Rock Band 4 announced for PS4 and Xbox One

I'd be curious as to how many people would prefer a digital copy of the game with the bundles. I've pre-ordered a full band kit just to make sure I can get one easily, but I'd much rather have a digital copy of the game. I'm not even a guy who likes to buy digital. I buy all my games in physical form, but Rock Band is the only exception since all my DLC is already digital and it's a game I'd always like to be at the ready to play instead of constantly swapping discs with whatever my game of the week is.

This would be great if it was an option. Rock Band is a type of game I want to jump in quickly

I want a digital bundle, not physical.

I do find the poll asking why you haven't preordered a bit odd. It's basically asking what information being shared would change your mind.

Is there a reason why they can't just share all of the details? Why prioritize info like that? Am I missing something simple here?

They have limited resources due to doing this without backing from a major publisher and want to prioritize so as many people are interested in the game as possible.

In other words, it's not that they're not sharing, it's that these features are still on a to-do list

Anyone know if there is any hope for my previous content if I went from 360 to PS4?

Unfortunately not. Their official stance on the matter:

Q: You’ve confirmed that legacy DLC libraries will carry forward to Rock Band 4 within the same console family… will DLC purchased on PlayStation 3 carry over to Xbox One, or from Xbox 360 to PlayStation 4?
A: No. As a developer, we are doing everything we can to support entitlements; cross-console entitlements are not entirely within our control and will not be supported.

Almost all of these are already locked in as features I thought. Breakneck speed, a csnpaign mode, character creation, compatibility with previous instuments, etc.

I'm referring to this questionnaire by the way. Is it just crunch time so they have to prioritize what few things they can talk about before launch?

Thanks guys, I didn't expect it too, kinda sucks though because I have so much content and I never play it, would have been nice to bring it back to life, can't justify going to 4 though.

With this game releasing in a couple of months, could we get a legit thread about it?

I hate that I'm still not sure about a lot of the stuff for this transition and the OP is super bare.

It'd be nice to have an OP that gets updated with all of these tidbits from HMX in here.

i can't really be too upset. Like they said, it's obviously out of their control. i wonder how many people this affects like myself however...i have a sizable amount of DLC plus hardware for 360, but nothing on PS3. I won't be able to transfer ANY of it. And I'm not going to buy an Xbox One for RB4 either.

You basically have to calculate it ...

If you also add your old 360 instruments, than buying an X1 might be cheaper than buying new instruments + all your DLC.

But I understand of course, buying a console just for one game is also not ideal ;-)

I wonder if a Rock Band 4 PC would hook into GFWL and let you redownload Live songs.

Of course, this would also lead to Harmonix getting torn apart by their PS fanbase.

So I imagine a RB PC will be 'starting over' for everyone.

I'm currently working on something as a template for the OT. You should see it by Monday and Il post it in this thread as well.

GFWL is pretty much dead though... Maybe cross buy with a Microsoft account could work though :p

I'd buy it if so, but to start over? Dead in the water.

Man, i have all rb dlc on a usa account, im gonna have to import it or buy digitally i guess :c hope the new guitar doesnt use a dongle on ps4.

Told them I didn't pre-order because I own 360 DLC and now own a PS4.

If they announce *some* way of moving stuff over across brand lines I'll pre-order for sure.

As it stands... I'm not too excited to have to re-buy a bunch of stuff I bought.

I don't mean to be Debbie Downer, but if they don't have the money to put online in, there is no way they are going to be able to afford to pay the licensing to transfer DLC between Microsoft and Sony.

From the sounds of it, it was more in the hands of Microsoft and Sony doing something. I'm sure if it were possible to figure cross-platform purchases out and it was in their hands, Harmonix would have done that. They put massive emphasis on getting DLC to work and that would have been inline with that goal.

The dongle has only been mentioned for Xbox 360 -> Xbox One instruments. Sounds like the PS3 instruments will work natively. As for the actual new guitar, it will be wireless. No dongle there.

Awesome that PS4 digital pre-orders are up. I eagerly await digital pre-order and old instrument compatibility specifics for the Xbox One version.

there are seriously going to be platform exclusive songs...what the complete fuck

would have loved the bring me the horizon song...but I guess I cant get it

So between this and the Amazon preorder songs, I guess we'll have to pick whichever we prefer. I imagine it'll all be available for purchase down the line, though.

"are only available at launch through this PlayStation-exclusive offer."

Fine by me. I only want the Reflex.

I do want a digital bundle though.

Slow your roll. This is a pre-order bonus. Nobody said you wouldn't be able to buy these on an Xbox One at some point. We've never done that before and we don't intend to start now. For launch though, these are bonus songs for PlayStation Plus members who pre-order.
