I'm a little confused with how crafting works with regards to scrapping items as needed. I noticed that anything in the 'junk' category seems to show the ingredients they can break down into when crafting but for other stuff like apparel and weapons, you don't see this - yet those can also be scrapped.

For example, I have 6 Leather Chest pieces in my workbench inventory. Each of these can broken down into leather which is used to upgrade apparel. Do I really have to pull each of these Leather Chest pieces out of the inventory, drop them on the ground, and manually scrap them to get this to work? It seems I do yet stuff like coffee cups will break down as needed for ingredients automatically when creating something new.

I hope I'm missing something here because I assumed the point of storing weapons/apparel in the workbench was to use them as needed for scrapping. Is this not the case?

I think you need a perk to see weapons and armor components.

I think it only automatically scraps stuff in the "Junk" category. You can put armor in the workbenches, but it doesn't seem to get scrapped as needed. I had to manually scrap the armor by dropping it, going in to build mode and scrapping from there. If you do this, make sure you remove any mods first or they are lost.
Okay well if that's the way it is, I'll just wait to get the perk in Intelligence for more scraps and start breaking down all this excess stuff that's in my stash. I guess if you do it in stages it's not a big deal.

Just ran into a bug on the quest 'Unlikely Valentine'. Quest Spoilers
I got to the vault entrance and my character plugs in the pip boy to open the vault, but it doesn't open. I've left the area and came back, reset the game, but nothing works. VATS doesn't even work now, for some reason. I tried no clipping my way through the vault entrance, but VATS still doesn't work and I can't open it through the other side.
My last save is hours ago and I'd rather just wait for a solution instead of playing through all that again. What a bummer.

What's a nice outfit to wear underneath Metal armor pieces? Everything I have currently looks odd with these big, Gears of War-esque chunks of plate slapped over them.

I think I'm going to invest in Demolition Expert a good amount, because I don't have a single point into it yet but Molotovs (and grenades too for that matter) already clear out entire rooms on their own.

I know, but game is just released and I don't want to know that there is money exploit and shit like that.. And people posting the fucking video of it on every page of this thread.
But as I said, that's just me, I think it's stupid.
I think you worrying about what other people do with the game they buy is stupid, someone asked so it was posted why be so aggravated about something that impacts your playthrough a grand percentage of nill?

The game has got some interesting AI conversations haha.

Got to listen to a very interesting argument about how its a good idea to put stuff to eat between two pieces of bread. i was cracking up.

Thanks. Guess I'm a TATO farmer now.

I've had two legendary super mutant's corpses turn into normal super mutants after I killed them, and their corpses had no legendary gear. What is up with that?

So for settlements does is make sense to build a fence around the whole thing or is that just a waste? Will enemies spawn inside your perimeter fence regardless? Is it just cosmetic or does a perimeter fence really force enemies to your choke points?

Only place I built a wall around so far is Sanctuary.

It's so amazing and bad at the same time. I'm having so much fun but sometimes things don't feel right. I wish you could immediately equip items that are better than the ones you have. I hate digging through my inventory.

Either the game is incredibly hard or I am awful at it. First quest after Sanctuary is insanely hard for me half the time I have no idea who is shooting me and by the time I figure it out I've taken 2 or 3 moltolv cocktails to the head.

If you're talking about the
Corvega assembly plant then you want to gather up as many frag grenades and molotov cocktails as is reasonable and apply them liberally to your enemies. And there are a lot of enemies there, inside and out, and a number of turrets. Work on your throwing arm! There is also a somewhat hidden path to get inside the plant through the large pipes. This may help you avoid some enemies. Also the enemies can shoot through the grate catwalks that are everywhere.

This!

Its hard to sort them out as they are. I wish it would be easier to notice which are the best parts to equip. Diablo 3 on console did it really good. Or Destiny.

I can't say that I've seen that but I was up high on some broken down highway and off in the distance I saw some massive explosion. I wasn't close to a place to drop down and explore but I have to admit this was pretty awesome to see.

I had one sink halfway into the pavement and I was like "yo that seems unsafe" sure enough, it randomly exploded about 10 seconds later.

Its awesome. Having a great time with it. Have not had any serious issues with bugs, or game stoppers. So so far so good. Been playing for about 8 hrs.

About the castle.

How do I power the
radio tower?

I figured I had to get Science! Perk to build a level 3 generator to produce 10 power.. Which will be a pain in the ass.

Here someone suggested I build two level 2 generators that individually produce 5 power.. I tried that. Didn't seem to work.

Someone said the generator is already there? Where!

Yeah, inventory in Fallout is quite a mess. I just stock what seems to be good near the settlement and when I'm patiance I get them and take a look wich I'll wear.

I went in with a handgun and came out a God.

I had to approach this are pretty carefully as well because I was getting blasted up fast. I approached the main entrance in (Hidden) stance and ran behind a little shelter right across the downstairs entrance across from the turret. I slowly peaked out and picked off the turret and wanders up above, one at a time. For whatever reason, doing this didn't cause 'Danger' to show up and alert everyone else. I cleared out this initial group of 5 or 6 guys and then proceeded inside. Was definitely hard at first but fun to eventually get through it.

This game is great. So good to be back in the Fallout universe.

The synth storyline is fun.

PC version using a GTX 570 and i5 2500, and performance is better than I expected. The game is a blast! Gunplay and animations are much improved compared to Fallout 3 and NV, settlements are addicting, and the game is fun as it always was!

XB1 version may arrive till friday though! =)

Love that when it's Halloween in game
Diamond City has a bunch of Halloween decorations up. Very neat touch. Hope they do the same for when it's Christmas.

Also [Confidence Man quest spoilers]
I miss the old awkward Travis on the radio. Him being all confident isn't as funny. Kinda regret doing that quest so soon.

I built 2 small generators (worth 3 power each) and another generator (worth 10 power). Then hooked it all up, I didn't have any science perks.

Level 17 with some really great gear and about 40% of the map explored and I still haven't even done the first main quest story. Game is amazing so far. Having trouble finding more Power Armor parts though. Got 3 other frames with nothing on them.

Also found this sexy rifle today!

Yes, it's great. And FYI, I've not come across anything I'd consider bad in regards to frame rate or bugs, surprisingly.
Witcher 3 performed so much worse than this.

is there anyway to mark a raider power armor frame as mine? i got it before the raider could get in but if i put things in it and take it back it counts as stolen, it wouldn't bother me if the minuteman wouldn't be such a whiny bitch about "stealing" from fucking raiders.

How can one steal from a raider? o_O and why would a minutemen make a big deal about looting the enemy? haha

Any good settlement building tutorials? I am having huge difficulty at building a house from scratch as most walls don't connect correctly. What sucks is that you don't get all the materials back if you scrap something you built so you end up running out of them pretty fast with all the trial and error involved

The more I'm playing this game, the more I hope we get another Obsidian-developed spinoff on the west coast. This gameplay is so good, I'm gonna need more than one game with this stuff. And Obsidian writing? Yes plz.

I played for about 7 hours yesterday(PS4) and I am itching in my seat at work to jump back in. I barely even scratched the surface.

I hadn't seen any bugs or glitches at all really other than standard fallout jank. though I expect to see some stuff at some point. Framerate is fine about 90-95% of the time when out in the world. There are some hitches every once and awhile, but it hasn't impacted my enjoyment of the game so far. People made it seem like the world was ending in the graphics threads the other day.
