wouldn't it be awesome if both Braves-Age and Twins-Age both rose from the dead in the last week to join the playoff race out of nowhere?
then we met in the world series and got our revenge, yes it would be awesome. But yeah, its nice to have a race to watch at the end, a couple weeks ago it looked like there wouldn't be much to watch.captmcblack said:wouldn't it be awesome if both Braves-Age and Twins-Age both rose from the dead in the last week to join the playoff race out of nowhere?
NEW YORKWith Citi Field attendance during Sunday's matchup barely reaching 70 percent, Mets pitcher John Maine let fans who actually came to see the bottom two NL East teams play shout out pitch requests during Nationals at bats. "What's that? A slider? I haven't thrown that old classic in a while, but I'll give it a go," Maine said during the fourth inning. "All right, submarine pitch, then a palm ball. That's a weird one, but if you want to see me throw one of those, let's hear you scream!" Requests were no longer accepted after a teenage boy asked Maine to "throw something faster than 91 miles per hour," to which Maine responded, "Shut the hell up."

Worst off season signing ever in chicago sports history.
Chicago Tribune said:If the Cubs want to swap bad contracts, as they did in the Hundley deal, the Giants may be Hendry's best option. Center fielder Aaron Rowand has not put up the kind of numbers expected in San Francisco and has three years remaining for $36 million.
Rowand is two years removed from a 27-homer, 89-RBI season for the Phillies and would be a good fit in the Cubs clubhouse.
"Cubs fans would fall in love with him, for sure," Cubs outfielder Reed Johnson said. "He did well on the other side of town, and I know people ... appreciate the way he plays the game."

oh and a subdued celebration after tonights win. might have the NL West locked up tomorrow night

Still going to be tough. The marlins have been hard to beat for us this season (7-8 record against them). But with the way we are playing now, it feels like we could sweep anybody...expect for the phillies. (i'm sure Zep is happy to know that the only two losses in the last 15 were against them.) Washington has usually played us tough the past few years but the past 4 or 5 games against them we have played like we are supposed to against them. I hope that continues. Derek Lowe goes today, he hasn't been too good lately. He is known as a "big game" pitcher, i hope he lives up to that.AnEternalEnigma said:long post

Langerhans should be kicked out of Chipper's hunting group.carlos said:To add insult to injury, Mike Morse (who has homered twice in two days after years without a homer), was traded to the nats inexchange for:
Ryan Langerhans....
even now he finds a way to screw us over...
on a related note, its a shame Pete Orr isn't in there today to help out the braves
