Halo 5 - Its been a long time since I've been this hyped for a game.

I'm in my mid 30's with two kids, a busy career yet for the first time in a long time i'm at the next level of excited for the release of Halo 5.

I loved the Beta but listening to the whole first season of the Hunt the Truth podcast coming back from a work trip yesterday pushed me over the edge. (Need to find a deal on the Fall of Reach audio book next).

I'm taking a couple of days off for the release day.

Halo GAF how are you coping?
 
From an outsider, this seems like the most tepid anticipation for a halo release i've ever seen.

Game looked like a ton of fun in the streams though!

And I really mean it. No sarcasm or that jazz but genuinely happy that people are hyped for a game :) Because to be honest it barely happens for me anymore or it isn't that Raging fire I once had but more of a quiet smolder.
 
I just read something that deflated a bit of the hype, but I'm excited to finally play Halo multi-player again. It's been a long time. I wrote ofMCC and haven't turned that game on for well over 7 months, so I can't wait to get into Warzone/Arena for Halo 5.

I'm trying to stay dark on spoilers and story so I haven't really watched much, just a few snippets of gameplay and I think it looks so good. Butter smooth 60fps, etc.

Just 9 days out now. Can't wait.
 
I get like this for every fucking halo game. It happened for reach, ODST, 4, and 3, I convince myself I don't need it at first but i know I'm gonna go out and buy an XB1 to play the new Halo and I'm gonna do it to play Halo 5.
 
Beta turned me off and the game still wasn't on the radar after E3, but the slow trickle of The Sprint and Soundtrack stuff kept me interested and then Forge pushed me over.

I haven't reached the "spoil everything" stage of hype yet, but i'm officially feeling the weight of the wait.
 
I'm also super excited for Halo 5. Haven't really liked Halo since Reach. Played a fair bit of MCC which made me like Halo again. But I really loved the Halo 5 beta so I'm really excited to play it.

I'm really, really hyped for this release. A lot more anticipated than 3 for me.
 
Can't remember ast time I was really hyped for a game. 35 now and though I love playing games I never reach that level of excitement anymore.

Thought fallout 4 might do it but even that I'm lukewarm about.

I'm in exactly the same position as you, (1 kid), but bugger me with a broomstick if I'm not hopping up and down with excitement. Most hyped I've been for any game this gen (bloodborne and MGS5 kind of petered out a couple of weeks before, sunset overdrive became better after release).

I'm avoiding spoilers and haunting the h5 topics, haven't been this excited about a game in years.
 
I am a major halo fan, played CE competitively, bought 4 copies of halo 2 on launch for LANs, been super hyped for all of them in the past. However, after Halo 4 and MCC I am just not finding myself hyped for 5 at all. Hopefully it is a good turn around.

MCC wound still hasn't healed. I do not want to have to struggle for an hour hard resetting my Xbox to play with my friends again. Really hope that doesn't happen with H5
 
I'm not even a fan of the series, and I'm hyped. Perhaps my Xbox One will do more than gather dust.

I'm excited to see why Halo kills all of the witty space children he keeps throwing grenades at in gameplay demos.

Ditto, but with 0 kids...! Haven't been this hyped for a game since, oh well Witcher 3 which wasn't that long ago :-)
 
You know, I was actually thinking about creating a thread myself with the question "should I buy digital or the LCE?"

yes I am hyped too! some of the new spoiler infos I don't like but I can't shake the feeling that it has been way to long since halo reach (sorry, I don't really count halo 4 as a real new halo, it just does not feel like one for me).
so the hype is real, I hope to find some new friends from HaloGafEU

I'm currently trying to make my way through Spartan Ops for the first time and it's turning out to have the absolute worst shooter encounter design I have ever seen. Someone thought that this trash is good enough to put in a "Halo" game.

Halo 5 is made by the same studio. I think I'll manage to avoid dying from hype overdose just fine.

The Promethens are terrible enemies to fight all around.

Are you on the first or second half? The second half of switch ops is much better IMO, but the first half was definitely weaksauce from a gameplay perspective. Wasn't anywhere as good as Firefight, but I'm still disappointed there is no PvE content like either of them in H5.
 
