Batman: Arkham Knight On PC Is Not Very Good [UP: WB suspends future sales until fix]

Who is responsible for this mess of a port?

  • Create a negative review on Steam BEFORE you get a refund.
  • Add negative reviews for previous Warner Bros titles. Hit them in the catalog, not just with this title.
  • Get a refund.
  • Report the product on Steam (flag icon next to the Share and Embed buttons on the page). Report it as "Broken"
  • If you bought from a non-Steam source (such as GMG), ask for a refund anyway. It might feel like you're wasting your time, but GMG isn't ever going to create refunds unless there's demand. And trust me, with enough customer support tickets, GMG will put pressure on Warner Bros.
  • Report Warner Brothers to the Better Business Bureau.
  • If you know anyone in the video game press, ask them to cease all coverage of Arkham Knight until the PC issues are resolved.
  • Don't let threads in gaming communities fail
  • Use social media for public shaming of Warner Brothers. Commit to some reasonable schedule. Don't harass or threaten them, simply state your disappointment every few days.

Alternatively, you could try this:
  • Get a refund and move on with your life.
Seriously? Adhering to a schedule of social media complaining? Purposely posting bad reviews for unrelated games that the publisher is involved with? C'mon now, it's just a videogame.

the video WB probably sent them to use in their trailer.

Ok then why hasn't Nvidia spoken out? Made a statement?

They released trailers, themselves, of a 60fps version of the game with all of the missing effects and slapt "Nvidia" all over it. There needs to he some damn accountability over this and journalists should be diving in figuring out what happened.

Bull crap. The other Arkham games sold like 2 million copies each on PC. That isn't chump change at all. They are making bank off of us, and the fact they have the balls to release a port so obviously awful is a fucking slap in the face to every one of us who have purchased their products.

WB need to feel the heat on this one and they need to feel it hard. Nvidia too honestly. What build was in your fucking trailers Nvidia?

Probably just a video they got. Or they have some godlike pc that costs tens of thousands of dollars and can run anything and is also sentient

When are publishers going to wake up about release schedules exactly? Why don't they take their time? Surely isn't that wiser than having to spend more money fixing shit you know you're pushing a team to release unfinished?

Hopefully, the negative sentiment in social media costs them money as well. People could have been talking about how much they enjoy the game and the Arkham brand could have been strengthened, but now it is all about this awful port.

Didnt Lords of the Fallen also use the Denuvo DRM and it also had a ton of problems?

And why didnt I hear that this game uses Denuvo before it was released?

Because they don't do that? I've yet to see them speak out when some studio released a bad game with their effects. Which except for the rain one are all in the game, no? But that's on the porting house cuz the rain shader is missing.

See my post above. Then they need to make a statement. They gave us trailers with their logo's claiming this is what the game looks like, and it looks nothing like it.

This industry is a complete joke. There is no accountability anywhere and no "journalists" hardly on the front lines trying to get this shit figured out. Games launch non stop broken and no one does anything about it. Its pathetic

I don't think Denuvo causes problems inherently, DA:I had it and I thought that ran well enough for the most part. But it might cause problems when combined with a shoddy/rushed port job.

Seriously? Just wow.

They did delayed the game. I bet they could not wait any longer and the PC version was, sadly, low priority during all the development cycle.

Yeah I'm aware but the delay they granted still doesn't seem anywhere near reasonable if this was the result. 'Delays' really ought to be indefinite.

Hopefully, the negative sentiment in social media costs them money as well. People could have been talking about how much they enjoy the game and the Arkham brand could have been strengthened, but now it is all about this awful port.

Yeah it's a shame that a franchise like Arkham should have to deal with this kind of crap in the end. They've gone and Two Faced us. Now there is simply shame.

I'd almost forgive them if they actually did a parody wherein some guy dresses up as Batman and takes the blame.

'I ported that version. Call it in'.

Jesus Christ, they made a bad PC port. They didn't kill your dog. Money talks. Get a refund and move on. Writing negative negative reviews for other games is fucking pathetic and just hurts devs who had nothing to do with this PC port.

Sounds like false advertising to increase those GPU sales. NVidia isn't innocent in all of this either.

Everything is fine in this list except the second point about slamming past games that's just stupid. As for everything else it's your time and you can pretty much do what you want with it.

Holy shit, REALLY?

If this was any other industry, and a massive scale product that will be released globally launched totally fucked after being advertised for well over a year there would be hard hitting questions everywhere. We are in a climate where "journalists" for the most part are flown out for preview and reviewe dates, get free swag all the time, and never hit these people hard.

We hear "oh game development is hard". "It takes more work than you know!"

You are releasing broken fucking products to the public and NO ONE is doing anything about it or even hammering these people to find out who, what, when, and where caused this.

Nope, we'll just get another Master Chief Collection. Another Assassins Creed Unity. Etc. Etc

What a glorious disaster. Like everyone else I don't know yet who to blame for this, but... that won't stop me from giving it a try! Bwahaha!

1st place: WB, because I've disliked their anticonsumer practices for a while now and I've been itching to find a place of honour for them in my shit list. Well, this is it: you made it guys.

