Okay pls help (hope this doesn't get buried)

Got this for my bf last night cuz Fallout is really the only big game franchise he's into. He was really excited to play it. Oh and I got it got his XB1.

But

We got to the initial stat distribution screen and the game kicked us to the title menu and said we'd have to sign into a profile again. So we did and then we couldn't get past the loading screen. I figured I'd restart the console, but still the same problem.

Anyone else having this issue? We have the day one patch installed and XB1 is running on most recent firmware.

I really wanna fix this so he can play.

2 questions as I plan my character build:

1. How important is charisma, especially early on?

2. Anyone know the effect of higher intelligence has on xp gain?

Anyone picked up the physical guide yet? I'm about to pull the trigger on a Best Buy order, but still not sure it's worth it. I'm usually a sucker for physical guides when it comes to big RPGs.

Mine's being delivered today. But jfyi Amazon has the collector's guide for $24. Almost half off compared to other places.

Mine is on it's way. I am psyched. First Guide i brought since Final Fantasy X-2

Can someone please tell me how to heal your companion with a stimpak? Dogmeat got owned by a deathclaw, and I spent 20 minutes trying to figure out how to heal him, in the process wasting several stimpaks on myself, until finilly I accidentally meleed him and that healed him. Wtf

I can answer 1. I already ran into some speech checks and passed them with 8cha.

I got some new info I otherwise wouldn't have received were I not charismatic enough. I was about an 1hr and a half in FYI. There are times where you could pay caps in exchange for being lame and not charismatic like me. But, you want to be cool don't you? Be charismatic.

I had gotten through all of these weeks spoiler free. I post one damn gif and get the ending spoiled for me. You gotta be fucking shitting me!

BURN IN HELL!

Soooo after shitting on the game yesterday (well Betheseda fanboys more so) I've bit the bullet and bought the game on PS4.

Currently installing it. Nice little video while the game installs (which is slow AF)

What the fuck, he wasn't in the wrong lmao. He should have marked the spoiler, absolutely, but YOU clicked it. Take some fucking responsibility.

People frequently misuse spoiler tags to hide non-spoiler parts of their message with limited context to indicate what's hidden. So you really have to guess whether they've hidden the punch line of a joke or a legitimate spoiler. Perhaps the site should have a punchline tag as well and consider bans for consistent misuse of the actual spoiler tag.

I really really really feel bad for writing it at all, even if I did put it behind a spoiler tag. I'm really sorry to anyone who read it, and I really hope the person who said the spoiler didn't do so in response to what I said.

NO ONE READ THE LAST PAGE. THERE IS A HUGE UNMARKED SPOILER ON IT. It will probably be removed soon though.

This part is absolutely just... A new level for Bethesda. You encounter this area fairly early on in the game as well
On the way to Concord to meet the Minutemen for the first time/ scripted Deathclaw fight
. Like... God what the fuck man. Did they just forget to develop that part? Oh, one other thing about that area, my framerate absolutely SHITS itself at that area. It'll run 60FPS or around 60FPS on high (AA turned off), but as soon as I get to that area it turns into a slideshow. If I look away the framerate goes back to 60FPS. Bethesda pls

I've been on pretty much a complete media blackout for this, just got home with our copy. There's no level cap I believe correct? So while obviously your starting stats are important, can you still eventually max everything out now? I haven't played Fallout 3/NV since their launches pretty much, IIRC you could get bobblehads to raise stats permanently, but I'm not sure if that's still in or what.

Question about settlements:
Will you gain access to a more traditional safehouse or is building one yourself the only option? If you build one yourself, will you immediately open yourself up to having it be attacked by raiders? I really don't want to micromanage a settlement just to have a place to store items and equipment.
