Final Fantasy XV 'Dawn' trailer

Hoping that's not really him and it's just a ruse.
Otherwise, stop changing shit PLEASE Tabata.
There is still hope?

nah.

Well we've seen Luna do a whole lot of nothing so far... so there's that.

I'm really hoping and will probably a little annoyed if literally nothing comes of her than girly waif.

And we saw Stella do stuff? Who is Stella?

That trailer also seemed poorly translated.

That character redesign is a) awful and b) what is the point of it?

Literally the worst non-teaser Final Fantasy trailer I have ever seen. It seems like they are changing things just because. Hopefully the ATR will have a REAL trailer because this was awful.

Honestly just don't think I particularly like the style it was done in. It's really not very understated or subtle, and it didn't do much to convey the bleak feelings of fear and sadness outside of seeing Regis crying with appropriate music. To me it seemed really straightforward when it came to making me feel something, and I would have preferred an approach that made more use of the sounds and visuals of the empty, cold environment to convey an atmosphere of foreboding and loneliness. It feels like they took such a dramatic approach when there simply isn't enough build up to really justify it.

Also could have done without the text between scenes.

It was weird. I kinda liked it. Then again. We all expected so much more.

KotR Regis still looks like he could evolve/in 15 years be Yakuza Regis that people want. It's like a difference between the formal outfit he has to wear for events and then...not so formal? I guess it's like an FF version of how a royal family has different outfits for different occasions. For a real-time cutscene (the NOctis/KotR Regis bit) it looked super impressive.

The Luna bit...well we saw practically nothing but its pretty obvious she's not an evil dick like her Dad etc so the arranged marriage between her and Noctis may actually be something she wants, I dunno. Unless she turns out to be more deceptive and antagonistic she ain't gonna be the Stella vs Noctis version of Luna but she could be, quite easily.

It's bizarre. We wanted more story trailer, we got it, but they still managed a way to fuck it up by not having any release info and also having one drawn out scene (that in a cut scene would work but not in a limited time thing like a trailer)...I guess while I liked the trailer (IN PART!) I also struggle to believe that this is what they skipped E3 for.

The start of marketing towards the release of XV has to be more than this, surely?

Well that was boring, and a minute too long.

And lol at people still talking about Stella though. She didn't really ever exist as far as I'm concerned. (As in, in any meaningful way. She's good for gifs I guess). SE showed they were content with making trailers with nothing behind it back then.

Was super refreshing having no one speak in a trailer.

Hopefully what they're trying to do in terms of emotional impact in the game is more in tone with the trailer, and it won't be over the top crazy and a lot of people just looking at each, some people doing head movement and someone going "Ahuh!" all the time.

Events can be moving regardless of preexisting knowledge of the people involved. Knowledge can certainly elevate the level of empathy involved but intimate knowledge of the person or persons involved is not a required prerequisite to empathize.

Look I see how people came into this trailer expecting something really different and perhaps that colored your reaction here but as someone who went in with no expectation I left caring more about the characters and the story than when I went in. That, to me, is a successful trailer for an RPG.

Events can also be moving regardless of whether or not the thing they're a part of end up being any good, too. I think the core image of a father holding his son is beautiful; I also think it's incredibly poorly utilized in a bad trailer. Appreciating imagery on its face and disliking the piece overall aren't mutually exclusive.

An old man holding child in an empty city, saying that he'll always be with him. It turns out that he's about to face three humongous creatures towering above the city. I don't know, I think that's enough context to go on.

That said, what they show of Luna and the implication of her role continues to be disappointing.
It's really not when we know nothing about the father. An entire family being killed by zombies is enough to go on. A bunch of disjointed scenes is not.

Calling people retards because of a bad trailer.
wow

These are the FF fans who then pretend the developers to listen to them.

The trailer was ok per se, but rather weak after the anticipation, I hope they address the situation during the ATR and say something about what will be shown at the TGS.