2nd place: Rocksteady. I don't even care if the "suits" of WB forced then to outsource the pc port: they fucked up. It is still their baby, their logo at the start of the game.

3rd place: Iron Galaxy. Kind of feeling bad for them, since they're the easiest target. Maybe they messed up, maybe they didn't... one thing for sure is that this port is the first thing that will come to my mind whenever I see their name/logo in the future.

so no thanos?

Exactly. This post, right here, is an example of why we as gamers will continue down this rode. This attitude. Look at it well and remember it. Its ok if your product launches out of the box fucked. Relax in a couple weeks everything will be ok

Except this is broken in PC, not in other platforms. AC Unity was broken everywhere and MCC was a Xbos exclusive.

Is news that is worth asking about and denunce the shitty port, but let's not go full hyperbole.

Game journalists need publishers, as without them, they have no job. So they play nice, and don't jump to the side of the consumer.

Have you ever tested early games?

You completely ignored my post considering you spent two thirds of yours restating what I said.

What I'm saying is that people throw the word "optimization" around like infinite code monkeys on infinite keyboards can eventually get Crysis running on a Commodore. Shouting "just optimize it!" is going to be worthless as long as Iron Galaxy is still handling the port and as long as the game is outright MISSING FEATURES AND MODELS from the console versions. There's no reason to suspect the problems don't go further than just rote magical "optimization." Extra post-release debt time didn't fix AC Unity, it didn't fix Master Chief Collection, and it's not going to fix this.

You really should be blaming the publishers for creating ridiculous and unachievable deadlines rather than the devs themselves.

Here's another example. Its just PC. Its ok guys consoles are fine.

Lets all go run out and pre order the next big thing. Who gives a damn if it works. Patches are coming!

I shouldn't even get mad anymore, gamers are doing this to themselves. They are being treated like second class citizens and eat it up. I guess its useless to even give a shit anymore

Imagine a world where video game journalists actually did this kind of investigative reporting. Where they were actually watch-dogs for their audiences rather than PR mouthpieces for companies. Where they not only gushed over how much they love games, but also held devs and pubs to the fire when they acted poorly... I so wish we could count on them to properly jump on a situation like this. Unfortunately there's very little of this kind of thing out there. (Probably very little demand too sadly.)

You really should be blaming the publishers for creating ridiculous and unachievable deadlines rather than the devs themselves.

I blame everyone involved with messes like this. The publisher, the dev team, and the journo's to afraid to actually get involved and hold people accountable.

They did? Lol, nvidia not looking great.

Yeah they did and have since gone into hiding. Not unexpected but they're not some innocent lamb in all this either. Many people bought 970s and up for this game. Its like they were playing on a different build for all their Game Works videos because by now people have scrutinized the footage compared to the final build and it doesn't add up.

I even speculate GMG might have had a heads up about this port, some kind of insider information because they had 40% discounts on the game and/or season pass just before release. That's a pretty big discount for one of the year's most anticipated and hyped games. But that's my own pet conspiracy theory.

yeah seriously... much more important things need this kind of focus and resolve than a damn vidja game that will most likely work fine in a couple weeks.

This is a flawed way of thinking. We shouldn't be okay with the game being jank on the day after release. We shouldn't "relax" because the game will be ready to go a few weeks later instead of on release day.

I rarely pre order. And second class citizens of what? NintendoSonyXbox Nation? I'm just saying that you have legit reasons to complain but not many people are going to scream "Doomsday is Coming!" outside of mainly PC centric gamers for a bad PC pot.

This is a terrible post.
People here paid for a product and the quality of said product is not as advertised. They, as consumers, are well within their right to a refund and the companies involved should be shamed.

In general yes, this industry treats its consumers like second class citizens. How many fluff pieces about how great AK is have been or will be written? How fast were "journalists" rushing out to put up every new bit of info they could about this game.

Now ask yourself, how many of them are on the phone right now asking WB, Rocksteady, IG, etc. what went wrong.

This isn't journalism. Its fans that have lucked out and now write mostly nice things about a hobby they enjoy and will occasionally get mad and make a fucking YouTube rant but refuse to actually get in the publishers face and demand accountability. After all they cant miss out on that free review copy of the next game to stream on Twitch now can they?

I think it's super messed up that people paid good money for this game, invested in the hardware and end up getting the stuttering mess that has been shown in some of these youtube video's. That is simply not okay, and I believe you have a right to complain and ask for a refund...

But I gotta be honest, the way some people react to this... nearly declaring war and asking for "damages"? Makes it kinda hard to be on the "duped gamers" side in this. Just saying.

I was going to get the PS4 version but, even though I know that one seems to be fine, this whole mess kinda soured me on the game. So that's at least one sale down untill this get fixed, which I hope (for everyone involved) is sooner rather than later. :)

Yes, get a refund. Send a note to WB and tell them your $60 is going to a better game if you feel like it. Then move on.

No need to rage about it or set Google Calendar reminders for public shaming.

You mean the same discount they had for The Witcher 3?

Your "pet theory" is absolute nonsense.
