Final Fantasy XV 'Dawn' trailer

Yes you can clearly see Etro in the sky sending Lightning down to give Noctis his brand. Then everyone will freak out because he's a L'cie and demand him to be purge. Don't you see guys? That's how they ended up in Duscase!
Oh, this makes sense. So if that was Etro, the boxes of black hair dye make sense to me now. I just wonder if the mangos and melons in the last shot have any significance...maybe a nod to MGS Rising before it was ruined by Platinum games....

I don't want to seem too spoiled, but this trailer was really barnacles. I liked the Regis & Noctis scene, but why would you spend 3/4 of the trailer just for that? Is there going to be an extended trailer? Because I learning nothing at all. Not even about Luna.

I somewhat feel like people are being spoiled for wanting to see more, because it was pretty satisfying to me. I know SE was bad about their messaging by hyping the world and delivering what boils down to a cherry-picked cutscene, but this short snippet does show us an evocative side of the game that we've never seen before.
We've seen this side in 2013 and prior, you know, when Nomura was handling the trailers, and much better I might add. It was obvious Tabata was trying to go back to the serious drama of the story, but his presentation is awful.

Literally the only new 'environments' in this were a completely dark room and a rainy street, with no intriguing dialogue or events of consequence. Hoping the ATR has way more substance than this teaser.

Y'all crazy. This trailer was rad. It got me intrigued and wondering what's happening to both Luna and Noctis, so I'd say the trailer did its job in hooking me in.

Given that most trailers nowadays are just frantic jump-cuts of random action scenes stitched together, this comes as a nice contrast. A trailer that doesn't give away too much isn't a bad thing.
I think the problem isn't as much the trailer as to which game's trailer this is and what people were expecting from this trailer (no more teasing, more action, more story, more characters).

What does this trailer say about how good the final game will be? Not a whole lot. No need to raise the alarm just yet. There's still the ATR to come in 4.5 hrs. I'm hyped!

Yeah that was bad. Felt like they were stalling because they don't really have anything to show that's not Duscae.
Lulz, way to jump to completely ridiculous conclusions. This is the beginning of FFXV's proper marketing cycle, it's more likely that they just made the stupid decision to start it with a tease of things to come instead of starting it with a bang.

I'm calling it now, the King is going to suffer a Sean Bean tier death early in the game.

That was obvious the moment they reveal Versus to the public.

Man Platimum Games are the worst. I heard they are doing a sequel to Nier now? Instant bargain bin for me.

I've been hearing this for a while.
I hope this is really it.

Not jumping to conclusions — that's why I prefaced what I said with "felt like". Anyway, I think someone should tell the marketing team that starting a campaign with a hype deflater is probably not the best idea. It's just not working for me.

I thought nobody could possibly make a trailer more disappointing than Scalebound.

I was wrong.

I hope they show another tech demo with Agni.

Yeah, honestly I'd like to see more stuff like this, I've seen plenty of gameplay and played the game, and I need to see more of the world / characters instead of another Noctis battle dance performance.

Unfortunately this particular trailer raised more questions than answered them, but I'm very interested in seeing more.

Mess @ the violence towards women at the start of the trailer in a game where all the protags are male and the only other woman we've seen is over sexualised lmao

But the graphics look really good, and the skin shader in particular is super cool imo.

I liked the Regis & Noctis scene, but why would you spend 3/4 of the trailer just for that? Is there going to be an extended trailer? Because I learning nothing at all. Not even about Luna.

Yeah I was wondering this too.... I mean I love a good slow trailer but I honestly had to check to make sure it was still playing at a point, they were just embracing and doing NOTHING. It didn't really convey much of anything.

Some days I'm convinced that this is going to be the greatest JRPG ever, other days I'm not sure they really have anything more than they are showing us - like it's all held together with duct tape behind the scenes and they're just making things up as they go.

He's 20 years younger or whatever.

Yet he looks significantly older than the "original" design, how so?

I'm personally subscribing to the "Noctis has been adopted" theory, or something like that. The two Regis are clearly nothing alike, so unless they redesigned him, they're two different persons.

