Resource and some missions, yeah
You have to do other things to get people. Create a generator and a recruitment radio signal
Nope, no other tutorials
Nah, it doesn't affect the story AFAIK

Tnx.
What about bases with no residents. For example Gas station with drivein cinema. How to get people in there?
And should i build every base i discover?

The game instructed you to build a beacon when you first cleared out the Drive-In.

When or where do I get better armor? Been playing for around 11 hours and the best things I get are the Leather and Raider pieces and I'm still rocking the vault suit.

This game is such fun. 40 hours here. Normal is hard mode for me atm. Endurance and Strength are still at 1, because I thought Charisma would allow me multiple followers like it did in New Vegas, and I didn't want to miss out on early Persuasion. Persuasion still seems to be based on a percentile rather than a hard unlock, which I didn't know until I failed a yellow one randomly. Anyway, my stats make it kind of rough because leveling up means I should probably take a more worthwhile perk than leveling a SPECIAL stat; but, it also makes the power armor more worthwhile and encounters a little more exciting.

Man, this fog reminds me of Morrowind.

Saw my first legendary in hours (a mutated legendary ghoul reaver) and got a broken piece of wood that does 50% extra damage to humans.

While I of course love my piece of wood, is there any way to make sure you get... Um... More useful items?

I miss the old food/water/sleep mods, they made everything much more immersive to me.

I killed a Legendary Alpha Deathclaw and got a pair of Knuckles. The loot and even spawn are random though, you can save at some point and try to save scum your way through if you really want.

Anyone actually likes encumbrance mechanics? There's so much shit to get in this game and Max WT is way too low. I'm tempted to just raise the max to 1000 via console.

Tried reloading the save immediately before I started combat with the ghoul but it gave me the same thing. Never mind though, at least with a random system there's a chance of getting something amazing every time.

Anyone know the console command to add stimpacks? Don't want to use god mode,as I believe that's cheating ;)

Do 'help stimpak 0' in the console, and find its ID.
Then, 'player.additem <id> <quantity>'

My favorite moments so far were random things that happened, like when I went to explore a random nursing home and got ambushed by
Synths
. It was dark and I went full Solid Snake on them, taking one at a time.

Thanks so much! I couldn't find it online.

No problem, you're welcome. If you need anything else look for alexbull's post in the last page about the "help" command.

I just realized I kept looking for console commands and not the item numbers. Time to play with some new guns!

Ran into a legendary death claw in the glowing sea and was like fuck man, ima get smoked. But out of curiosity i challenged it with my trusty Spray n Pray and I made that death claw my fucking bitch. Spray n pray is too fucking sexy

Nah, it's completely random. I see Legendary enemies all the time, and last night after about many many hours of playing, I finally got a shotgun.

Has anyone set up any shops in their settlement? I've read several posts now where people claim they don't bring in any money. Caps are really tight this time around (haven't been to Diamond City yet lol) which is something I like, but I'd also like to make sure I don't go completely broke by having no return on my investments.

I've set up a couple. They don't bring in any caps as far as I can tell. But there's different tiers to them, and I don't have the perk to unlock the highest so maybe they do. I'd hope so at least, they're really expensive to set up.

Sorry to intrude your fallout 4 thread but,

Im going to be playing fall out for the first time tonight, knowing only the setting and idea of collecting loot.

Im playing 3 on ONE through BC. Am i ok to do this and just find the GOTY content after if i desire, or is it better to be added in to your initial play through? I gotto borrow 3 and goty could only be found for 25 bucks so far.

Any tips for a first timer.

Fallout 3 DLC is a really mixed bag. The ending to the vanilla game is terrible, and one of the DLCs somewhat fixes that and increases the level cap and adds several new perks. You can play all but one of the DLCs before you complete the main story so I'd say try out the version you have and if you like it get the GOTY.

I love the settlement idea so much. But they could have done so much more with it. You see the settlers always fixing the old houses in Sanctuary wouldn't it have been nice that the more your settlement grows the more it gets fixed up, houses start looking more complete weeds are almost all gone etc.

The jank in this game is really starting to get to me. I don't know if I was more forgiving of this stuff when I played Oblivion and Fallout 3 back when those came out, but I can't help but agree with what Jeff Gerstmann said on the bombcast recently. On console this game feels broken to the point where I'm afraid to do anything. I'm afraid when the framerate gets so bad that it's just gonna cause something in the game to break....I hate going through a quest, and fearing if I don't save all the fucking time, that I'll lose a ton of progress on a quest because the scripting fucking sucks.

In a world where we got other, less buggy and quite impressive open world games that have come out in the past year...this shit is just killing the experience for me.

Ok exactly what i needed to know, thanks.

Despite the performance issues, low textures and rehashed textures I am enjoying this game immensely and there is nothing quite like Bethesda's open world gameplay.

It actually feels like I am traversing a world where people lived their lives and that is not something every company succeeds in.

I was going to hold off building a camp until my character was stronger, then I stumbled upon Taffington Boathouse--a cool little single home property with the water at its back, seems perfect for those who want a light building experience to start.

Jesus... again, this game you guys. 22 hours and barely left the corner where I started. Diamond City isn't even in sight right now.

Debating whether to cancel Battlefront pre order. This game is eating up all my time. Even when I'm not playing it, I think about it.

Bethesda amazing job!

where's the best place to find food to plant for Sanctuary? i've been to diamond city and got some carrot/tato but i really don't want to go all the way back. i'm only at 60% complete. is there any to be found near the settlement?

Are you roleplaying as someone that can't fast travel?

Base building sucks. Horrible controls, pieces don't like to stick together, pieces that do stick together overlap and I can't get another piece next to it to close the hole. Guess I'm just not meant to build a house.

Crafting question: I am doing a Minutemen quest (O
ld
G
uns
) currently where I am required to build an item that requires, among other things, oil and spring. When I go to Sanctuary to break down my loot, it shows me that I have enough materials, but when I go to the quest location where I am supposed to build it, it says I don't have enough. Why is this, is it because there are items in Sanctuary that it automatically breaks down for me and adds to my inventory?

Also, the U
SS
C
onstitution
quest is probably my favourite in the game so far, absolutely hilarious. Sure, it has similarities to another quest in the series, but the presentation here is fantastic.
