okay guys i havent finish the game yet.
but as a huge metal gear fan i wanted to talk about a little bit of the game with you without spoiling.
ive playing for few hours and i dont like what ive being playing in fact i dont want to go back.
i think metal gear solid 5 is one of most boring open world games i ever played.
why that game went full open world? mgs4 and 3 have better level design than that.
the opening that a lot of people were praising its just boring. and to make it worst kiefer sucks at voice acting.
now the gameplay is a huge step up from the previous entries but pick up missions is just boring.
im glad that mgs brand is dead now, and will still love the old games
but notlikethis.gif
Played and loved Peace Walker.
Sandbox is not the right word for MGSV. The sandbox aspect sucks. The open world just serves as a way for you to get from A to B. Toybox is a better word. MGSV is a really good toybox.
Best opening 20 min I have ver played in a game, the rest was a boring mess with 0 story I mean 0.
Damn that sounds fun.
The gameplay design isn't as good as MGS2 vr missions which still remain the gameplay peak of the series. This became apparent when doing the side ops which all largely play out the same and don't require much skill or thinking. It rarely ever felt like a real challenge on my part.
But MGSV's freedom is unquestionable and unrivaled, not just by other titles in the series, but by stealth games in general. The Code Talker mansion, for instance, was every bit as tight as the bank in Chaos Theory but with more tools at the player's disposal. Controls and movement are really well done and intuitive unlike MGS2 where you have to learn the game. Night/day cycle, weather, and random guard patrols (I know they're not random but you have to really give a shit if you want to actually pay attention to their schedule) serve as factors help mix levels up even further.

mgs v was the biggest disappointed of this year for megameplaywise it was so awesome. but i am a metal gear fan for its story , this is where the game failed for me and it hurts even more knowing its the last MGS from kojima

Its practically the same game..
I don't like it, and I was disappointed in a way I can not describe.![]()
This game broke my heart.
Best opening 20 min I have ver played in a game, the rest was a boring mess with 0 story I mean 0. In the end the payoff/ending might be the worst I have ever seen. I get angry thinking about it. This game really sucked. At the end of evey other MG game I was like Wow that was so much fun, and so good.
At the end of this I was like what? Why, What a waste of time this was.
HUGE metal gear fan? Maybe give it more than, "a few hours?"
The game is great, but it's definitely not my favorite MGS game. It's not "bad" though.
There's also so many conflicting statements in there...the opening is SO Metal Gear, yet you found it boring? Then the open world is bad? Yet the most Metal Gear part of the game is bad too?
What do you want?
Its practically the same game..
plus I never thought I'd say this but Peace Walker had better boss fights (and PW's boss fights were fucking terrible). Plus it never had any of that FOB protection racket shite.
lol we never know what we want when it comes to metal gear
did you want raiden?
what im saying is every metal gear u didnt need to play more than five hours for you to fall in love.
do you remember mgs2 opening
the halo jump in 3
the war has changed speech in 4
i mean its just my opinion
I agree with this.Theres a good game somewhere hidden in it, but it's surrounded by poor or questionable design choices. The story is poor with the most characters being two dimensional.
Disappointing is the best description for it.
I was glad when it was over tbh. Great core gameplay, but far too repetitive and tedious.
I think sandbox implies a...well a sandbox where someone can play with the tools (toys) at their disposal. I think it's an apt description.
MGSV is the first in the series where I actually looked forward to a cutscene because they weren't suffocating me with them, the perfect gameplay to cutscene ratio for me.
I agree with this.
Still the best MGS game released in a decade and a tremendous turnaround for the series after the complete turd that was 4.
Yup same here, haven't touched it since finishing it.I agree.
Even as a HUGE Metal Gear fan, I don't see myself playing MGSV again.
Yup same here, haven't touched it since finishing it.
Unheard of from me as a die hard.
Hah, incredibly accurate.
Love the game, my favorite so far this year and I've played every MGS besides Acid and PO. Less dumbshit cutscenes and more gameplay, just how I like it.
I loved the game so much that I sunk 191 hours into it 100% and platinuming it. The story wasn't up to par with the more classic MGS formula, but the gameplay makes up for it, BIG time.
The FOB bullshit and the stupid online/offline design choices they implemented recently were incredibly stupid, but the game is still easily one of my favorite games this year. MGS1 still takes the cake as best MG for me, but damn this one definitely comes close overall.
I dont plan on replaying the game anytime soon but not every game is meant to be replayed, especially after spending close to 200 hours on it. In fact, a lot of those hours WAS replaying the game trying to earn S ranks, completing objectives, etc.
I think the game would have benefited from having around twenty Ground Zeroes-style-and-size levels instead of two giant empty levels. The Ground Zeroes base had more personality than anything in The Phantom Pain.
Yep, the fans hate it. But for me it's on top of my GOAT list.
Technically Metal Gear Solid is a bad Metal Gear game.
