I ain't even going to the fall classic!

You're just that good that you don't even have to attend to make top 8. ;D

I said they won't look any older. They will look 16 years old but the game will say they are 24.
Yeah, outside of the alpha transition none of the cast have really shown any real signs of aging so I'm not particularly sure why people are fussed about one or two individuals breaking a rule none of the others have bothered to follow without raising comment :3

"Hi, I'm eating an inner-tube-sized doughnut as an homage to the missing physics-busting hole I once rocked in my mohawk."

Birdie's going to be awful lonely if no more goofballs show up.

Definitely, if they don't add some in the 'core' roster I at least expect silliness in some of the added characters later down the line :3

totally off topic but your semi-realistic popeye avatar disturbs me on a deep, deep level :o

I'd say Ryu, Ken and Chun-Li in the Alpha series look younger than they do in the SF3 games. I'm general it's pretty much true though.

Personally the place they are on in the timeline would make them young adults by the time 4/5 rolls around so I'd prefer that was reflected, but at the end of the day, it's not really that big of a deal. I want to play as Karin again, if she's 24 I'll be happy, if she's magically still 16 I'll still be happy.

I don't know about you guys, but I'd eat the hell out of that doughnut.

You could live off that thing for months holed up somewhere in a bunker. One of those "sprinkles" alone is like a daily-survival sugar stick. Forget where he stashes it during the fight... who bakes these bodacious badboys?

I definitely rember some grumbling about her appearance and how she belonged in an SNK game when she was first revealed, but it's largely died out over the years.
That is definitely not a bad thing in my books.
Lol. Reila. Just imagine if it did go down in that direction. It'd be a first for a fighter. One that I'd love as well.

A samba dancer? That would be too hype! I welcome all dance inspired fighters! xP

What type of stereotypes would those be? :V
A skimpy dressed "sexy" Brazilian woman would make me groan, I admit. I am not asking for the character to be ugly/unattractive, but you know, Brazilian women do wear clothes >_>

Also, I hope you aren't hating on Hakan.

Who were the new characters of Street Fighter IV?
Juri, C. Viper, Poison, Elena, Hugo, Decapre?

And aren't we getting many more characters as DLC and unlockables after the initial release anyway?

Hugo and Elena are from Street Fighter 3 (actually, Hugo and Poison are from Final Fight, but that is not a fighting game per se). Poison was first playable in Street Fighter x Tekken.

Abel
C. Viper
Decapre
El Fuerte
Gouken
Hakan
Juri
Oni
Poison
Rufus
Seth

They were all first time playable in SFIV.

Can anyone make out what Necalli is saying in his intro? Is it just a language I can't recognize (which would be pretty cool if he is a Jojo-inspired Pillar Man-like figure)?

The subtitle is "Devour-our-our" and it sounds like it -could- be "食らうらう" ("Kurau-rau") in Japanese, but that would be more like "Eat this-this."

Maybe it's just Capcom localization taking liberties.

Yeah, that's it!

Ken Bogard didn't really gave them the locations. From top of my head, he were talking about trying to get more customers bases in Asia, Africa and South America (or Brasil at best) Someone decided to make safe guesses where the newcomers would come from. Someone really need to find the post with all information with neutral facts.

Edited: Found it.

- Time / Weather effects in stages
- Release date : 2016, before the end of the fiscal year.
- Unreal Engine 4
- The new mechanic is named V-Trigger : You can change your stance.
- 16 characters
- No Super Street Fighter 2X + EX (Updates kinda like League of Legends / Killer Instinct)
- The story mode will be way much better, they know they f***** up with sf4.
- The PC version is here mostly because they want to bring the game to Latin America, South Asia, Africa...

Well, the post everyone keeps talking about that started this all is right here: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=143302117&postcount=1076

Okay I have a couple of rumors for you GAF. They are probably true.

Ken Bogard is well-known in the french VS fighting community. He's a fighting games commentator and also has a weekly show about VS Fighting on french Web TV "Gaming Live". He apparently has a source at Capcom. All the infos he had in the past turned out to be true and he's not the kind of guy who spread out ridiculous rumors.

So take the following as you want GAF, but I'm 100% trusting that dude.

