To be fair, between official PR and irrational armchair analyst #1356, I'd still assume official PR knows more.
That they would insist on the date at that point, knowing they were exposing themselves to a huge backlash is mindblowing. There was literally no benefit to lying about the release date of the game.

Ugh...The delay sucked a good chunk of the hype out of PV03 for me. Trailer was awesome, and actually felt like a mix of gameplay/cutscene footage, rather than PV01/2, but....idk.

Not sure how they could have done it differently (depending on how far ahead of time they knew), but there was probably a better way to do this.
