Replaying the skullface mission and it's so weird how huey is reluctant to tell ocelot where skullface is. Why? He's supposedly held against his will by the guy for years. Ocelot was threatening TO MELT HUEYS FUCKING LEGS. Why the trepidation, in giving up the intel? You don't even like the motherfucker. I was thinking what if Miller is threatening Huey not to talk for whatever reason. While Ocelot was threatening Huey. Kaz is just starring at huey, his expression obscured by his shades. Kaz is usually the bad cop to ocelots good cop. Huey's entire arch is just weird in how much of a piece of shit he seemingly is. And we have this unresolved plot thread that is "eyes on kazuhira". The guy who's apparently embezzling funds.


I'm giving this too much thought, we probably won't get answers. Maybe there aren't any.

Huey is cowardly opportunist. He was probably trying to figure out how to screw over the Boss and Miller again without them taking possession of/destroying Sahelanthropus.

The outfit you choose for her doesn't affect the cutscenes, I'm pretty sure.

I had her in the Gold outfit during the torture scene but I guess they didn't want anything obscuring your view of the veins in her tits.

Ah, the scene where they electrocute her boobs and make her soaking wet with water.

Actually, this cutscene is like the one and only instance where a boob shot feels somewhat appropriate. Namely, the bit where the camera pans over Quiet's body as Kaz says, "You look pretty healthy to me." So showing she's made a full recovery despite being set on fire and falling out a fifth-floor window.

I wonder if anyone will ever ask Kojima about the boob and butt shots.

My interpretation of the mirror scene is Venom's smirk and nod is him agreeing with BB and feeling good about the two-man legend, but when they flip the tape and there's the time lapse and Solid Snake is at his doorstep in Outer Heaven, Venom curses his fate as an expendable meat shield and probably isn't too happy with BB.

I've come to really like Venom, so it's bittersweet that this is the first and last time we see him. (In the modern 3D games, I mean)

I think Chapter 2 being called Race works better with Mission 51 involved. That ending had a very child vs adult, generation vs generation feel. The "race" of child vs the "race" of adult, perhaps?

Eh, wut? Nah, it was definitely supposed to be more ethnic conflict stuff, but Konami wasn't having any of it because Kojima blew the budget before he reached that point and they didn't want to compromise the game by following through with taboo content.

Well, remember the events go MG and MG2 are between this and MGS, where Miller helps Snake against Big Boss, so surely there's some big falling out b/w Ocelot and Miller.

either way, people fixating on how 'weird' Ocelot acts is a little confusing. Are people expecting the same brash 20 year old from 20 years ago?

I like the comic but my problem is that the Venom presented in the game would probably not be keen on the "So I'm going to gather all the world's nukes and a shitload of child soldiers and just fuck the world up because BOSS" plan.

And we're never going to know how Big Boss got there mentally.

even for just the gameplay I still wanted it though because i like to record all my gameplay (my 'playthrough story') and archive it, just a dumb half-ocd thing... where I guess i figure since it is supposed to be her outfit (so she can breath or whatever excuse it was to make her naked) then i might as well use it.


he's a sort of naive coward so i think his tendency is to try ignore things and pretend they aren't happening and maybe they'll go away

I can understand this with regard to strangelove, not admitting to himself or others just how low he can go. But I don't see this at all interfering with him telling his ALLIES to stop the walking death machine he built under duress. He feels responsible for it, I don't see why he wouldn't want it stopped.

I don't like it either, but fwiw, it's intentional. Kojima wants you to feel phantom pain. He gave you an OP partner with a badass design and T&A to gawk at, someone who doesn't even talk so she can't even be disagreeable (beyond the whole murder thing), and in the late game you even unlock outfits for her that give her a shred of dignity... and then...

She's gone.

Maybe Konami will sell her back to you in the "Get Your Tits Back Pack."

As ridiculous as it'd be, I'd be fine if Venom simply hallucinated her being there, allowing you to take her out in the field.

Sure, it'd make no sense how real bullets are flying out of the hills and hitting your enemies, but at least you could continue to go on missions with her.

what do you mean by functional

as in the open world is designed entirely in service to the core gameplay of free infiltration. the open world in the just cause games is a similar comparison because it is designed almost entirely in servitude of the core gameplay design.

I honestly feel like rockstar is the only one that gets them right. Both mgs5 and witcher 3 have open worlds that tend to get in the way for different reasons

rockstar's way of doing an open world might not be able to apply to mgsv though. that's kind of the point. not all open world games are the same, and the worlds are going to reflect that.

That was Zanzibar Land doing all that crazy stuff, Outer Heaven wasn't really doing anything. The west received intelligence that OH had a weapon of mass destruction and wanted to get to the bottom of it, that's pretty much it.


Outer Heaven probably wasn't anything different than MSF/DD, something like Operation Intrude N313 could've easily happened around PW if the world got wind of ZEKE for instance.

...they could've avoided the need for therapy, and thus nakedness, by simply not setting her on fire. Just have Ishmael kung-fu fight her and roundhouse kick her out the windows into some shrubbery.

She'd still have the vocal cord parasites later and she'd still have to abstain from talking to avoid killing the man she loves.

But she could, like, wear pants.

honestly the chapter cards should have been scrapped if it wasn't looking like the content to fill chapter 2 and beyond could be finished. i do have a few ideas why they're still there though, but i don't think we'll ever know the true context.