BS aside, this game is going to look fantastic. Disappointing trailer but at least it had no Duscae in it :)

Don't know if these were posted yet, but full res pics from the trailer/art:

Wonder if Tabata just made the hugging scene overly drawn out because they managed to include some of the animation tech from Agni's Philosphy crying scene. Lmao.

How come no one is complaining about the framerate
as well
?

? What was wrong with the framerate?

Also I could be doing that classic lunging/clutching at straws thing but the E3 2013 trailer has a guy with a nearly identical hairstyle standing as one of Regis' bodyguards during the confrontation with Idoclapt or whatever the fuck his name is.

I feel like this is an unfair characterization of the disappointment some people have. Trying to be emotional doesn't automatically make something good; there's plenty else that can go wrong.
I do not consider myself part of the pew pew crowd and I don't mind emotional moments I just found the trailer and music gratingly schmaltzy

That's honestly the first thing that came to my mind while watching this. =/

Not to say it's only there to shoehorn that tech in, but I can definitely see him during the ATR tomorrow going on about "look how well the engine allows us to convey emotion on the characters faces!"

Man the negativity surrounding everything related to this game is too strong, it will soon get me too, i can feel it...

edit:lol i'm not the only one i see

Why are they dry though? It's so weird to go for these realistic facial expressions and completely disregard how rain would effect someone in the real world.

Fifteen years ago...
Fate would fall to the father and son of Lucis. (Okay, so three people here).
As the stars chose the son to be their Light...
The father could but hold him and mourn his destiny. (Noctis's father?)
Now the son rises, the dawn of a new king. (Now, 15 years ago? It can't be Noctis, can it?).
And so the story begins.

The wording seems off, or
/and
I can be reading too much into it.
I just want this to make some kind of sense...

Odd trailer but people are making a few assumptions based on the father son relationship no?

Not sure what to take away from this.

A pretty terrible trailer if you ask me. I don't watch trailers for story bits, I watch it for gameplay and presentation. Show that.

What was that? I mean I liked the emotional angle but really it's not the type of trailer you want to show at a big game conference to induce hype.

This game is 2017 maybe 2018 release date. They have nothing to show.

Lucis isn't a person.

Every time Tabata shows something I see more and more disappointment.

It almost feels like they took what remnants they had of Versus XIII and just put something together..

Did you just imagine this Stella personality or was there some amazing piece of information I missed over the years that explained who she was?

What i know of Stella only came from the promotional materials we've seen of her.

We know Stella was a fighter, who had powers and abilities that matched Noctis(from the 2008 trailer). We also know that she was set to fight against Noctis and his group against her own wishes. She was very soft spoken and well mannered, but very strong and resolute in personality.(shown in the 2009 10 minute trailer, seen here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMhg65dUTbw)

What we also know is that Luna is not Stella, and we have seen that.

FFVsXIII is dead, I thought people already accepted that. Not Tabata's fault that Nomura couldn't get the game out.

How do you know Nomura was the reason the game was not out by a specific date instead of company mismanagement of staff on projects? We know that only 4 games came out for console from SE's Japanese arm between 2009 and 2013 in SE, do you honestly think Nomura was at fault for that?

At least we already knew that the story will get darker because Nojima's original will was very dark one and Nomura was trying to make it brighter one. Now XV respects Nojima's plot, and it is natural to become dark story.

If this had been the first ever trailer released for XV, I think it would have been quite well-received as an excellent teaser. This, however, is not the time for teasers. This is the time for release dates, or nothing at all.

My faith in this game is at an absolute nadir. We've known of its existence for a decade now and I still don't have a clue what's going on.

The stars= Fal'cie

Noctis= L'cie

No release date still? Really?

Can't believe there are people that think the FF7 remake will make it in time for the 20th anniversary in 2017.

It seems like they took Versus and tried to make it different to be "theirs" and it's going to turn out poorly because of it. I was really expecting some character reveals from the characters we saw in the E3 trailer, but I wouldn't be surprised if they all looked differently now too. Even Prompto looks pretty differently than he did in 2013.
