Final Fantasy XV 'Dawn' trailer

I am personally shocked at how much the game changed since its 2013 re-reveal.

It's not even the same anymore at all.

I mean changes are to be expected, but they literally re-did EVERYTHING.

I still can't believe it. What were they thinking?

The inner machinations of my mind are an enigma,,,

I'm guessing they were trying to copy the feel of the earlier Nomura trailers but fell short cause:

a) When Noruma did it, the game did not have as much baggage as it does now.
b) People were exited for any glimpse of Versus so Nomura can just drip feed them almost anything and they would still be hype.

This trailer isn't actually bad overall. Sure it doesn't show us anything substantial and new that we couldn't already deduce but it is showing a genuine moment between father and son. That's a breather from all the bro road trip vibe they have going on for them in Duscae.

It's signed at the bottom right but I can't read it. I don't think it's Akihiko Yoshida.

I wonder if it's Yusuke Naora's.

What is so different? We've seen as much as the exact same room that was in the E3 2013 trailer later on. And this trailer's long father-son scene takes place in a very familiar location.

Welp, I'm glad I didn't hype myself up for the trailer. For what it is, it should've just started a minute in and only consisted of that last scene, then at least it'd feel less jarring transitioning from the rest of it.

They really should lower expectations before releasing something like this that's going to underwhelm people.

Surprise surprise, Tabata cuts another terrible/underwhelming trailer. He's awful at this.

Really miss Nomura's trailers. Easily the best media to come out about the game.

Yeah, I thought this trailer was poorly directed as well as what we saw of the cutscenes shown. Felt like they just used a couple pieces of concept art rather than actually story-boarding it out and trying to do something interesting with the scene. That's a bad sign considering it's supposed to be important. They obviously made no attempt to improve it with how the trailer was cut.

You could have made a trailer around teasing the backstory which could have worked, but they took a promising concept and some great character models/music and made it dull with how the execution was.

Anyway I think this trailers puts to rest any hope of this game coming out in Q1 2016. Even VA isn't done or maybe even casted for some characters.

Yes, a little girl should clearly be able stand up to an adult man 3 times her size donning massive armour.

So weak and helpless.

The defense never stops.

Were you one of the guys who said wait for gamescon trailer to know more about Luna?

You can make up excuses for the characters (and Luna in particular) all you want, it's on them for releasing trailers where she is only portrayed as a weak and mute character in every encounter with no actions of her own.

In contrast to the medieval settings featured in previous Final Fantasy titles, Final Fantasy VI is set in a steampunk environment. The structure of society parallels that of the latter half of the 19th century, with opera and the fine arts serving as recurring motifs throughout the game, and a level of technology comparable to that of the Second Industrial Revolution. Railroads and steamships are in use, and a coal mining operation is run in the northern town of Narshe. - Wiki source

Fans or not, the basis for the game is steampunk just as how the older Final Fantasy games carry the medieval aspect heavily.

Right, but it's also full of robots, castles, and dragons.

That was terrible. A few words and transitions into a long ass scene of nothing. Seemed like he was whispering to the kid too? Only picked it up with the subs.

Urm, she's literally a little girl in this trailer. All you know is 2 scene of her: a 5 secs moment in the previous trailer and here where her father/general is taking out his anger on her as a little child.

So yes, that's apparently enough information to judge an entire character on.

This game fell from my eyes after Nomuras's departure, this is not Versus or 2013's XV.

Wow I loved it. The music and telling of Noctis and his dad was just so saddening..I legit felt feel my heart break for the King in that scene it was really beautiful.

I get people here and on that YouTube comments page are upset and I get why. People at this point in the stage expect a grand trailer as we get closer to the game hopefully being done along with a date but, I told myself many moons ago to be excited for work that will come especially now that SE is taking fan feedback and being much more open.

This felt like a trailer that should of came out as one of the first teasers but, from a artistic and storytelling aspects I can understand and respect it.

What, exactly, has changed so much? The way combat works/controls has been changed, but it still retains the "a bit heaveir action RPG" combat feel that they've been aiming for since the Versus days. The close relationship & deep love father Regis has for Noctis is exactly in line with the January 2011 Versus XIII & E3 2013 FFXV trailers.

You don't seem to be getting the point.

This might all be true, she might be a very different character that is strong and knows what's she's doing. We can't judge a character based on a few seconds of footage.

In all the trailers that have been released though, they decide not to show any of her strong character. They are controlling the perception the character is receiving. Why didn't they add scenes in any of the trailers to show us more of the character talking or taking actions? Why are we only seeing these type of scenes with only seconds of footage?

It is their fault for people thinking this way when that is the message they are sending, regardless whether it's true or not. You can't keep saying we don't know jack shit and wait for more when that is all we receive every time.

I will be happy when it turns out she is a different character, different than how most of us assume. But until then...

This trailer was boring, I like the tone of it but that's it.

I doubt they're gonna waste all the ATR talking about this trailer, so let's wait and see.

Then people should really take a step back and judge the situation before goin ape-shit don't you think?

Like as I said, there are only 2 trailer showing her so far and she's not even prominently featured in any of them. This trailer have a clear purpose of establishing Regis and Nostic's relationship when it comes to his 'gifts' and very briefly contrast it with Luna's relationship with her w/e that man is. This is not an action pack here's a bad ass trailer and as much as I would like to see more of the other characters other than Nostic and his posse, I can see that they have a reason of framing this trailer a certain way (despite how awkward and sloppy edited it is).

Yeah wtf

not impressed
Don't think they were trying to wow or impress anyone, more like evoke some emotion or tease the tragic things that will happen in the game, after a year of seeing Noctis & Co talking more lighthearted crap & goofing around. Problem is this isn't a sequel and we don't even have the full context of the scene in question, so most people don't really empathize with Regis at this point.

I somewhat feel like people are being spoiled for wanting to see more, because it was pretty satisfying to me. I know SE was bad about their messaging by hyping the world and delivering what boils down to a cherry-picked cutscene, but this short snippet does show us an evocative side of the game that we've never seen before.

Yeah its weird

I mean clearly they are amping up the story but the initial reveals should just focus on gameplay

Pulling for the story to be good though I remain pessimistic a bit :/

Wow! I loved it. I loved seeing the giant airship battles and it was great to see the new Neo Bahamut summon. Just a question...do people think the cameo at the end was Lightning related?

A loud bombastic kickass trailer and an emotional but cryptic one is a false dichotomy. You can have an emotional trailer for a game that actually tells you something. I wanna know who these characters are and you won't tell me! An average passerby isn't gonna study years of interviews and statements to piece it together. It'll be some weird Japanese CG with an old dude holding his kid.

And also, you're trying to promote an action RPG here. A 75 seconds long scene like that for a trailer is disgustingly pretentious. It's like after FF13 they learned absolutely nothing.

Wooow that was .... not that exciting

YOu have to try to make me sad , or happy , or excited ... Something ....
right now i feel nothing.

Disapointment maybe ?

Yes you can clearly see Etro in the sky sending Lightning down to give Noctis his brand. Then everyone will freak out because he's a L'cie and demand him to be purge. Don't you see guys? That's how they ended up in Duscase!

Y'all crazy. This trailer was rad. It got me intrigued and wondering what's happening to both Luna and Noctis, so I'd say the trailer did its job in hooking me in.

Given that most trailers nowadays are just frantic jump-cuts of random action scenes stitched together, this comes as a nice contrast. A trailer that doesn't give away too much isn't a bad thing.
