Scalebound, ReCore, Sea of Thieves, Quantum Break. More to be shown.

Want more? Actually, fuck that, wouldn't want to turn this into a list thing.

Can't wait for GamesCom. I'm fully expecting gameplay videos for Scalebound and Quantum Break. I have 100% confidence in Platinum Games but Remedy is 50/50. Really hoping they don't fuck up Quantum Break. Have no interest in Sea of Thieves and have to wait to see actual gameplay for ReCore before deciding if im interested or not in the game.

Their source said that the PS4 version would be announced in 2016, and well here we are. However it did get the PC and PS4 release windows right.

That did pass a common sense check I guess. Who's going to release a year late port for $60?

The Know has grown up so fast. Already getting legitimate leaks.

They could slap enhanced edition on it or something like that, plus they could include all DLCs. However the real issue here is 2016 Fall release, no way it will survive that period, no matter the price, not without a proper marketing campaign (which won't happen).

LOL! Like they can't do that if launch simultaneously. At worst they can hire another studio to do PC/PS4 ports. And it's not like TR2 is visual marvel or anything.
They can. But as I said, if they have only two platforms instead of 4 to be worried, those two platforms can benefit. Even hiring other teams, there must be some work to coordinate all this.

The PS4 version could have some dlc or some such included, but the chances of it running better than the PC version are very low.
Doesn't have to run better, TR2013 ran better on PC but TR:DE was still better on PS4 since they added lots of extra effects for the weather etc. I expect the same treatment on this one.
But 1 year of waiting is way too much so I don't care, first playthrough is on XB1 or PC and if it's good enough as a game and updated enough I could play it a second time on PS4 later on too.

Now make it cross-buy so I can play it on Xbox One in November and then save it for prosperity/replay it when I get around to upgrading my computer.

That honestly should be the norm with this stuff.

CD doesn't do non-xbox versions (the last two TR games they didn't), so this won't really be any different. And if they coordinate with the team doing an 360 port (Different architecture way less powerful hardware) which need new assets, then coordinating with the studio(s) doing the PS4/PC port will be trivial (same architecture, a bit more powerful hardware and in case of PC a way better better hardware).

The Know guys said it will be GOTY edition (all DLCs included) sold at $40 (PS4 version).

I still think the game will bomb at that price. No one will give a shit about about a 1 year old port in one of the busiest months of the year (November).

I bet all of this was done in the mindset that Uncharted 4 was gonna release this November and than the delay happened and now that window between the release of Uncharted 4 and Tomb Raider on PS4 is smaller and its gonna hurt tomb raider a lot. They miss out on the sales of PS4 during a holiday season with no Uncharted 4 and now the release window between the Uncharted 4 and Tomb Raider on PS4 has shrunk.

Anyway excited for the PC release hope the game turns out well.

Agreed! It seems pretty obvious Square chose this deal because they figured being held up to Uncharted in the press, exclusive vs exclusive, would help sales. Now that Uncharted has moved part of their plan doesn't work; as it can't be compared to a game that it isn't releasing against. Combined with what is shaping up to be a really busy holiday season (they are launching same day as Fall Out 4!), and they are probably afraid of being lost in the shuffle. If I were a gambling man I would be willing to bet the game isn't trending so well and/or has low early buzz/pre-orders, thus the need to revise the messaging plan. All these things considered (assumed) and it makes sense for them to remove the ambiguous platform/release dates; to get rid of potential PS4 hold outs.

On a personal note; I'll prob buy it for my X1 this fall and then again on PS4 if it ends up the superior version and the price is right.

I hope the game is good.

I mean, this is one thing I dont really think we need to worry about better or worse, be you a jilted old school TR fan or a lover of New Raider. The game will be more of the same as we had last time.

Haven't played the first game yet so the late release on PS4 is no problem for me but I think this will ruin TR chances too sell good on PS4 ofc.
Imagine what will happen if it sells bad on XB1 which is possible because of its release date. I think the franchise will be dead then.

I didn't really have a problem with MS getting a window of exclusivity on this game, I had a problem with the contractually agreed intentionally misleading language that SE and MS used to announce the window of exclusivity.

Fair enough take Microsoft's money to delay other versions of the game, but don't agree to intentionally mislead your customers by pretending it is a proper exclusive rather than a timed one. I don't have an issue with the concept of exclusivity, just the lack of transparency from SE in this instance.

It's a pretty disrespectful way to treat customers, and pretty much anyone in the know could see through it anyway.

I'm glad that now they have come clean, but they should have really been honest about it from the start. Granted MS probably would have paid less had the initial announcement clearly stated it would come to PS4/PC at a later date, but it would have still been the right thing to do.

I'd feel much the same way about Capcom if SF5 came to Xbox One at point down the line, but Sony are pretty damn good at using clear and precise language to describe the nature of any exclusive titles they have secured these days.

