You're gonna gloss over Trojan Buckeye Apocalypse 2?

Also Big 12 in trouble against another MWC team! Colorado State up 20-10 in the third quarter over Colorado.

I think this is the Big 12's comeuppance for all the shit they talked about the Pac 10 losing to the MWC last year.

Colorado is probably the worst team in the big 12. This does not surprise me.

What the fuck Colorado?

You are 4th and 1 and you run East West for 20 yards before trying to cut up the field? :lol

Should have stayed in Boise idiot.

Damn, after every passing day, after OU lost, after UTEP lost, after Colorado loses, our SOS is taking big hits. 1 loss this season will surely take us out of the MNC. hell, a perfect season still isn't a guarentee if Penn State, Florida, and USC go perfect.

Dude. You need to settle down. It is week two of the season. Two.

There is no reason worrying about the national title at all at this point or SOS.

Hell, our SOS the national championship year was pretty bad. We played a highly ranked Ohio State team.. but the Big 12 was in SHAMBLES that year... and the computers only account for 1/3rd of the equation in the BCS. We are 2nd in both human polls.. and in case you haven't figured it out.. the media is clamoring for UF/Texas for the Jesus/Colt showdown.

Texas will get in the national championship game before Penn St and USC. 1 Loss season wont take you out unless two teams go undefeated not named Boise State (I wont count out a MWC team though now b/c of Oklahoma) which has not happened since Texas/USC.

That situation is the BCS apocalypse. 4 undefeated teams from 4 major conferences would would just totally destroy things.

I know it's early in the season, and I know people tend to overreact, but Oregon did not look good in their opener against Boise State. I was hoping Oregon would be a 1 or 2 loss team this year, but I can easily see them having 5 losses before the bowl season.

Cal, on the other hand, looked really good. Hopefully, Cal and USC take care of business and the Pac-10 will get one undefeated team and one 1-loss team, and we'll finally see Cal in a BCS bowl.

I dunno about that sparky. If USC and Penn St have 1 loss and Texas does then maybe Texas goes ahead depending upon who loses to who.

If USC goes undefeated and Texas loses 1 then I think it comes down to who they lose to and how late or early in the season they lose. Even then the Pac 10 is on an upswing, the Big 12 took a huge hit with OU losing and Texas OOC schedule is garbage.

Texas fans need to be rooting against Oregon the rest of the way out. If Oregon rebounds and gives USC another quality ranked opponent on their resume it will remain very interesting.

Still its only week 1, too much shit can still happen.

Normally I would agree... but....

If USC goes undefeated... you'll have a LOT of people wanting to see the USC/Florida matchup. I think more than Texas/Florida.

1. We'd finally get the Pac-10/SEC matchup that the BCS has so cleverly avoided all these years

2. An undefeated USC means an incredible season for Matt Barkley... and true freshman Barkley vs. Tebow I think would be a more compelling matchup. Storylines abound! Who is the better christian??

3. USC's strength of schedule would arguably be better than that of Texas. Especially if Notre Dame manages to stay ranked up to that matchup.

Not that any of that matters this early in the season. But as much as I'd want USC in the championship game, I'd also want something that somehow blows up the BCS. USC/Texas/Florida being undefeated at the same time would be chaos.

Yeah... we always say "such-and-such would destroy the BCS! It'd be chaos!" but at the end of the day, ESPN will pretend everything's fine, the BCS will go on as always, and the Pac-10 team will get fucked again.

Just the way God (Lou Holtz) intended it to happen.

The script this season was already written. It was going to be UF vs OU or Texas.

If Texas and UF go undefeated, that will be the game.. and whoever else goes undefeated will be fucked.

Now, if Texas or UF drop a game, than an undefeated USC or Penn St will get in.

It's like 2005 all over again. Texas vs USC was scripted before the season began. VaTech managed to go undefeated pretty far into the season and looked really good doing so.. and they never even came close to jumping Texas in ANY of the polls. With OU out of the race, Texas and UF control their destiny (fairly or unfairly). Everyone else needs to hope UF or Texas drop a game.

It is still WAY to early in the season to be talking about this kind of stuff though. We still don't really know how good any of these teams are in reality and a whole lot is going to change between now and then.

Rumor mill out of Norman from the pay sites:

1) Bradford has a grade 3 tear. They are going to re-evaluate it in a few weeks to see how progress is coming.. but he is most likely out for 6-8 weeks and very possibly the season. He can play with a grade 3 tear if they numb his shoulder, but the likelyhood for aggravating the injury is high and he could do permanent damage.

2) Gresham may be done for the year as well. He has two options.. a knee scope to remove the torn miniscus or surgery to repair the damage. The scope has him back and playing in a few weeks. The surgery ends his season. Option 1 has the possibility of aggravation and joint pain later in life. Option 2 is a full repair that would correct the problem long term. Word on the street is with Bradford out for half the season he may opt to go with the season-ending surgery.

