Forza Motorsport 6 has "wet weather, 3D puddles and night races" + more

Meh, i really want to use the Simulation steering setting when using the pad, as it's great when you don't have to counter-steer..

Counter-steering however? a bit too touchy and i've hassled with the steering deadzone but no avail :/

Shame.

EDIT: and sense of speed is still lacking, i can brake but i feel no deceleration nor can i "see" it without looking at the speedo. Altho this has always(?) been with forza/gt

I love that you can turn off Drivatar aggressiveness in the options. Hopefully people won't be pissed at mine crashing into them as much now. :)

Quick pic I took of Rio.

SIM steering is way too touchy for a pad.

As for the sense of deceleration, you aren't alone, it bothers me, and it was the same in FM5, previous Forzas were much better at it.

Braking feels weird...

+Plays great.
+Looks great.
+The rain effects looks great.
+Indy race was amazing.

-Graphics does not "WOW" me.
-On the rain race track your car looks very peculiar as if it does not belong there. It almost looks as if your car was cut and pasted on the track. Very odd.

I played on the night track now, kind of expected more dynamic shadows but for what's there it's great.

I'll honestly take forza's solid 60fps over having more lighting and lens flare with an unstable frame rate, both have their place but for this kind of game I prefer framerates.

the ability to turn down aggression is excellent. I'm glad I pre-ordered the ultimate edition I do love the forza series of games and this seems like the game that forza 5 should of been.

So.. Indycar. That was quite the anti-climax. I still think the sense of speed should be a bit better and it was also far too easy. For example no aero push when driving behind other cars on corners was evident.

Rainy Sebring:
The standing water on the track is a nice touch, although at some places it's where i would never imagine it at Sebring. Also needs way more bumps on T1/final corner. Also not sure if you can actually see the Tower that the Tower corner is named after.

Handling, dunno. It's the same but with less grip :D

I was just watching the fastest leaderboard times in the demo, and noticed that telemetry in replay is back!

wheey!

BTW, my console it set to UK, and i downloaded it pretty quick a few hours ago.

Wow.. FM5 to that is a big leap IMO..

Just downloading the demo now!

[edit] well I'd love to download it, 160mbps internet connection and just speed tested at:
1QAcAqs.png

...and it's stuck at 14% for the last 20 minutes....

Check the Bandwidth Usage in Network Settings.
Download speeds on the X1 have been terrible for me the past few days.
Pausing and resuming sometimes helps.

I know some of you are interested in this stuff.

I just received my review copy of the game. The embargo details are:

Forza 6 streaming embargo lifts Friday, Sept. 4, at 9:00 a.m. PDT. Review embargo lifts Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 12:01 a.m. PDT

If you're interested, follow me on Twitch so you can get alerted when I go live (which is soon!)

shit... now that is how you do wet weather in a game... looks phenomenal and the feeling of driving on a wet road is so much better than any before that I have tried that always felt like I was just ice skating.

well done.. now please tell me t10 will be adding more rain track options via dlc...

The game feels so much more grippy now; feeling the tires bite when regaining traction in the 430 is wonderful. I feel like I'm able to handle turns at higher speed than I could in 5. I don't know if this year of indycars had improvements or if Forza 6 is really that much different than 5, but that thing was fucking PLANTED and quite agile.
The new Ford GT feels really civilized for what it is as well.

Rain drops on the windshield running at 30fps is a fucking bad idea. It makes the whole experience feel like it's running at 30fps. Just switch between cameras to notice the big difference in fluidity IMO.

Also..... can Turn10 please implemented ANY kind of cheap shader based AA for Christ's sake!? Yeah even shitty FXAA would be better than the aliasing mess that hurts the eyes right now....

Everything else is top notch.

Sebring in the rain loops superb. Really love the lighting in the pits with the pitboxes. Also the reflection on the wettarmac is pretty.

Have your pre-ordered? I have and for me it just says downloading Forza Motorsport 6 and not the "...demo".
20% in 2 hours of the whole 44gig game would be an ok speed, but not for the 12gig demo.

Wasn't something messed up with the demo of FH2 and pre-orders/pre-loading as well? Maybe it's the same here.

Edit1: Yep, it's downloading the whole thing for me, just checked my router traffic.

Edit2: On the right side of my download queue (way back right) was an extra tile for just the demo. Downloading that now, problem solved for me.

I guess some of you guys have eagle eyes, because I don't see a problem with the rain. Its just there. The physics of the wet weather is the story. Best wet driving physics I've ever experienced in a racing game. Rain on the windshield moves with the car. That's all I really cared about visually from rain and they delivered that.

Just played through the demo. So generous - giving us five tracks - that would have been a whole game in the 8/16 bit days.

I love the rain. It looks amazing, and feels really convincing, especially the deep puddles. First racing game I've played where rain feels like a physical element on the track rather than a graphical effect and a simple grip reduction.

AA is a lot cleaner than FM5. From a very brief play it seems to be employing a similar solution to DC [smooth during movement, jaggy when not], but arguably cleans up better due to the superior refresh rate?

It's a shame that after seeing wet weather like this it makes the dry daytime tracks feel plain and boring visually, the track could do with rubber marble buildup in corners or streaks of mud and grass along the edges in real time, something to give the static daytime tracks some more life, the tyre walls which explode and leaves from the trees help but it's not enough.

FM.net has some more info up about the demo and the game.

marble buildup is probably a bit too motorsport for this game though. Would be funny to see that form over a 3 lap race.

This. When I played Rio and Lime Rock it was FM5 all over. But Yas Marina and Sebring were top notch!

Played the demo and it's good (and pre-ordered) but I can't help but feel it's only slightly incremental over FM5 which is a little disappointing.

The wet weather looks good but there is still something lacking with the lighting in my opinion.

This is a clip I made of Project Cars (admittedly far from locked 60fps)

SWzTq5Y.gif

and a similar(ish) shot from FM6

h65lzES.gif

The Project Cars shot is probably overly flattering (and it's tearing to hell) but there is a clear difference in the quality of the lighting that I wish Forza could replicate little better.

As mentioned elsewhere it does a great job of making you feel you are driving in the wet, I just think the visuals at times are making the cars look stuck on in comparison.

Thoughts?

i think project cars is good example of what can be done without locking a perfect 60fps and motorsport is what can be done with a locked 60fps on the xbox one. I think if we want more in terms of gfx from forza then we'd have to wait for the next generation of consoles or for forza to be available on pc. I dont think forza 7 will be much different in terms of looks just ike 5 is to 6.

Get on it everyone!

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/ForzaFuel

The demo will kick off the #FORZAFUEL Challenge. Xbox is selecting the three fastest drivers from the US, UK, Canada, France and Germany to be taken on an all-expenses paid trip to Circuit of the Americas, Texas for the ultimate Forza challenge.

Two fans will be chosen based on their lap times in the official “Forza Fuel” Rivals challenge found in the demo – your speed will earn you a place. Our third space goes to a wild card. So don’t worry if you don’t hit the top spots, one additional winner will be chosen at random, just for taking part. Note that players must complete the entire Forza Motorsport 6 demo experience before the Forza Fuel Rivals challenge will open up and be available to play.
