PV02 trailer that was bundled with P4D that would inevitably leak like this and make for a lesser reveal than if Atlus had released it to the public themselves. Or (speculation) deciding against being featured in a montage at the E3 press conference for upcoming Sony games.

It'd be interesting to know how many copies of P4D the Persona 5 special movie Blu-ray ends up boosting.
