Tell your girl friend that

Man, I can't stand this whole Netflix and chill thing.

Seems terrible for getting to know someone. Active dates are so much better.

Hello GAF I need to come up with some advice for that friend of mine.

There's this super cute girl he keeps hanging out with. She obviously loves spending time with him and even got into Rock Band so she could play with him.
Still, he friendzones her even though they occasionally chill together in the same bed and watch Netflix while she cuddles with him.

What should I tell him to make him ask her out.

(I talked to the girl and yes indeed that's what she'd want but she's too shy)
This doesn't necessarily mean anything..did you ask ya boy?

She's a big girl. She already knows what's up. If she gets hurt that's her problem.

Worry about yourself. Don't let other people's drama consume your thoughts. Fuck em

Netflix and chill ain't about getting to know someone.

That's the context I've seen it used it. The early stages. Heck even first dates! C'mon at least try to impress a girl.

You don't really hear Netflix and chill used amongst bf/gf.

Is he? Flip the sexes in the scenario, do you still feel the same way?

So should his friend automatically toss her the second he feels she might like him? Is the friendship not enough?

He lies in bed with her cuddling and isn't interested in dating her. He should tell her he is not interested.

Lol who does Netflix and chill to get to know a person? Don't it wrong if that's what you are aiming for.

are you sure they're not just fucking? the dude is getting all of the benefits of a relationship without any of the bs. of course he doesn't want to "progress it"

Nothing? It's his life, let him figure it out.

Because that's what true friends are for right. Abandoning you to your own devices while they gossip about you on a gaming forum.

OP tell him what's going on. Maybe he's shy too.

Edit: I see you have already.

It's not really a friendship if one party is crushing on the other expecting to go further. They can still be friends, but if she's looking for a boyfriend, his friend should at least have the courtesy to say that he's comfortable with just being friends who cuddle in bed together...

If she never brought it up, why would he assume that she isn't okay with the situation? I mean...I assume these are adults. If an adult wants more out of whatever relationship they have with someone they should speak up. And heck, even if you're not bold enough to speak up, you could text it...or not continue doing it. The male friend isn't a mind reader.

lol. i'm aware of it's intended use. but i see it's a common first date thing. like for real. oh well, guess it's a great struggle date.
I just think nowadays people want to scratch that itch without investing too much time and energy, but also not "feeling like a slut". If you vibe during/after, great keep it going. Else move on.

I made a girl wait through 4 episodes of Battlestar Galactica before I put the moves on her. That shit was good. And we "got to know each other". But I agree with you. I'd never ask a girl to come over for "Netflix and chill" that I had any intention of getting to know better.

Just to be clear Netflix and Chill isn't replacing the type of dates you're talking about. It's replacing making out in a drive-in or the back of a movie theater for high school/ college age kids.

My generation said, "wanna have some coffee upstairs?" after the date.

Well I obviously told him but he doesn't want to progress in that matter. I told him to at least tell her that he doesn't want to but he won't do that.

He already knows that she wants more out of this relationship. Sure the ball is in her court if she wants a relationship, but he also has this knowledge, so also has a responsibility to look at this situation and say "Wow, to 99% of people I would be leading this person on."

Not sure when it started, but it's basically code for "let's see what happens". Legs and vaginas will be shaved/trimmed.

Ah, I was confused because the past "netflix and chill" evening I've been fortunate enough to participate in literally began with Netflix and chilling.

You guys need to get the science of Netflix and Chill. OP's friend is a cool dude who likes to cuddle and play rock band and wants nothing more

People thinking inviting a girl to hang out at your place possibly for sex without ever explicitly mentioning sex is a some sort of modern netflix meme phenomenon..this shit has been going on since we lived in caves.

he has the awareness of a sloth when it comes to knowing that a girl actually wants sex like most guys do. Tell her to initiate it because he aint gonna do it.
