I can't wait. I don't think I know one person that hasn't already purchased their tickets for it.
We have to dethrone Cameron's two shitty movies Titanic and Avatar as the highest grossing movies ever. Plz Star Wars, do it for me.
I think there's really only two things that can potentially hold TFA back.
1. Bad weather.
2. Bad reviews.
Assuming the weather is fine, and the movie reviews well, the sky is the limit.
The movie isn't even finished yet, it's over a month from release.Any reviews yet?
I'm sorry, wouldn't people be MORE inclined to see a movie if the weather is bad?
Calling it now, if it breaks the OW record in DECEMBER of all months, its going to break the All time Box office Record. Also who is NOT seeing this opening weekend or not seeing at all. I mean come on. Who would even say I am skipping this, that would be absurd.
I'm sorry, wouldn't people be MORE inclined to see a movie if the weather is bad?
Out of curiosity, why?I am skipping this. Although I'm really curious to see what kind of business it does when it finally comes out.

Best movie ever makes most money ever.
Seems reasonable to me.
I'm sorry, wouldn't people be MORE inclined to see a movie if the weather is bad?
lol of course it will break all movie records, people are thirsty for SW
Let's not get ahead of ourselves now.
If there's a major snowstorm, it might be unsafe to drive.I'm sorry, wouldn't people be MORE inclined to see a movie if the weather is bad?
I don't really think that's comparable to the current situation. We have the original cast returning. Plus, the prequel trilogy bombed critically. They were thirsty for Star Wars in 1999 as well.
stupid question: why would disney let anyone see this film early or allow reviews to go out before the film is released?
I feel like the last thing they want is a headline like "THE PHANTOM MENACE ALL OVER AGAIN: NEW STAR WARS DISAPPOINTS. 6/10" a few days before the film is released. I think we just saw it with Spectre. bad reviews certainly hurt that film.
unlike most movies, there are expectations going into a new star wars that literally no other movie franchise has to endure. even if the movie is really damn good, if it's anything less than THE GREATEST THING EVER I can see reviews being negative.
at the same time, the movie might be the shits but the reviewers are so blinded by the hype that the scores are incredibly high. who knows.

Saying Titanic is shitty and then wishing a Abrams product dethrones it. Erm.
People think that now but that wasn't the case at the time. Episode III's RT score in 2005 was mid-80%.I don't really think that's comparable to the current situation. We have the original cast returning. Plus, the prequel trilogy bombed critically.
Granted, but I still think the original cast returning is a major leg up in comparison to the prequel trilogy. Plus, nostalgia is a major factor nowadays. Jurassic World did complete gangbusters off of nothing but nostalgia.People think that now but that wasn't the case at the time. Episode III's RT score in 2005 was mid-80%.
$850 million by the end of the third weekend. Am I reading this correctly?
I feel like this was relative to the previous prequels that critics/fanboys (who wanted to like them) were like "oh thank God a GOOD one" but enough people were turned off by the first two they didn't even bother.People think that now but that wasn't the case at the time. I didn't say that TFA would dethrone Avatar, and I didn't say that JW was a bad movie.Oh come on. The ideal that the the old actors coming back is going to be enough to have this movie do 2.7X more worldwide compared to TPM and dethrone avatar like people in thread are posting is ridiculous. People enjoyed Jurassic World, just because you think it was "nothing of nostalgia" doesn't mean that the general movie going public felt that way.
Didn't everything crash/sell out with the WiiU launch?they started selling tickets two months in advance
every ticket selling website crashed due to traffic. TWO MONTHS IN ADVANCE
I mean... I guess it's possible that it won't break the OW record, but I'd be shocked.
I see it as this:
250 Million OW (250 Total) (Crosses Transformers Domestic Box office)
180 Million Monday-Thursday (Christmas week) (450) (Crosses Avengers Ultron Box office)
180 Million 2nd weekend (Christmas weekend) (610)
130 Million Monday-Thursday (new Years week) (740) (Crosses Titanic Box office)
110 Million 3rd weekend (New years weekend) (850) (Crosses Avatar Box Office)
Won't happen.
1) Nobody watches movies in December. The transition of leaving your warm home and going into the cold outside world, opening your car and driving to the theater and then watch a long movie and then do the whole process again in reverse is just too much. Very bad calculation by Disney.
2) This is Star Wars, an old 80s sci-fi franchise nobody really cares for other than old men with internet access. This isn't Avengers 2, a movie that is perfect for the current Zeitgeist and not your dad's old fave movie. I see all this talk about "this is going to be an event", no, it's not, this won't be talked about anymore two weeks later, trust me. They should just rename the franchise to Star Was.
3) AFAIK the bank systems of America would shutdown if many people would decide to cash out enough money for a sum of $225 million dollars in a short time span - like, this is technically just not possible. People know you don't ruin America for a single movie which is why most people will catch this on Hulu in 1 year.
Big bogus article, yuck.