He also has a weekly "shiny hunting" Pokemon show on that web tv. So on his December 5th Show, while playing, he talked a lot about Street Fighter V. He said he knew stuff and that he'll discretely drop hints during the show. Here's what he said:

- Street Fighter V won't have "Super" or "Hyper" editions. Just updates. He doesn't know if these updates will be free or DLC and does not know if they'll be balancing updates or will add characters and stages.
- The number of characters in the starting roster will be between SFIII and SF IV. He knows the number but not the returning cast.
- There'll be 4 new characters and he knows 3 of them.
- Focus Attacks won't return.
- It'll be released in 2016 and that the month is easy to guess. (He said to think about japanese fiscal years).

Then he dropped some interesting clues. He usually nicknames his Pokemon with stupid joke names but not this time.

3 of his pokemons were nicknamed

- Rachid
- Zen
- Laura

We can assume these are the 3 new fighters he knows about. He also kept mentioning 3 places in the world and he said "there was a reason": Brasil, Africa and India. We can assume Rachid is from Africa, Zen will be from India and Laura from Brasil.

He also named another Pokemon "V-Trigger" which is probably the name of the new SFV mechanic.

So, you know everything. I repeat, I think we can 100% trust Ken Bogard but don't forget either: we're still early in development, things can change.

tl;dr: RUMOR (which I believe is true) French VS fighting commentator seems to have info about SFV. Launch date 2016. No new versions, just updates. 4 new characters: Rachid (Africa), Zen (India), Laura (Brasil) and one more. New mechanic called V-trigger.

I'd look for the actual pokemon episodes but I don't know any french anyhoo :3

Your post just made me realise we never actually see him bite the donut. It's crazy but you might actually be onto something about that Donut's origins :o

Birdie has a known taste for metal observed during his chain-chomping intro so either way he's going to eat that big ol' donut!

There is other translation that someone have done. So I don't know if he actually said Brazil and India.

The commentator in the video says that he believes that characters will come to the countries where the game is being developed.

He expects that new characters will come for...

A character for a country from the North of Africa,
A character for a country from South America,
A character for a country from Central Asia OR possibly a character from South Asia.

Which means he doesn't know how the characters actually look which puts in question how much he actually knows, specially considering he only leaked a specific number of things.
It was just a dumb mistake I think. There's no chance they would reveal a Brazilian character anywhere but at the Brasil Game Show. He didn't put 2 and 2 together.

So yeah, the R.Mika comments were purely his opinion, not a confirmation of anything, so the Siliconera rumours are still on the table.
Didn't he say also that any list with R Mika was fake or something? Maybe down the road his source told him more about the roster... I wish the roster would leak already..

To be honest, the siliconera rumours are so vague that it's hard to really take them off the table. All they literally say is we're getting Alex, Urien, Mika and Karin as playable characters. There's no timescale or context given so even if none of the 4 were in the core roster it wouldn't be invalidated as they could easily be DLC :o

edit:

No. I found a comment on a video date AFTER he said the whole 'any list with Mika in it is probably bullshit' where he stated emphatically again that he did not know the returning cast members. He was really quite adamant about it and seemed upset that the video in question would even hint that he did XD
Also found someone mentioning this:
Someone pressed Ken Bogard on this and he admitted that he knows nothing about the rest of SF5's roster, ergo the R. Mika thing was his own speculation figuring Capcom would never bring her back and people blew it out of proportion.

Exactly. Sometime vague rumors/leaks are actually good. Like Smash rumors, they were not specific enough, such as like Duck Hunt is in, Bowser Jr is in with 7 different koopaling alts, Shulk having 5 modes, etc, etc. Edited: I might be wrong.

So I got more info...
Unless my friend is pulling my leg, there's some pretty crazy crap left to be revealed.

-Snake, Lucas, Ice Climbers (Why), and Wolf are cut
-Doctor Mario is back as a clone
-Dark Pit is a newcomer as a clone
-Each character gets 8 alternate costumes, whether they be pallet swaps or new costumes.
-Alph appears as 4 of Olimar's costumes, while the other 4 are Olimar's.
-Shulk will be playable with Gaur Plains as his stage, his neutral B changes his Monado mode which essentially makes him dish more damage and take more, or do less damage, and take less.
-Bowser Jr appears as a new comer and allegedly fights from a mario kart... has no alt colors, but instead has the 7 koopalings as alts.
-Duck Hunt is in... from what I've been told it's the duck hunt dog fighting with ducks on his back who assist for certain attacks...

