Rock Band 4 announced for PS4 and Xbox One

I know! I'm ridiculously excited. Honestly, I'm just as excited as I was for Phantom Pain, and that's my favorite series.

I have been trying to get my friends hyped for more Rockband. :D Had a few RB3 nights recently, just so everyone has some practice.

I would think that they would use the RB3 versions of the songs as some songs have added trill lanes, different guitar charts, and it would open up the possibility of bringing back keys (yes I'm still hoping they come back)

Quick question guys. Is it possible that songs on GH Live's soundtrack come to RB4 as DLC? Debating between the two right now (have RB4 currently preordered) but the GH list has a couple of songs I would really like to play and would be fine paying for them as DLC (namely the alt-j and War on Drugs songs).

Soundtrack's going to determine which one I get so any feedback is appreciated.

I'm bummed about the Xbox One issues with compatibility, but I own too many instruments and DLC on Xbox 360 to just jump ship to PS4 so I'll have to suck it up.

Yes, very possible. Some of them already are DLC.

I'm excited to play RB4 but still worried about a lot of things regarding song compatibility and how long it'll take to get RB3 songs working...

RB drummers, what pedal do you guys recommend getting? I broke so many plastic RB2/3 pedals back in the day so I bought a destroyer pedal, which supposedly had a life time warranty! And then it broke and the fuckin cheapskate wont answer ANY form of contact :/

Activision aren't bragging as exclusivity, and neither are Harmonix. I'd say that at this point pretty much every song is likely to appear as DLC on the competing game.

One more question as I've asked enough at this point, does this game still have the same rewind when pausing mechanic that RB3 had? I know a lot of features are currently missing, but that's one of the things introduced in RB3 that were universally positive across every instrument, so I hoped that it would at least be a day one feature.

So let's get this straight, if you're in the US and you preordered, you've got at least 75 new songs coming your way on day 1, with the ability to play the vast majority of your past DLC. How's that "much less songs"?

This is the only Rock Band game for this console gen. It will continue to grow and evolve and eventually have a feature set that is more comparable to RB3 than it is today. It's nice to see them commit to new features beyond the usual string of ongoing new DLC.

Well I am not from US and I am comparing the on-disc songs from the last two games. Rock Band 2 had 84 songs + the 20 free ones if you want to include them. And I am fully aware of their business plan with updating RB4 which I just talked about on the previous page. Like I said it will take a long time before this game has surpassed Rock Band 3's content, and we have no idea what they will include or how long it's going to take. Their first update patch is not going to come until December and that's only for individual trackspeed and some new breakneck speed features. There might be more, but how long will it take them to add a huge feature like Online mode? We are paying full price (for me more than the previous games) for a game with a lot of omitted features that was a given in the prequels, and there is no guarantee of what Harmonix will add in the future since they have been so vague about detailing their future plans.

Nice seeing an updated chart! However, how are they gonna get GH 2 PS2 guitars to work on PS4? And it's a bummer that Mad Catz bassdoesnt won't work on Rock Band 4.

Did you have trouble with the RB2 pedal? It had the metal inlay on it. Had one plastic pedal we modded by cutting a piece of wood to the same size and drilling a hole in it for the pin to hold it in place, never had any trouble with it.

So am I seeing this right or is there no possibility to pre-order the game digitally on PS4 in Europe. Meaning I only get the extra songs if I preorder physical at amazon?

I think I'm out.
The PS+ US preorder songs were at least half decent (would prefer the XB1 Gold ones much more though) while I don't care much about the amazon/Game bonus preorder tracks. Not to mention that I would have to pay either 150 or 300 € to get them.

I would maaaaybe go for the guitar bundle as I don't have a second one, but there's just been too much uncertainty around this game for me to drop more money.
I'll just wait and see how this turns out. Legacy DLC, exclusive DLC availability, RB3 export, missing features, how the actual content is etc.