The hype is deserved.

I'm 31, got a wife and and an 18 month old. I've still got the week booked off for launch and 3 buddies coming to mine for a 4 day LAN. Thanks to modern technology, we're going to stream the whole weekends shenanigans on youtube/twitch.

It only happens every 3 years when it comes to Halo, and 343 have really delivered with the hype fuel.
 
I don't know, I really like the multiplayer when I played the beta and it's the reason I bought the game but I'm cautious about the Single player, Halo 4 was such a bad game that it still hurt today.

I'm happy for you that you're getting hype for a videogame again, I'm glad I'm not in your position though, so much games Hyped me as Hell like Destiny, MGSV, Dragon Age inq, ME4, Witcher 3, Fallout 4 etc...

Hope you won't be disappointed by the game OP.

The design for Spartan Ops sucks. Plain and simple.

The campaigns, multiplayer, and forge is where it's at.

Glad they got rid of Spartan Ops for Halo 5 and focused more of their development time to more important things such as making the campaign larger and far more ambitious along with adding awesome new modes like Warzone.

They are, and yet they're somehow more fun to fight than Halo 4's Covenant. How crazy is THAT?

Still on the first half. I did play one mission of the second half when a level FULL of Watchers almost gave me a panic attack from how poorly thought-out it was.
 
I'm hyped, my wife is excited to play co-op with me too which meant it was a no questions asked pre-order lmao

I crept into the spoiler thread but chickened out >_<

It is killing me to have it already preloaded and not be able to play it, I swear preloads are a curse because that icon just taunts the shit out me everytime I turn on my xbox now lol
 
Massive series long fan who took a hiatus for the halo 4 release.

Pretty damn hyped right now, playing game alike hearthstone to pass the time .

do you have two xbox ones? because there is no co-op on one console IIRC.

Halo 4's Covenat move very rigidly and their AI isn't very... well, intelligent. Weren't fun at all.

I hear the AI has been improved in H5 but i dunno. Not optimistic about that after H4.

I hated Halo 4, but I'm slowly starting to get this huge urge to buy an Xbone and Halo 5 when it comes out. If I had a bit more money, I'd buy the console in a heartbeat.

It's really the most I've been excited for a game in a while. 343 seems to have finally gotten it right, but also gone above and beyond rather than simply making a competent Halo sequel.

But not only does it seem like a well made game out of the box, it looks to be built to be played for years in a better way than past games. It has a high initial map count with all DLC being free. It has multiple features hitting after launch. The new ranking system seems well thought out and many other changes were made to make the overall matchmaking experience cleaner and more competitive. The req system has the potential to be pretty addicting.
 
I am hyped for the arena multiplayer, because it looks much more competition friendly than Destiny's Crucible.

And I still haven't finished Halo 2, Halo 3, ODST or even started Halo 4, so I need to work on MCC before this comes out.
 
Last time I was this hyped was for Witcher 3. I'm new at Halo, I discovered the games with MCC and I liked it a lot. Played all the campaign three time, one solo and twice with a two friends (1 at a time they got their Xbox One recently).

Totally fell in love with the settings/universe and I fully embraced the extended universe. Hunt the truth, Nightfall, Forward Unto Dawn etc. Also started reading the novels on my Kindle, Fall of Reach was amazing. Before knowing the universe as an outsider I never thought there would be so much material.

I never played online, I tend to be pretty horrible at shooters but skill matchmaking and warzone and the arena ranking will make me give it a good shot and hopefully not get discouraged and keep playing the multiplayer until I'm not completely horrible anymore.

My wife is hilarious she always ends up with 2 of everything. When she buys me a game for a birthday or xmas there will always be a second copy in the box lmfao, fucking cracks me up so much. So ya we are all set =)

This basically sums up my situation as well but.....we have 4 kids.

Unfortunately TMCC was my first ever delving into the Halo franchise ans we all know how that went and I got rid of it a month late, that left a real bitter taste in my mouth. That was until the beta which sucked me right in despite my weariness of 343.

Anyway, with all the footage and info combined with my beta experience I am pumped for this. I just hope the Aussie servers are up to the challenge!!