*Edit more info
-Shulk has like 5 different mode swaps
-Bowser Jr rides in a koopa kart that attacks with cannon balls and boxing gloves and stuff that eject from the clowns mouth.

Again, there are few leaks that are specific with characters like SSF4 leak.

The game is now being called 'Super Street Fighter 4' in most circles. Here's a bulleted rundown of the stuff that's being rumored. Get your salt shaker out and keep a steady supply coming — because the list you read below is confirmed in no way, shape or form.
The previously leaked characters are all said to be in the game. Dee Jay, T. Hawk, Dudley, Ibuki, Makoto, Adon, Cody and Guy. The new characters are rumored to be:
Hakan - An Arabic grappler obsessed with oil.
Juri - Evil Asian girl fighter working for Seth.
All characters will have two Ultras. They will both be available at one time, not selectable like with Third Strike's Super Arts. The commands to execute your Ultras do not overlap.
It sounds like the characters from Third Strike are set up with their prior Super Arts. They had three in that game, so one will be their Super and the other two their Ultras.
Gen has four Ultras because of his two fighting styles. One of these is said to be an Air Ultra.
All characters still have one Super, except Sakura who apparently has a Shinkuu Hadoken (Super Fireball) as well.
Some characters will have Air Ultras.
The Bonus Stages will be returning.
This will be an exclusive arcade release at least for a few months.
An official announcement is said to be coming at the Tokyo Game Show and on the Japanese Street Fighter 4 blog soon.
Expect the return of the many familiar Supers, and a few new ones like Metsu Shoryuken. You'll see the return of Chun-Li's Kikosho (Super Fireball), Gouken's Denjin, Sagat's Tiger Cannon (Super Fireball).
Ibuki has a run command.
Guile has his Sonic Hurricane move from Marvel vs. Capcom 2.
Dudley has his Chain combos from Third Strike, plus one additional Chain combo.
Cody is the only character with an Alpha Counter and he still has his knife. He supposedly needs his knife to perform one of his Ultras.
Rufus can cancel-break the last hit of his Spectacle Romance, or the launch kick of Space Opera Symphony.
Guy has his Chain combos.
Makoto has her Tanden Renki Super from Third Strike.
Zangief is said to have a 720 degree motion Air Ultra called the Siberian Blizzard.
The game takes place one year after Street Fighter 4.
Dudley was searching for his car in Third Strike, in this game he's searching for a rose.
T. Hawk's storyline involves him protecting Juni or Juli.
Dhalsim's new Ultra is called the Yoga Shangri'la.
There's a new gameplay system called Tadan Saving, the phrase implies a multi-hitting or multiple-level Focus Attack.
The console characters are all said to be added to the upcoming arcade release, with the possible exceptions of Seth and Gouken.

SNK (or rather ADK) did the Cars and Baoh copy-catting first though

Actually Necalli reminds more of Hanma Yujirou and Pickle from Grappler Baki.
SNK was made up of people who left the Street Fighter team, though.
Yep. IIRC, the team behind Art of Fighting was made up of people that made Street Fighter 1. It does explain some of the similarities like only being able to use Ryo & Robert in single player mode.

Ken Bogard being French is prob. the reason he wrote the character's name as Rachid, as generally I've seen it written or spelled as Rashid with an s.

Anyways, with the Beta now up for preload, think it could be datamined to find out who the remaining characters are?

Depends how much effort Capcom have put into branching the demo build. With Crackdown on the xbox 360 we basically just put the full game in the demo and boxed off the area with barriers XD I imagine with something like SFV they might've been a bit more careful :3

On the one hand it might give us an idea on how many characters, in total, will be in the game following DLCs.
Non the less it'd be interesting if someone could datamine the game and well...discover stuff ;3

Also found someone mentioning this:
Time to board the Karin hype train

If we don't get Abel back, I hope there's a character that fights like him. I love how brutal but controlled all of his attacks look, there's a huge weight to everything.

Ooh! thankies! :D
Kinda confuzzled what he's covering there as there's not much screenspace left to see another character in :P

edit:
Ooh, I like her specials. They should beef her up and get rid of that stupid school suit.
Heh, special wise she's actually got a lot similar tools to Abel though she doesn't have his grounded anti-air throw or roll, but in exchange she gets an air-to-air throw and a counter which she can even use in her rekkas :3

I noticed the counter! That was my favorite part. Sounds like it could be super fun.