As much as I hate OU this sucks.. but two first team all-american players may be done for most if not all of the season. Hopefully they make a speedy recovery and all this doom and gloom coming out of Norman is premature. I was looking forward to crushing them in Dallas.. but wanted them to be full strength when it happened.

I hope that Bradford has the surgery and decides he can't risk having a career ending injury and still leaves after this season. Don't let millions fade away Sam!

Well, the good news is he took out an insurance policy this year. So if this becomes something nagging he will still get millions.

This is why I think people that KNOW they are going in the top 15 should leave early. He was easily going to be the number 1 pick. And yes, he would have had to play for the Lions.. but the money would be there.

Most embarassing stat of the weekend: the ACC went 4-6... even though they played 6 I-AA teams. :lol

Smart kid. Still, that sucks. Really should have left last year.

Yeah, especially since it means Colt McCoy will win the Heisman for sure now.

You spelled Jonathan Crompton's name wrong. Ill give you the benefit of the doubt that it was an honest mistake.

Yeah unfortunately I've felt this way all offseason. The major media outlets have all bought into the SEC and Big 12 are the two best conferences hype from last season (even if it wasn't proven on the field) and would do everything in their powers to make sure one of Texas or Oklahoma plays Florida.

I definitely think that OU losing helps USC more than Texas losing as OU had the stronger schedule.

Still one thing that is important to remember in college football is that usually if you lose in the early goings it is easier to rebound and finish at the top or near the top as long as you look really good the rest of the season.

Wow. Virginia lost at home to William AND Mary. They should take some of that BCS money and, you know, spend it.

I don't have a rooting interest in college football (I graduated from University of Illinois Chicago. We don't have a team...) so I just want to see the best players. That's why I love the sport. McCoy vs. Bradford was one of the most exciting things going into the season for me. I'm bummed out now.

At least I can still root against those overrated Buckeyes!

Welp, I didn't make it past halftime at the UCF game. I was trashed.. almost got arrested in the stadium for being too drunk, ended up at a sorority house, then went to another and hung out there for like 3 hours. Made some friends, I think. Hopefully I didn't say or do anything too dumb lols.

At least we won, though. Never drinking that much(if at all) at a tailgate again.

Honestly thinking that people want to see USC/Florida is wishful thinking.

Texas isnt a known "choker" like Oklahoma so people will give them the benefit of the doubt.

That is true, though. I would have loved to see Oklahoma square off against Ohio St. last season to see what happens when two choking teams go against each other.

Something's gotta give!

Not only have Ohio State and Oklahoma choked time and time again, the two championships that the teams won this decade have the honored tradition of being: 1) A stolen championship given to them by the refs and Willis McGahee's shattered lower body and 2) The worst Championship game ever in any sport.

For one glorious quarter, Cincy vs. Rutgers was the most entertaining game of the season so far. Cincy's air attack puts together a quick, solid touchdown drive, and Rutgers responds with a 20-play drive that eats up over ten minutes and ties the game.

"YOU'VE GOT A HAIR ON YOUR JERSEY! HERE, LET ME GET THAT FOR YOU!"

Back from the half marathon in Virginia Beach. Lots of VT jerseys about. Oh well, at least I got to see the game from the hotel room couch.

and ever since then it has been Cincy stomping a mudhole in Rutgers.

Just watched the Minny/Syracuse game on my DVR. Initial thoughts:

- These teams are both going to be horrible this year.
- Greg Paulus has the weakest arm in Div-I football. I mean seriously.
- Syracuse knows they are bad. They run Wildcat 35% of the time and the rest of the plays are bubble screens.
- I hate the spread offense. It's gimmicky and amateurish. It's razzle dazzle in place of talent.
- Minnesota's switch from the spread offense to a pro-style offense did not go well. We should switch back.
- Eric Decker is a man.
- Minnesota has no push from it's offensive line.
- Minnesota looks SLOW. We have no athletes. Even our #1 WR looks like he's running in snow.

It's going to be a long year.

I was on a long drive so I missed the first 3 and a half quarters.

I put the game on, look at the score...

LOL

man Cincy is rocking us with Jersey rejects.

In any case, the story of the Rutgers offseason was that we had a good defense and a crap offense.

Looks like we got two shovels of crap.

On the plus side, at least the freshman will get some experience in this wasted season.

After all the passing, Cincy runs a draw on third down and takes it 62 yards. They can't not move the ball. :lol

popopop, Rutgers' first drive was a thing of beauty. I'm sorry you missed it.

If the defense is slow, it's gonna be a long day trying to stop Jahvid Best.
