I had that issue. I fixed it by cleaning the pins on the motherboard. It actually was a pretty easy process!

http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/dreamcast-random-reset-and-common-fixes/
If the discs are okay, it could be a problem with the connector of the power board. Easy to fix.
stick a reasonably heavy book on the lid. that fixed my reset issues for me.

Thanks. One has a broken disc motor, but the other if fine aside from the random resetting. I'll give those pins a bend and clean.

corey marshall (with a proper translation and voice director)
ps4 physical tier
1+2 hd collection

all 3 plz

I don't think I would be able to handle it. If they are able to work something out with SEGA before the campaign ends for an announcement of I and II HD, I think it would be huge.

if they haven't been trying to do this since day 1, they're idiots
it's beneficial to both parties
if 1+2 hd get announced, more people will pledge to 3 knowing that they can actually play 1+2
and everyone interested in 3 is gonna buy that 1+2 collection from sega, so they can see what shenmue is or get caught up on the story before 3 comes out

Well I know at first they were saying that they weren't in a spot to comment on that (which is legitimately true, as they have no rights to I or II), but Yu has mentioned that he will try to talk to SEGA. That was during the Twitch stream last week, and he made it sound like he hadn't done so yet at that point, so I'd be very surprised if something was discussed/worked out so quickly.

corey marshall is already in negotiations!

4 million would be a nice boost for sure.
yeah definitely. part of the reason it's been so slow is because we haven't hit any stretch goals for a whole 500k. 4 million and onwards should be okay so long as we get there this week. it's trying to get to 6 million that might be hard.

the good voice directing is key though!
for as much as i want corey and the hokey english acting because i'm weird and find it endearing(also nostalgia), i don't think thats the best way to make this game successful with new fans. they need the acting to be good
but if it's corey, its sort of a win for old fans and new

yeah, same voice actors adds consistency. i think they'll probably do what they should have done for the first game and just do the english VO in LA

That's what I've been saying for days. One of the goals Shenmue III must accomplish is to create new fans. And I'm not sure that bad voice acting is the way to go.

Yea I think Corey is perfectly fine. It was a product of the tech at the time and perhaps the VA direction. Yu can be there to oversee, but put it in the hands of someone that can get the best result.

For me though the voice acting of the games has always added a great deal to the experience. I will be fine with whatever the outcome is.

^ Unfortunately there was no time frame provided. I assume today, but even that is speculation.

Pretty much. Soon could be anything. He did follow up with this to someone asking when it would be live though:

I have to ask an ignorant question: Is the Kickstarter open to fans from all around the world or just in the West? In other words, I'm wondering if the $3.7 mil raised so far is inclusive of donations from all around the world.

Why are there negotiations anyways? Corey Marshall made a video to get Shenmue on Clueless Gamer, so he obviously supports Shenmue III.

Suzuki: "Want to voice Ryo in Shenmue III?"

Corey: "Sure, you bet."

Done. I really don't think money should an issue. It's really just fan service at this point.

Yes and no. Banking and card restrictions stop many people from contributing in many countries.
Also Kickstarter is very western oriented which is why they have instructions setup on their site for Japanese fans.

i think anyone outside of the US donates and it just converts to us currency because that's where the campaign is being "run"

Kickstarter is global. All fans, across the globe.

Edit: ah hell, beaten like a wet rag at an arm wrestling mini-game.

kind of all around the world, but i believe there are some people waiting for paypal because credit cards/debit cards are uncommon in their country. also kickstarter is kind of an oddity in japan, and a lot of the comments on the project are in english.

I believe it should be worldwide but funnily I came up with a near similar question... Are people from Japan contributing to this, especially since the Dreamcast was massive over there? In this case, I am referring to Japanese locales. I have a feeling that tons of people really want Shenmue but they just don't like pledge to campaign such as this. It doesn't matter the title nor the product, they only prefer to buy the product soon as it is available in the stores. However, what I really believe is a problem is Kickstarter itself in respect to Banking and payment restrictions in countries and lack of localisation.

Don't mistake continued indie support for DC shooters as the Dreamcast being massive in Japan. It sold more in America in less time on the market. America has two near million sellers, while Japan never came close, either.

I think they can back if they're willing to pay the currency adjusted price and international shipping, but Shenmue is regarded as being a lot more popular in the West so I don't know how much interest there really is in Japan.

Can't wait for Shenmue 3!

A reminder: Every one of the bonus items you can get on the Kickstarter will be worth it's weight or double in $$$ on eBay. Think of it as an investment if you're not a collector.

A lot of people have been complaining about how this was all managed but I think a lot of us have forgotten the most important part which is that Shenmue III is coming. For anyone feeling a bit down, I'd suggest you watch the reveal at E3 again.

On Nico there are videos made by fans trying to rally up pledges and hyping Shenmue Kickstarter, so I am sure there are some Japan pledges.

Was playing Shenmue last night. Am I the only one here that honks at Goro every time you pass him while driving your forklift? I mean, they gave us a horn button... We gotta use it for something. My wife thinks I'm crazy for acknowledging an NPC in a video game.

Also, if anyone wants to have a side chat about the lost potential of what we could have had with Shenmue Online, I made a thread:

A more important goal is for it to be Shenmue 3, and these voices are a part of Shenmue. The English voice acting will be better by default this time.

is the guy with the sideburns from the twitch stream the guy who is dubbing this interviews? haha
it sounds like him on the masahiro yoshimoto video

Will have to rewatch but it wouldn't surprise me. The person reading stutters in a number of cases.

I live in Europe. For us European players, only Shenmue 1 had an English dub. Shenmue 2 had the Japanese dub and it was WAY better. I'm not that attached to the English voices. I just want them to be good.

Yeah the yen is kinda weak right now so it may be more than they are willing to pay with currency conversion.

yeah but for this to have any chance in hell of being successful in the usa, it's gonna need an english dub haha

Hyped for the announcement. Predictions: either the PS4 physical edition that has seen overwhelming demand or Yu working out a deal with Sega for a Shenmue 1 and 2 HD re-release. Either of those announcements would be megatons and jolt some energy in to the campaign. Just excited because if the announcement truly is a megaton that should see donations surge which is what this campaign so desperately needs right now. I'll be watching this thread like a hawk hoping to see the announcement at some point today.

You guys think the announcement will be today?

I'm also in Europe and played the second game on Dreamcast. It'd still be too bad if they changed the more distinctive and memorable/hilarious English VAs.

If they don't get Corey Marshall back, just give me the Japanese voices.
