Persona 5 delayed to Summer 2016 for PS3/PS4

Oh well, at least this way I might own a PS4 by the time it comes out. Wasn't too keen of having to settle for the PS3 version, to be honest. Besides, I'm kinda relieved to see at least one long JRPG delayed. I'm barely going to have time for TitS SC and Cold Steel as it is. Persona 5 on top of that would've just been insane.

There's no guarantees that'll come out this year.
 
FUCKING SHIT!

In the back of my heart I knew, but I chose to believe Atlus US spouting 2015 all the time. I get that they may have been kept in the dark, doesn't mean it doesn't hurt any less.

Personally I don't care about the delay but what pisses me off is that until very recently Atlus kept insisting it was coming out this year and that's a pretty shitty thing to do.

As much as I appreciate the unconventional intro... What a weird way to start a press release.
 
I totally expected this, so I'm not upset. Dissapointed, but not upset. It was bound to happen. John overspoke, but he probably was assured. Cut him some slack.

So is this gonna end up being the last released cross gen game? I can't believe they're releasing a PS3 game in 2016 lol.
 
I am sad, but on the plus side, I might be able to get the E3 deal discount from Amazon or Best Buy next year. Neither retailer had it on their list this year.

this's true. & also a good reason to always take anything someone in his position might say with a grain of salt. more salt earlier = less salt later :) ...
 
OK so I could live with early 2016 or even Spring. But Summer? FFS Atlus. There are a ton of other games I can play in the meantime, but I really want P5. At least the game looks amazing.

Really I had enough games to play this holiday and into spring so I was really ok with this. I'd much rather have it polished then rushed like it was starting to feel like. Persona 5 as a summer game next year would be just perfect.



But seriously guys, stop freaking believing PR people as gospel. They are just PR people.

Why are people so salty about this? Is it really such a pain to wait? Would you rather have an excellent, well put together joy ride or a broken mess with a coat of persona? This is nothing but good news for us. I really don't mind waiting at all. I guess I'm more patient than most?

Winter 2014 -----> 2015 -----> 2015 -----> No seriously guys 2015 -----> mid-late 2016



Again this is keeping in mind the last main-line entry released 8 years before this new one is out. The salt is real, expected, and deserved.


Could also throw out that this should have been the first JRPG on the PS4, and now it's releasing in the same year as a mainline Final Fantasy and Star Ocean 5, along a slew of others, so...
 
I expected a delay. No way they could get a full press and a release out in under 3 months. The new trailer looks awesome. Atlus just needs to take as much time as possible to polish it and make it awesome.
 
I have no issue with the delay as I'll have games to tide me over until then. Plus, I'll have all the time to completely enjoy P5 without any other games distracting me.

I think most expected a delay(in spite of Atlus USA's constant source of almost belittling people that didn't have faith it would hit 2015), I just think people probably expected a season or two delay, not, ya know. four.
 
I'm actually quite relieved by this announcement. There are already quite a number of games that I plan on buying this year, so this is a slight relief on my budget. Other then that, I don't mind waiting a bit more as it will definitely be more beneficial in the long run in terms of the quality of the game.
 
It definitely sucks that we got such a huge delay, but hey if its supposed to make the game better, why not. Its annoying how they kept reassuring us of a 2015 release, but its understandable.

Also, its better for me since I have a shitload of things to do this year. And yeah, 2016 is officially one of the craziest years as far as game releases go. Super excited for a bunch of games.
 
This is more than fine Atlus. Please take all the time you need. After that Trailer I don't even think I am worthy.
