Final Fantasy XV 'Dawn' trailer

If there was any doubt left in me it's gone now. We won't get to play FF XV before KH3. If THIS is their big trailer they skipped E3 for....good night.

Don't see why I'm supposed to be emotional over this. I know nothing about this kid. I know nothing about the dad. I don't care.

This was simply not the trailer they needed. I don't mind the story stuff at all as it's clearly the beginning of the story with no character progression, but it's not the time and place for just that.

Did Noctis's father just whisper? I mean, why is he not voiced? I would not mind hearing the japanese VA.

Tales from my ass, but hey.
Japanese trailer doesn't have VA either... This game won't be released anytime soon if they still haven't recorded VA for trailers....

It just feels like a forced love interest now. Not a fan.

? It seemed pretty clear she was a love interest from the beginning though. It obviously had a Romeo and Juliette theme...

Aha, maybe that is the grandfather...! Sure would make a lot more sense. I mean he looks in his sixties even there.

Tabata, get your shit together.

To be honest I prefer the design of the concept art over the old image. The trailer makes him seem broken/sad which really fits the mood even more than the concept art. The concept art makes him seem confident and determined.
Well, at least it seems that way to me.

Yeah, that's what's baffling to me about people who are saying they cried at this. I have absolutely no reason to be emotionally invested in anything that is happening.

This. If he wasn't redesigned then he would age like this which makes no sense.

The second picture is just 2-3 years after the first one.

I hope the person from this trailer is someone else, otherwise Regis' old design was way better.

Agreed completely. If they can follow up with something more substantial during the ATR, though, I can see things working out. Certainly, this trailer has at least served to get people talking.

The first minute was neat but the rest of the trailer brought it to a screeching halt.

And it does seem like Regis might have gotten a redesign since he looks completely different in the new flashback compared to how he looked in the E3 2013 flashback.

I'm also not sure what to think of Luna's role since I preferred the concept for Stella's character.

The man holding Noctis in the new trailer looks a lot like the guy in the background of the third picture you posted.

The arranged marriage plot seems interesting to me. It always ends up really bizarre provided they don't just drop it.

It's also very unsual for a videogame, sincerely I can't recall a videogame where this happens. If they handle it well it'll be cool as shit. It's actually the thing I'm most interested in finding out now about the plot.

- Worst trailer i've ever seen, the teaser gif told it all.
+ The OST is amazing.
Tabata once again proves he is terrible at making trailer.

I don't know why people have ANY hopes for the ATR.
It's a marketing gimmick designed to pretend the devs care about talking to fans.
They don't.

Even FF14 team that pioneered the Live Letters for Square don't care.
All Live Letters are these days are 2 hours of wincing at the PR department behind the camera and giving marketing pushes for products.

Yeah, I was afraid of asking because of this.

!
That could make a lot of sense I think.

Edit: Wait no never mind. It says "His father could only hold him and mourn his destiny".

Duh, got excited. Sorry.

Good catch!

Crisis averted everybody!

Tabata, I take back everything I said!

It says "The father could but hold him and mourn his destiny."
If that's his grandpa then this trailer is even more stupid than it seems to be right now.

Yeah. Same. I have a feeling that the arranged marriage will end up falling apart but they'll end up in a relationship anyway.

I like this trailer and I like the atmosphere it is putting in place.
But it is really laking of gameplay :(

What if she's not even a love interest anymore?

Really hope she's not. In fact, I hope she murders Noctis in his wedding night, and then the game takes on a different perspective with Luna as the protagonist and her group of girlfriends to take over the world.

The problem isn't that there is a lack of gameplay or pew pew but rather there is zero damn context for any of these scenes. It could be an advertisement for a fantasy book for all that was presented here. There is no narrative presented to the audience but a number of seemingly random scenes.

This might have worked if the trailer was longer or the text wasn't vague as fuck.
How do you achieve this without spoiling?

If it's the OG king then that makes sense. I'd like to believe that now. It is ingrained unless said otherwise lol
Agreed.

That's Noctis's grandfather now; if it turns out to be Regis, I still won't believe it lol

Yeah. Same. I have a feeling that the arranged marriage will end up falling apart but they'll end up in a relationship anyway.

It happened in Tales of Vesperia, the main dude had a fiance through political arrangements, but I can't recall how it ended :/

I was like ohhh shit 3 mins at first

... It's crazy how you can show so little in that timeframe for a trailer