Kind of. The developers of NMS and Rocket League are still apparently unable to talk about Xbox versions of their games. The nature of those deals with Sony (if there are any) seems pretty enigmatic and I'm interested why Xbox users aren't really looking into it more.

Well, just my opinion, but honestly...unless the PS4 does a $100 price drop this holiday...

There is no way it will outsell the One. The One will take a lead this season in US...im calling it now. I wouldnt be surprised if it outsells the PS4 by near a million if there is no price drop. The PS4 doesnt have any exclusive games that can compete this year.

If Uncharted 4 had released this November...I wouldnt predict this.

The fans that havnt bought a One for halo yet, will...and we all know that MS will do some bundles and discounts heavily to get those numbers up there as high as they can. Phil wants to win this holiday.

Rise of the Tomb Raider I wont buy...because I already have a backlog that needs attention...but If its priced right next year, i will.

It's enigmatic to a degree, but the language is clear in that something like NMS is "first" and not "lifetime" like SFV or Cuphead.

And in the end of the day, some devs pretty much choose not to port it over to XB1 on their own volition, like Supergiant prioritising their resources for porting Bastion instead.

Aye, but Sony has never announced those as actual exclusives like MS tried to do with nuTomb Raider 2.

SE/MS tied themselves in knots to make it sound like Tomb Raider would only ever be on Xbox, and as we can see now that was not true.

Sony talk about games having their "console debut" on Playstation, or "Launching exclusively" on Playstation. Everyone knows what these mean. Yes developers might be contractually obliged to not discuss other versions of games for a certain timeframe, but they are (as far as I can see) never asked to pretend a game will only ever be on Playstation when it is also going to hit other platforms.

Of course Rocket League and NMS sky will hit Xbox at some point (parity clause be damned).

Boy I hope this game bomb and I don't even care about Tomb Raider

Come on now! Blimey.

Launching 6 months after XB1 plants its firmly into U4 territory, so obvious it was going to be around Q4. I imagine it will do OK numbers but certainly not on a similar level to the previous game. Though OK sales is offset by whatever wedge they got from MS. A hefty wedge i'd wager.

I agree with you but i'm not sure Sony will drop the price since the US isn't the only market out there, and the PS4 is dominating everywhere else (except uk). Maybe they're willing to get outselled by a million, knowing they'll slowly widen the gap again in 2016.

joke post i hope

God damn, 1 year is a long time.

Pretty much a Xbox One exclusive.
Seriously. I thought it would be at least exclusive till maybe summer. A year though is a long time, I enjoyed the 2013 game even though I loved the original Core games back on PSone. Sucks I have to wait till holiday 2016, damn. :/

I have a feeling that the PS4 version of both Black Ops and Battlefront will outsell Halo 5. There's so much more hype for those games. While I do believe that there's a chance the XBO will outsell PS4 I do believe this will only happen for sure if Microsoft lowers the price and/or bundle. Tomb Raider might be that bundled game making actual sales of that game kind of pointless to measure. Microsoft wants to close the gap and they're prepared to sacrifice profit for it, something Sony isn't prepared to do.

It's not about Uncharted 4 either, yet there is plenty of discussion about it in this thread.

It amazes me that people are still complaining about this. MS bought timed exclusivity of the game to help bolster console sales, just like Sony did with he Destiny DLC lockup. It is an effort to make their console more attractive to prospective buyers. If they offend PS4 owners who don't have any intention of purchasing a XB1, they don't care.

Also if people are bitching about this then they should be bitching about any and all 3rd party exclusivity that isn't funded by Sony or MS.

Don't speak for the rest, but my primary complaint has been about the messaging. I really wished MS didn't do the dance routine of acting like it's somehow more than that. Just be upfront that it's timed. A year is still a big get, be satisfied with it.

my thoughts exactly

the PS4 version of RoTR will probably have all the DLC anyways and more content depending on how mediocre the reviews are

That's an awful example of equivalency, Xbox owners could still play Destiny day and date with Playstation owners, and the only complaints I've had with this deal was the slimy wording at the reveal and SE having the balls to agree to this deal when they complained about TR 2013 being dissapointing at selling 3.4m in a month with Xbox being the least popular platform for the franchise.

I'm a bit worried. I love Tomb Raider and the reboot, even though it's a different genre as the old games was one of my favourite games that years.
But that's a long time frame. I hope the game still sells good enough. Square initially didn't seem happy about the sales of the 2013 game. I hope this staggered release won't have a negative impact on the series and for the developers.

Wondering if I should just wait for the PC version now, with the Xbox One version coming out the same day as Fallout 4 I doubt I'll have much time to play it anyway.

I guess the deal will offset some of that, but by how much who knows.

Oh well, it will sell better on PS4 anyways when it releases next year.

All the DLC will probably be included as well; hopefully SE prices it at $40-$50.

PS4 will definitely need a price-cut this holiday season if it wants to remain competitive with XB1.

Though marketing/bundling on most major AAA games this Fall will likely lessen the blow significantly.
