Rock Band 4 announced for PS4 and Xbox One

So there's NO real way to get Rb2 soundtrack on rb4? Easily the best soundtrack.

I really want rock lobster from Rb3 (i think in rb3?) and need it somehow.

Yeah, same. I would much rather have a PS4 copy but I have literally hundreds of dollars of DLC on XBL. Although the lack of RBN support means my catalog is like, cut in half at least. So that sucks too. I'm still excited for RB4 but every time I read about it I'm disappointed a little

Early 2016 for separate instruments. RB2 and Beatles drums will work: PS4 or with the adapter, Xbox One.

Yep, I've been buying multiplats on PlayStation 4 all generation, but keeping my Xbox 360 DLC made getting the Xbox One version a no-brainer.

Wait wait wait, I thought RB1 and 2 exports will carry over?

Also, does somebody want to break down pre-order bonuses for me? As far as the pre order songs, do I have to order from a certain place? Does band in a box matter? Digital, physical, etc?

RB1 and RB2 exports carry over, but officially, you're not able to get the RB2 export any more if you don't have it already. (Some people are able to get working codes from EA Support. YMMV) It seems like the RB1 export will soon go down too as the Rock Band Twitter has been reporting it as "no longer supported", although it is still up on both the Xbox and Playstation stores. RB3 export is not supported in any way, but it seems they're looking into it.

As for preorder bonuses (US, at least)...

If you preorder the guitar bundle or band in a box bundle from Gamestop or Amazon, you get a trackpack of 30 bonus songs from Harmonix Bands:

Preordering a digital copy from the PSN store nets you some bonus songs if you're a PS+ member:

As far as I know, no preorder bonuses for those who preorder just the game itself. I believe that's all out there, though someone correct me if I'm wrong.
 
So will I need the RB1 disc for the export or is the key enough? I'm reading different views on that...
 
Last week someone posted a list of songs that were 99 cents. I'm trying to track that down to get some of those before the price gets bumped up. Anyone know the link to the list?
 
According to the Rock Band Twitter account, they're actively looking into a RB3 export and will probably send surveys to get feedback on requested features.

Weird Question.

How's the Bluetooth range for Rock Band 1 and 2 instruments?

How far can they be from the dongle? How far with a brick wall between the is dongle and instruments?

Nice, there's a search engine at the top where you can type in keywords, typing in stuff like "metal" brings up only metal songs being an example. Or part of a specific song name will bring that up!

Also "Metropolis Pt1" confirmed for final tier on every instrument. It's officially this games "Painkiller" or "Llama".

EDIT: Wait there's more, you gotta download every song seperately, no batch downloads of bought songs. Not so hype.

Even for exports? So I have manually grab every song from Rock Band 1?
 
Weird DLC region question.

I have a PAL copy of RB3, so I bought my DLC through the UK PSN store.
If I want that to carry over to RB4, I guess I need a PAL copy of RB4?

On top of that, if I buy the RB1 export key, and beg to EA for RB2 export key (I have a US copy), I also need to get their PAL variant, I guess?

Update on Freestyle Guitar solos with GH guitar controllers: System knows when there's a GH guitar plugged and the freestyle solos cut out the phases that require the bottom 5 frets and replace them with regular phases that use the regular 5 frets.

Oof, that's going to be painful... that's a lot of songs to go through. Was hoping for the system to see which songs you had purchased and queue up those downloads.

Forgive the ignorance, I haven't kept up much since I preordered the Band in the Box, but will RB4 have Double bass drum support? Actual technical support and/or chart support?
 
I've forgiven a lot of iffy things, from omitted features to no ION support, to remain hyped for this game. Not being able to just cue up a download for my songs is another one of those things that I'm willing to overlook.

However, if there isn't even an option to simply sort the store to only show songs that you have purchased, that might be the final straw for me. I'm a father of a new baby, I don't have a ton of time to play anyways and I do not want to spend the few hours a week I can game sorting through the thousands of songs on the store to find the couple hundred I own.

Please, please tell me you can sort the store by purchased songs.

a lot of what they've played so far seems really unfun for vocals

especially whatever this song is

its a mess for every instrument


I can't decide if i'm hyped or just nostalgic about rock band yet :\

Fairly certain the RB drumsets have supported plugging in two kick pedals in past iterations (and I remember reading somewhere that's the case here), but not sure if the game will chart the double bass drum or not.

You can always buy it off the Xbox.com store. It's not very nice and clean, but it should work.

Are you talking about the export of the Blitz songs or DLC you bought for it? For the export, you'll have to do that through the game itself. Any DLC you bought for it is considered a RB purchase. Both should be recognized by RB4 if they're transferable and while we're not clear on the exact process, the game searches your purchase history for the songs you own and you can redownload them.

Any wired USB mic should work just fine.
 
So if I had previously exported 1 into 2, and 2 into 3 I should be all set RE: 1/2 right?

I also exported Lego and Green Day, but know not to expect them.
