Warner Brothers suspends [new] purchases for PC version of Batman Arkham Knight

Calling it now, Ubisoft will pull all games from Steam in the near future due to the refund function.

"The Steam Refund functionality devalues our brands" or some such nonsense.

AC:U had bugs initially like that missing face dealio, though no downgrade the game looked fucking unbelievable. Far Cry 4 was sparkling clean though.

Bugs were present in every version. From the beginning, AC: Unity performed very nicely on PC hardware and looked amazing while doing so.

They have a solution to that, activate it on uPlay as well as Steam so you can't get a refund.

The guy I know has been getting death threats. People always take it too far

EU is starting to regulate refunds.

Valve is just getting ahead of those regulations.

Man I went from doubting we would ever get a good version of this game, to being kind of confident we will eventually get one. If they are willing to pull the entire game from sale, it shows they are taking it seriously at least.

They need to NOT RUSH this. I know people are mad and want to play, but we've seen what happens. They need to take their time and make sure this is crafted well.

I've been following this story all day since I have the day off from work and it's 100 degrees outside. I am really curious as to who is going to fall on the sword. Was this WB putting pressure on Rocksteady to get it out the door so they sent a rush job to Iron Galaxy and told them ship it no matter what with WB none the wiser? Did Rocksteady tell WB the PC port was not ready? Did Iron Galaxy rush it out without telling WB or RS that it was unfinished?

I mean, who is to blame for all this? A publisher pulling a game from retail is HUGE so I suspect WB had no idea. Rocksteady has such a great track record with the Batman games so....but I can't see IG just sending out a piece of garbage without their employer knowing the state it was in.

It's like a goddamn movie.

Upset people tend to not exhibit the best reasoning, especially on the internet. It's a shame if Rocksteady or IG take the heat if WB didn't do their due diligence. No one knows though, so all parties are taking heat.

Iron Galaxy, as much as I think their previous work was good, deserves heat for this. If they weren't given a reasonable timeframe, they should have turned down the work. Maybe they couldn't for financial reasons, but given that they had KI Season 2 they should have been ok.

Has he said anything about the state of the office right now? Additionally has he said anything about the development time they were given by WB? It's easy to blame the port devs but I'm wondering if they were rushed to deadline by the publisher.

As much of a shitshow as this is, they eventually got the kinks worked out of MKX on PC. I think this will get there after a number of patches.

Thankfully, I got this for free. But I'd definitely be getting a refund if I had bought it and buying it on sale later.

And throw away the opportunity to make millions of dollars? Doubtful.

Well, there are really 2 possible outcomes here. 1) They learn from it, and take the time in the future to make sure their games are of good quality so they won't be refunded like crazyand end up making money, or 2) they just pull out all together deciding the ROI isn't worth the extra cost of making sure they put out a competent product. They hired Iron Galaxy for a reason, I'm guessing it's because they were cheap.

So for anyone wondering if this is going to be a quick fix. This is now posted on the steam page.

"Batman: Arkham Knight will be available on SteamOS, Linux and Mac in Fall 2015."

This has been on the page for months. They were just announcing it would be on non-Windows platforms later in the year.

I think it's always said that. The PC version just came out first.

He has kept it vague and within his NDA.

GMG is shady as fuck. They would not let me purchase from then and asked me to send pictures of my credit card.

They're thinking you're making a fraud purchase. This (taking picture of CC) is a rather common practice in many places (especially web hosting). I wont call them shady because of this.

I don't know who should bear most of the "blame" but I certainly wouldn't be surprised if WB is mostly to blame. Most of the IG work I'm familiar with has been good.

Hopefully they don't ignore the additional rain effects and AO and just focus on performance, which of course they need to.

I like my effects. PC gamer and advertising and all, WB.

Scrap the fucking denuvo drm.

I agree generally speaking. If you know it's not a feasbile task you don't take the work. It is possible, however, they took the work with good intentions, a reasonable time frame and everything in place to make it work, but something out of their control on the WB/Rocksteady side threw a wrench in things. Or not. No way of knowing.

I may be wrong and please correct me if I am, but weren't the major bugs present in all versions of the game, indicating a WB Montreal problem and not an Iron Galaxy problem?
Yeah the 360 version was unplayable pre-patch. Great game though, a shame that it's not in the remastered collection, it deserves it, some people in the OT are saying it's as good if not better than AK.

I've never had someone ask me for a picture of my credit card before. Doesn't seem secure.

You cannot blame IG in all this
It's a horrible port but it's whoever green lighted it. There could be many reasons for this port to be awful, but it's up to the higher ups to bite the bullet. Who ever was doing the QA for this port regardless of what his bosses said is going to bite the bullet for this. If you are testing this game and releasing it on the PC Market you are also putting your name next to it. In corporate structure you are the guy who is pinned with the blame even though it's like you are not actually making the decision.
IG is definitely should not get the majority of the blame. I don't think they would be in control of the quality control someone above must approve this and in such a case no doubt someone from Rocksteady/WB was in charge of that.
