MGSV:TPP LAUNCH TRAILER

Why would anyone put a spoiler in a fffriggin launch trailer? I'm not completely sure if that was one as I haven't played every single game, but...

So is time travel going to be a thing is this game?

Yea thats what Im talking about

Are you serious with the time travel? It would be so dumb after all the other games that took place in the distant future ignored such technology, if such thing is true (which I'm 99.9% sure is not) than the plot is so bad you can spoil it for me anyway.

Well, shit.

The last scene is a spoiler, it shows you a scene we never seen, probably reveal a Boss fight.

The first 3 minutes are not spoilery, there is a metaphorical image, but it's not a spoiler, don't understand how can anyone say otherwise.

Yeah that last scene was something new, but not really that unexpected, at least for me, the metaphorical image was not a spoiler..I guess... unless the twist if there is one is something really weird?

Oh I love MGS and cannot wait to play the game.

Also not for nothing, but Sahelanthropus has a distinct ape/gorilla sound when he pulls out/hardens his sword.

Goddamn that's a very nice detail.

What spoiler? That there's a metal gear in the game?

Yea that's a spoiler, as silly as it sounds, they revealed how it looks and the weapon it use, I agree it's not bad and they did it in previous trailers for Mgs games before, but some are extra sensitive, they probably are not watching such trailer anyway though.

If you feel irrevocably spoiled by the fact there's a Metal Gear in a Metal Gear Solid game I really don't know what to say. Read the title much?

He didn't "spoil" anything, he just showed you what it looks like.

I really do get annoyed when prequels have better technology than the sequels, so after they made this Metal Gear they just made Rex and Ray? Two obviously shittier Metal Gears and not to mention the technology that Big Boss is using like his map and GPS system that can see through walls. Guess everyone just forgot about those.

Anyways probably the worst trailer for this game which isn't to say it was bad, it was cool to see Kojima basically say goodbye to his series but after the epicness that was the previous trailers it just doesn't hold up. Red band and Elegia were the best.

For a regular game trailer this would be bad. For the very final Kojima MGS trailer though?!?! WTF? I was expecting MGS2 level e3 trailer spectacular. I thought he'd pull out all the stops and make something amazing. Instead we get a disjointed, strange and overall ugly trailer with some moments of greatness.

Thank you. I was starting to believe I was alone.

Good trailer but probably one of the worst ones Kojima has personally done. He's lost his touch for these over the years since MGS2-3.

I did like the song though!

Eh Kojima is kind of known for putting ridiculous shit like this into his games....so honestly I wouldnt be surprised.

Also, giant robot cock? Seriously Kojima? Makes it a little hard to do much but laugh at that trailer.

Yes I remember the "cock" pit on the orbital frames, that was stupid too.

How is that what pushes you over the edge?

I'm pointing out to the guy I'm quoting that this is an absurd, pretentious, and completely goofy series so this new Metal Gear being more advanced than it should shouldn't faze him. People who take these games seriously must have some incredible selective blindness. These are games where one of the hero's evil twins is the President of the United States. Who wears a Dr. Octopus shit and wields samurai swords.

Everyone's suspension of disbelief should have been obliterated by the end of the first MGS.

Spoiler paranoia driving people to believe everything is a spoiler. Too early to tell if that middle part means anything or if it's just fancy editing.

Doesn't matter, none of us will find out till next week.

Unless the tech was made after the end of Guns of the Patriots

Whip, corny sound effects (yes Rex and Ray had some mechanical groans, but they sounded awesome, this sounds like a parody of them) complete disconnect from the series technology (ala Peace Walker), and just far too many Peace Walker vibes.

Opinions!

I mean... it's kind of hard to make a trailer about your game if you can't even show enemies or weapons, isn't? What are you supposed to even show?

I think if the very basic elements of the games are what you consider spoilers, it's kind of your own fault for clicking on the trailer.

Surprisingly weak trailer. Kojima's a master at cutting these things, but this was kinda eh. But I did like how it used the evolution of the metal gears mechs themselves as a through line. Plus ST-84's human form looks boss as fuck. Sword-whip!

That one Legacy Collection trailer actually worked better as a series retrospective anyway. Pretty sure that wasn't even Kojima.

You will never fight a rendition of this Metal Gear in Revengeance 2.
Fucking OUCH

My interpretation of the "spoiler:" No, it's not a literal transformation. Big Boss doesn't suddenly grow an eye in a fire. But I don't think it's as simple as "Big Boss is becoming a villain" either. Skullface as a character seems to play a massive role in his psyche, perhaps to the point of
Dissociative Identity Disorder. When I say "Big Boss is Skullface," I mean "some part of Skullface has embedded itself into Big Bosses conciousness."

Of course, this is just a theory since I'm staying the hell away from the spoiler thread, but I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be on the right lines.

GUYS.

I'll put this in spoilers just in case, idk
What if by the end of this game, the final boss fight is actually against solid snake? A recreation of the original, but instead of playing as solid snake, you are playing as big boss. The series comes full circle.

This trailer was a thing of beauty. Though this is the end of an era, I'm happy Kojima's taking his series out with an absolutely monumental bang!

Agreed, but more than likely it might just be Kojima just isn't a very good film editor!! Could just be that he's not exactly the world's greatest at some particular narrow discipline within game development, when he's spent the last 20+ years directing and basically being a manager, and his DIY job isn't fantastically edited because of that.

It wasn't a very good trailer overall really, but then again it was just edited footage done by one guy, as opposed to the other showreels that we get in video games where studios invest tens of thousands of dollars and have their entire staff working on it for weeks. This is just the standard of what you can do with capture software and Final Cut Pro, not necessarily creating actual new environments and assets which you get for many of the most stunning trailers.

Metal Gear takes itself way too seriously.

Curious to see how they'll end the very convoluted saga with this game.

It does and it doesn't. You'll have a scene with child soldiers and someone probably getting raped in an audio log and then you can hide in a box with a poster of a model that you can use to lure guards or fulton a sheep for your Mother Base.

Pretty sure I am in the minority but that was a pretty poor trailer. Shlocky appeal to nostalgia and a partial cutscene which probably would have been better left to the player seeing it in game for the first time.

Forget other games, even MGS V has had better trailers than this before. :/

Trailer Spoiler Discussion
Personally, it's not the new metal gear stuff that I find spoilerish, it's this shot of Big Boss burned, transitionning into Skullface.

I mean, that has to be Big Boss after being burned by a lighter and spray can by Solid Snake in "MG2 Solid Snake"...

I suppose it's possible that it was made solely for impact in the trailer, but usually, when soemthing is modeled, it's because it has uses in-game. Then again, the Zombie Face Camo in MGS4 did exist after all, so who knows... Maybe it's just an unlockable skin used to great drama... But still, it would suck if Kojima spoiled the epilogue of this game in this trailer.

I don't get how it would be possible if
Skullface and Big Boss are at the same place at the same time a lot (Like in Ground Zeroes). Am I missing something?

Kojima has done multiple trailers before, this is just one of his weaker ones.

So that whip that ST-84 pulls out of itself has the same ashy effect that the Skulls and Quiet have.
Pretty sure it works the same way as the Skulls materializing guns out of their hands.