Yep, I went through like 5 RB2 pedals. They'd all break at the joint where it connects to the base after so many heavy double-bass hits in the harder songs. :/

It's official, Rock Band is now sold out in its bundle form with the legacy adaptor in the UK, Amazon and GAME sold out this morning - the only other retailer stocking (that I can find) was 365 games - they had stock until this afternoon.

Nowhere else in the UK sells this bundle that I know of - the legacy adaptors will be selling for stupid money on eBay - watch this (unfortunate) space

Check the Mad Catz site. They sell it online.

Good point actually - but you can't actually buy a Solus copy of the game for Xbox One in the UK - so people are stuck if they want to use legacy instruments and actually play Rock Band 4 without buying a guitar or band bundle

Do they typically do songs with no guitar parts?

There have been some, although admittedly I can't think of any HMX released songs from the non-keys era that lacked them.

EDIT: Come to think of it, there was Dawn Patrol by Megadeth, but that was part of an album. But songs with missing instruments have been released here and there. I would be surprised by a Royal Blood pack though, people would probably moan about the price of a pack that cuts out a whole instrument.

I'm about to change my Band in a Box order to a guitar bundle, and holy shit, I didn't know it was that expensive. I hope they're not gonna struggle with Guitar Hero on shelves next to it for 60€ less :/

Facing a dilemma

I have a good working drum set from 3(maybe 2) with cymbal kit

I have a gh5 guitar

I kind of want new drums for the 2nd bass pedal/to have new stuff but also I could save a lot if I just got the guitar bundle.

New guitar has the sensor for the latency syncing right?

What are other people with working instruments doing?

There were a few people making a killing off ebay selling pre-cut and pre-drilled diamond plate to be screwed in to the broken pedals. I ordered one and never had a problem again.

my rock band 1 pedal snapped in the middle and I cut a piece of eigth inch thick sheet metal, sand blasted it, and bolted it onto the pedal. Problem solved

My RB1 stock pedal snapped during Run To The Hills about 4 months after RB1 released. Purchased some all metal plate to take it's placed, last a pretty long time before I upgraded to ION, then upgraded that again

If a friend and I are both signed onto Live on xbox one, at the same time, will we have access to our combined dlc pool (after downloading, obv)?

Friend has >2000 dlc songs
I have > 500 (+digital game & future dlc)

The console is his primary, but my account is on it. Unfortunately, he is unable to purchase the game because he is unemployed atm. If I buy the digital version of the game, will the game be able to combine libraries on his console? Currently not sure if I'm gonna keep my band bundle order, so considering other options.

So a Roadcrew member recieved their copy and apparently ps3 ions work with rb4 :o

That is great news for PS4 owners! Makes me regret getting an Xbone just to play RB4 and bring over all my DLC from xbox 360. :\ Hopefully we will get some good news from Xbone owners too.

I was always curious about a wired controller couldn't be used on xbone? maybe a software/firmware update to read it proprerly? It just seems like the easiest thing from my untrained eye to accommodate.

I'm pretty mad that ions don't work on xbox. I am mad at Microsoft, not hmx. Their attempts at control are impacting satisfaction and usability, just like with their original announcement of a digital only box. Give me my wired instruments!

I wonder if I should just get RB3 digitally for 20EUR instead of looking for a copy to export my RB2. I mean, atleast I won't have to deal with codes for RB3 then if they were to ever offer that export. And it will cost me 3 EUR more.

RB2/3 drums and for that matter beatles already have support for double bass.
On RB3 you can just plug in another pedal into the black unused port.

From there you can make it a second bass or a hi-hat pedal (useless outside of drumfills and freestyle drums)

Anyone making a Rock Band GAF community? The Destiny GAF one is doing pretty good from the looks of it

FurizzlyBear is doing the OT but we wont have much of a community until some sort of online gets implemented. I suppose we could all share fun songs and whatnot.

Do they typically do songs with no guitar parts?

As above, Dream Genie just doubles up the bass, a Royal Blood pack would probably do the same. It's not like the casual player will notice they are actually playing bass parts, it's so distorted it sounds basically like a guitar.