Well I didn't really expect Tabata to live up the expectations that Nomura left, I mean come on... Watch the Versus XIII trailers, he couldn't possibly catch up to this.

I loved the trailer.

God, the music that kicks in at 1:15 is just incredible. Best video game track I've heard in years. I cannot wait to finally hear the soundtrack of this game in full.

This was a terrible trailer to release after announcing that it would be coming days in advance. It felt like a 3 minute teaser, and no teaser should be 3 minutes long.

I am very interested to see how this plays out. I'm a pretty big FF fan, played 'em all, MMOs included, and beaten 'em all... This game does not feel as exciting as it did when originally announced as Versus XIII, to me. Still, it's FF, and I'll buy it. Just wondering what the hell went so wrongly that they basically ditched what we originally saw and started over.

What are these horrible lying lies of liedom. With your lies

Hmm, lies seem to be a theme of this trailer. For example, the scene with Luna. I find it hard to believe what she is told by that character that looks like Jessica Simpson is true. Could she really be a Sentinel? And why would they tell her at such a young age?

This trailer has a lot of possibilities in it.

This trailer was super disappointing. After not having a trailer for a while this is what we get. Basically the teaser was the whole trailer. I regret refreshing to watch it. The trailer didn't get me excited for anything. Not hey give me more, whats gonna happen next? It just made me laugh. The best thing about the trailer was knowing that many people will have the same reaction I have. It will just be even more hilarious to me. For a while I just couldn't stop laughing at it, like I was in disbelief of what I just watched.

I didn't even wanna watch it a second time. I don't even mind the hugging or whatever, but that scene was way too long. When it got to the minute mark I was like ok maybe there will be gameplay, but nope still hugging, then blank screen, pause, then preorder on amazon. (which you could have done forever ago already) Not even a release date. It doesn't even matter if that's not the whole trailer. That just makes its a useless teaser to the real trailer when there was already a teaser. What sense does a teaser to a teaser make?

Oh well hopefully active report will be much more interesting.

By the way from what Tabata said in the last ATR I understood they had this trailer for E3 already, but Sony (or S-E USA?) didn't want to show it since it wasn't enough new material, so he pushed it back to Gamescom.

Hopefully we get another soon and ATR tonight has new information.

EDIT: Nah I remembered incorrectly, they just had old footage for E3 and Gamescom was supposed to be this trailer after all.

Good thing he's directing the game, not trailers.

Well even the previous gameplay which was released on 2011(I think) seems better than the current state of the game IMO, if you are talking about the slow progress which has been tied to Nomura, well... I don't think anyone could have progress with a ripped apart team while working on numerous other projects.

I won't continue this argument any further though, for the general good.

We still gonna have an Active Report with new gameplay right? Or only at TGS?

And it would be a great trailer...if we wasn't waiting for anything new after over 1 year of only Duscae

At least with Tabata we get news about the game every 6 months or less

This is the teaser for a trailer, right?

I feel like I learned nothing new. I'll have to rewatch it a couple more times though.

Hoping that's not really him and it's just a ruse.
Otherwise, stop changing shit PLEASE Tabata.

Hopefully by the next time we see the game he will have changed their matching backstreet boys outfits!

Seriously though, it's kinda funny, I wonder how much CGI has been produced that just can't be used in the game anymore.

IIRC, isn't pre-rendered stuff pretty much dead in Square's eyes. I could swear they're basically using as little as possible, save for things like scenes just involving vehicles and landscapes, like a few shots in the re-reveal trailer.

God I loved the elegance and overall regal feeling of the trailer and even I think there is more coming in less than 4 hours.

That trailer was good for me, but not "promotional take-off" good, not by a long shot. THERE IS MORE COMING :P

Also, there is NO WAY I am not getting this game's OST xD

Im guessing the cutscene in the trailer happens right after the main incident in the game that happened to noctis and luna when they were kids, then saved by their families

A little bit similar to Nala and Simba
