Detroit: Become Human (Quantic Dream) Announced for PS4

Yup. You never said these games weren't fun to enjoy lol. I feel people buy and watch these games generally just to have fun with and make fun of them.

Thanks to a certain LP group, Beyond Two Souls is basically Jodie with a JoJo like Stand.

I wouldn't enjoy the game if I had to sit and play it straight.

Why do people imagine robots in the future as always being humanoid? It seems like just setting yourself up for trouble that can be avoided by having a robot that looks like a cute animal or strange object.

I just hope you don't play as Kara but as a person who interacts with her. You can't judge someones humanity by being them.

That's true but nah, I hope we play as her.
Since we actually already know she's indeed gained some measure of humanity as of the tech demo, which is seemingly being incorporated as part of her back story, it's possible that we won't necessarily be judging her humanity but instead what she chooses to do with it, so that can be up to us if we're playing as her.

Both could be good ofcourse.

There's quite a bit more than a handful of non-white characters. Plus it's a futuristic Detroit that clearly has been built up from where it is today. It appears to be a bustling metropolis ala NYC so the demographics reflect that.
Whites are increasingly becoming the minority in this country so why is it assumed that in the future whites would be the majority in a city like Detroit?

I did like Fahrenheit, and Heavy Rain but i wish Cage tried to make something different. Or maybe something like..Omikron?

Funny how people comment on the population of Detroid when we dont even know in which year it is taking place and what happened to get there.

Best surprise of the conference, I'm very happy to see that Kara is now more than a tech demo and wow, what a comeback with this trailer. The theme is, again, very interesting but definitely not easy to develop.. I hope QD can deliver some quality writing here (reads as: hopefully Cage is supported by other writers and he will not touch paranormal stuff in the slightest).

Alright! This is super excited as that KARA tech demo was an awesome concept and was really hoping it would always be more than a concept!

When it shows actual in game environments they don't look a world away from Beyond, which was already a very good looking game.

Certainly doesn't look quite as jaw dropping as their wizard tech demo but then it was never going to.
Well, this has about 20 times as populated areas as Beyond. Rendering that many characters in an outside area will do that. Sorcerer and Beyond looked amazing indoors, outdoors it was mostly passable in Beyonds case and awful in others. This is a huge step forward in that regard and we havent seen any indoor areas up close yet

Yeah he will be supported by other writers.

Yeah, I'm not seeing how they would justify building completely human-looking androids for the purpose of menial labor. It's just looks creepy.

Sweeping strings combined with excessive emphasis on textbook descriptive terms for feelings and emotions ranging from extreme positives to extreme negatives to accentuate the protagonist's state of mind and commentary on the state of the setting.

Android-existentialist-crisis is one of the oldest, well trodden tropes of science fiction and this trailer presented an extremely familiar concept with nothing that stood out as an original or intriguing angle or take to differentiate it from the norm, given what other work has already done and better for the last few decades, in addition to about as much grace and subtle use of the English language to present said concepts as a hammer to the face.

I have a stick up my arse about Quantic Dream/David Cage because I firmly believe his dialogue is consistently terrible and his stories consistently awful. It's like watching/playing a narrative written by a person who doesn't understand how people naturally communicate, nor the deeper nuances of themes and how to explore them, in an experience that has no self awareness of what it's achieving and failing or how it presents itself.

And while brief and obviously light on content, the debut trailer for Detroit: Become Human (sic) simply drilled in that cringe worthy script writing him and his team are known for. Beyond the technical accomplishments of QD titles, I feel they're all mostly turds both as narratives and choice driven narrative video games, where glimmers of original ideas and cool concepts are crushed under laughably unnatural characters and script.

Until Dawn was kitchy and stupid but so self aware and fun in its writing that it just enforced my belief other developers are doing the Quantic Dream/David Cage thing far better than them/him despite the latter receiving more attention.

Everything has been done before, artists are all theives. What matters is execution. What was the last truly original story you've experienced, btw?

And yeah, you really do have a stick up your arse wrt this guy. lol.

Nice, glad they finally announced something, and definitely glad the Kara demo wasn't just a demo. It always seemed to have a ton of potential from a storytelling standpoint, but perhaps it's a bit late since Ex Machina came around. All their games are so god damned quirky I can't help but play them, Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls were a couple of my favorite games for PS3 because they were just different in a generation dominated by brofest shooters. Would love if they took some cues from Dontnod and made an adventure game sans all the bullshit QTEs. It seems like it would be a great premise to just explore the city and take things in, but that's probably not going to happen in a AAA game.

Trailer was great, though. A great premise, but I'm sure it's going to get extremely absurd by the time it's all over since she's a robot. She'll probably know Kung Fu and be able to leap over buildings and some other crazy shit like mind controlling robots, just wouldn't be a Quantic Dream game otherwise.

Yeah, It is clear this is the upgraded Beyond engine, but it is also clear it looks much better overall than Beyond. QD do real time cutscenes, so this is probably what it look like. It looks better than the Order and the world seems much bigger and more populated.

I am so very excited by Quantic Dream's new title, that is Detroit! As an Interactive Storytelling/ Drama/Movie-with-gameplay lover, that would be another engrossing experience to enjoy on my future PS4. ;)

Pretty excited to play this whenever it comes out, as I actually loved Beyond far more than Heavy Rain. I don't know if they could've chosen a worse title though....

It seems people are forgetting how Beyond looked outside during daylight in a bit more open areas. It was mostly like this:

Beyond was an amazing looking game overall, but it was the scenes at night and inside that looked impressive. Same with the Dark Sorcerer. This trailer almost exclusively showed footage of when QD games are at their worst graphically. If this is the worst it gets, I'm certainly impressed by it.

Huge step up from their PS3 stuff imo. Especially since this has crowds too.

Woah awesome, will be really curious to see how they capture Detroit. Actually this should be awesome hopefully they will have some events near by.

Oh boy, can't wait to see what memes and random dumb plot twists come from this David Cage interactive experience.

Please no creepy romance. You're 0-3 Davey, just don't try anymore.

It looks awful pretty, but I won't be boarding the Cage Train this time around either.

I do hope it comes out alright. I mean, hell, even M. Night Shyamalan had a decent movie this year.

Become Human is an infinitely better title than Detroit: Become Human.

It is honestly baffling.

Agree. I'd even contemplate doing the old switcheroo and making it Become Human: Detroit. The possibilities for a sequel would be endless. Then again maybe not. Become Human: Basingstoke may not be that great.

That's true but nah, I hope we play as her.

Ok but then why not have her already living as an assumed human having to show another newly "awakened" driod how to pass. I just want something to give the player agency.
