Forza Motorsport 6 has "wet weather, 3D puddles and night races" + more

Bit the bullet and ordered a Clubsport V2 with the xbox one Drift rim. Now the agonising wait begins.

That's quite the investment, super jelly.

I still have my old Fanatec wheel and wheel stand so I'll be ok when GT comes out, but I would love to have that all in one solution.

edit: got a sudden urge to buy the V2 base and xb1 universal adapter. Went to the site and checked the prices again......

My TX wheel is just fine.

I don't know... losing fujimi and positano and other fantasy tracks made FM lose part of its unicity (?). It has become a much less appealing package to me.

Eh, T10 fantasy tracks never really sat well with me.

pretty much always played like they were over designed and who ever was in charge always had to add one more corner. Straights were a mythical object.

I'm almost done prepping a bunch of my paints for Forza 6 day 1, super excited to get these up (and see what everyone else is working on). I took the Iron Man livery I made in Horizon 2 a few weeks ago and made a timelapse video of it. Once the game launches I'll have it up for share. Currently its on the supra and the transit van but if anyone one likes it and wants to see it on a different car just let me know.

Mindblowing, I dont think I have seen a video that layed out the process before. Fantastic job.

I loved Maple Valley and the Camino ones (except that Ladera felt too narrow with those hateful superglue speedbumps on the side).

Super excited for Lime Rock, Watkins Glen, and Brands Hatch, though.

I got 3 minutes in and I can't bear to watch Dan anymore. I'm tired of hearing the same stuff over and over with a few new cliches thrown in for good measure.

He is just PR PR PR. I'm sure there's a real person under there somewhere but I'm not seeing it.

It's the job.

Man, you really are negative about everything forza.

It's the job.

He's been overtrained. You can even hear it in his voice tonality. He's a PR robot and has lost most of the human side that makes people warm to you as a public figure.

That's just my opinion of course - maybe I notice it more because a lot of my job involves sales.

The core of the game is more than solid. The career mode just needs a few more customisable options, that's all. Other omissions such as car clubs and the auction houses are still a sore spot but I can get over those if I can customise the racing experience to my liking a bit better because that's what it's about once you get down to it.

I get that we can't have dynamic weather/TOD since that's a design choice. If they added the option for customisable race lengths in career mode with rewards that scale appropriately I promise I'll shut up. If that's the case then you don't even need qualifying :) .

It must be totally exhausting doing these kinds of presentations over and over again but Dan's pride and enthusiasm always shines through. I don't know if he's ever been coached but he seems like a natural, and there's absolutely no doubting his faith in the product. Yeah, the buzzwords and stock phrases can seem a little forced at times (the presentations have to be at least semi-scripted) but he's bloody good at this kind of stuff. I'm trying to think if there's anyone better in the industry but don't think there is. He's done amazing service to the franchise over the years.

Can you put it on the Honda S2K?

It is you.

Most journalists who interact with him have nothing but positive things to say about him and his enthusiasm for his product, even when they are not huge fans of the genre.

I'm right there with you, can't handle watching the presentations due to it. Of course I've always worked in sales too so maybe you're right about being more sensitive to it. Every iteration there's a collection of Greenawalt buzzwords and phrases that make me want to put together a drinking game.

That is exactly what he's been trained and is being paid to do!

It's not just me either, he's been at this for years: http://www.savecontinue.com/2013/07/taste-the-air-but-mind-the-stench/

I came across this interview earlier in the week, and it should tell you everything you need to know about the driving force (heh) behind Forza. Greenawalt sees the franchise “as being the master of everything offered by any simulation car game available anywhere, whether on a console or PC,” despite the fact that several components considered vital to any respectable sim racer are conspicuously absent from Forza. When confronted with this irreconcilable dichotomy, Greenawalt pivoted with the following:

"Fair points, but, but again, Forza (and Forza 5 in particular) offers so much more than these rather minor details and concerns from our niche brothers and sisters on the racing side of Forza life. We feel that the true source of Forza entertainment comes from its overall execution and the emotional connection derived from its unparalleled immersive content. I feel that any details that are allegedly missing are far outweighed by our cutting edge graphics and physics. But it’s not just these critical aspects; it’s also (in the case of FM5) the new power of the Cloud that places us on an entirely new plateau beyond anything anyone has out there. So, I think we can be forgiven if we don’t have every feature under the sun."

Yes, you read that right: “minor details” like fuel consumption, tire wear, and pit strategy are niche features whose importance is dwarfed by emotional connections, immersive content, and cutting edge graphics. That Greenawalt was able to dribble out this garbage without screwing his face up like he just told a historically awful joke is a testament to his adroitness at the art of bullshit, though I’m not entirely convinced this isn’t just a historically awful joke.

More troubling still is the idea that there is any other side of the “Forza life” beyond the racing side, that racing is itself only half the experience in a fucking racing game. It’s a real shame, too, because Forza is a series with so much untapped potential, potential Turn 10 seems blithely satisfied to squander in their tireless pursuit of “turning car lovers into gamers and gamers into car lovers”, which also doubles as the world’s most diplomatic method of telling hardcore racing sim fans to eat shit. I’ll be taking a rain check, thank you very much.

That's some fine journalism you got there.

No author credited, and maybe that's a good thing because it came off like some message board drivel.

And the fact that you or anyone else takes it so personally, says more about you then him. Why get angry about it, it's a video game and it's his job to sell it.

We have been making fun of him for years. The origional Forza 4 OT title was an amalgamation of every buzzword he had used in the lead up to it's release.

Edit: just saw the author, never seen the site and wouldn't think to look in the top right corner.

Are there any videos yet that show the menus, upgrading menu/interface, car buying, etc? Game is less than a month away and I've only seen demo footage.

You know that "IFCA interview" turned out to be fake, right? They never interviewed Dan.

Wait what?

I recall seeing that interview all over the place back when it was originally published. Not to mention the fact that everything he said in that interview checked out in the game.

Pretty ridiculous if true.

Just getting my cheap MS £££ cards emailed so I can get the Ultimate edition sorted..

My XO Universal Hub turned up this week, so I've got a new rim on it, and it's all working well in FH2, so I think I'm just about set!

I was just boxing the TX Wheel up for storage and I have to say it's a damn fine wheel, the pedals are so-so, maybe I should sell it on, not much use gathering dust..

Is the preload rolling out staggered?
Pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition a while back and when I click it in My Games And Apps, it doesnt show the size like installed games do.
In the UK if that makes any difference.

I had the same thing after a console update with Forza 6 and Gears UE, just restart the console from the Power Settings, then you'll be able to check the size of preloaded games.

Do we know if any of the returning tracks were laser scanned? Like Hockenheimring, Sonoma, Catalunya, Laguna Seca, Road Atlanta? Is there any info about it or maybe someone knows something? Helios?

Also, is it fair to assume, that all the new tracks were laser scanned? And by new I mean the ones that are first time in Forza like Monza, Brands Hatch, CotA, Daytona, Watkins Glen, Lime Rock Park
