Can you alter companion AI on consoles? Getting real sick of trying to sneak around and having Dogmeat barge in every door within a 20 yard radius.

I know I could tell him to sit, but having to do that constantly is a pain in the ass.

Also... is there a way to scrap stuff when you find it? Right now I'm just picking up oodles of junk and then dumping it on the floor of red rocket and spending 20 minutes scrapping. I just want the weight back, I know you technically don't have to desynth them to use them for base stuff. They didn't seem to count towards my total while sitting in containers as the actual item, either.

So I did a "find" on "lost patrol" here in the thread, but I didn't find an answer (found the question posted a few times though):

Am I locked out of completing lost patrol now that Danse is available as a companion? Killed a bunch of legendary mutants that all dropped worthless unique shit, burned up a whole fusion core cleaning out that array and used up all my .308 ammo.

Help me GAF

anyone got a good gun that takes .38 rounds and isnt just an upgraded pipe rifle? like some special gun? want to use this ammo with a special gun.

You can mod a combat rifle to take .38, but I haven't found anything aside from that. I'm rolling with a gun of pretty much every ammo type BUT .38 .

The VATS cost and accuracy up is pretty big even compared to that gun.

Oh shit it's better in VATS? I rarely use VATS in this game (except against bugs those fuckers won't stay still) but I guess I should use it more often then.

What sort of weight limits do people have, I'm running around with a 250 limit, and it fills way too fast, especially if junk collecting.

I used a console command to change mine to 500. In every Bethesda game this is the only thing I ever use to 'cheat' on my first playthrough. Fuck encumbrance. I'm now in a weird dilemma where I know by using that cmd command it disincentives to some extent putting level up points into strength. But fuck encumbrance god damn it

companion stuff

- Preston left for the castle whatever mission, now after I'm done with that if I talk to him I can't trade anymore, or ask him to join me. how am I supposed to get my items back

- Cait is lost in the limbo, sent her to red rocket and she vanished. after stealing random shit in Diamond City she wanted to sex me so it's a bit sad.

- Piper's story and reasoning is amazing "hey I'd like to interview you - AND AFTER THAT I want to join you and kill some mutants together because why not it's not like I have a job or a kid to give a fuck about" "s-sure.."

The way you get companions suckssssssssdd new vegas quests leading up to the companions were all great. This game, on you like to fart around let me join your quest to go fart

420.

Just level up the Lone Wanderer perk and have Dogmeat as a companion. Dogmeat doesn't count as a companion when it comes to the Lone Wanderer perk. So basically you can carry an additional 100 after you've leveled up the Lone Wanderer twice AND you can still use Dogmeat to carry stuff as well.

So one of my companions just randomly went hostile in the middle of
the final Minutemen quest
.

He's currently wandering around one of my most developed settlements. If I kill him, he comes back in like ten seconds, and goes right back to shooting at me.

Oddly enough, none of the other settlers will attack him, and he won't attack them. He only seems to want to kill me. And no, I never shot at him.

Any way to fix this?

It's getting really annoying. He just runs into a room and gets shot up like crazy. I really didn't want to dismiss him but I might have to. Didn't think the companion AI was going to be so damn bad.

That's her sister but I guess it's the same point..uhh Piper friend zoned me (for now) but I was able to have a one night stand with
Magnolia from Goodneighbor
.

In the Silver Shroud quest, I dressed up Piper as Grognak and gave her the ax, It was a blast.

20-ish hours in (no spoilers beyond the premise of the game):

I think a lot of the narrative complaints are valid. There are cool character moments via the companions here and there, but the hamfisted forced 'intrigue' of the institute combined with how your character is railroaded into certain motivations makes it hard to feel like I'm really owning him as my PC in any way. He's simultaneously too much of a blank slate to feel interesting while also not really feeling personal enough as 'my' character due to the light but overbearing role of concerned/determined parent that has been pre-determined for me.

I'm enjoying exploring the world, but the narrative bits that don't quite come together in a satisfying way are already making the experience feel a bit hollow. I don't think the 5 minute glimpse of pre-war was a worthy trade-off for such a messy handling of character motivations and sacrifice of roleplaying.

570, and the dog probably carries around 200.

Modded my armor for more carrying weight, then modded my power armor for more carrying weight, then I wear both with Lone Wanderer.

So..anyone found any legendary Gauss Rifles yet? I haven't seen anything drop them, and I really would like a special one.

Pretty sweet
Because winners do drugs in Fallout

This gun is kinda crazy.
It's my main weapon, basically the only thing I spend caps on is 10mm just so I can keep using it. As you do Tinker Tom's MINA missions (or maybe just as time goes on) he'll start to sell some of the higher tier mods for it so you don't even need gun nut to make it really good.

So with power armor, do you pretty much have to leave it in one place, and only use it when you really need it due to the fusion cores?

Just started the game and I know this is a broken record but damn is it ugly.

It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't have that great intro menu to the game that shows how the game could actually look if the devs gave a damn. Then there are the charachter models and texturing that is shown during the loading screen that isn't indicative of anything in the actual game.

One other thing. What the hell is up with the weird orange shimmering thing that outlines all the models and foliage in the game when you pan the camera

I'm on pc so thank god for console commands, I tried playing vanilla but I just couldn't do it without upping the weight limit. I'm at 10,000 and it's been smooth sailing since :) I pick up every single thing I see lol.

Ending is kinda rubbish, innit? :/
This is probably the dullest Bethesda's writing has ever been. It feels like conversations hardly deviate, and the protagonist is dull and characterless. The story itself is the typical Bethesda "Good vs Evil" stuff that fits decently with The Elder Scrolls but awful in the Fallout universe.

Where did you get that? 🙏

I think it's a mission reward.

It reduces the AP required for VATS shots meaning you get a lot more shots off for a single bar. In addition you get extra accuracy for VATS making it super powerful for sniping folks.

This just proves that having a weight/loot limit in games is archaic design that no player ever has wanted

Not if you go all in on the Nuclear Physicist perk...
I use my armor all the time and have 70 cores
70 + Nuclear Physicist = 140 cores :p

I love being stealthy in these games sniping, pick-pocketing, and stabbing people in the back but the one thing I dislike about the sneaking perk is that at rank 3 it makes you invulnerable against any traps.

It sounds awesome, but I wish there was a way to turn this off. Part of the fun for me is being cautious and looking out for traps and disarming them. Now that they never go off, there's no threat. And if you want to sneak in this game, the perk is pretty much mandatory to level up or else everyone will hear you a mile away.

lol, could you actually go up to that tower where the sidequest spoiler
USS Constitution crashes into
before? Ive seen it but never tried going up there

also where do you even get (Weapon Spoiler)
cannonballs
for the
Broadsider
?

nah bruh, it's like caps, when you first start the game, yea you may be a bit low, but later, you'll have too damn many. I got like 70 cores right now. I use my power armor 24/7. only get out to talk to people with my CHR gear on, and to use the work bench.

Using my power armor 24/7, sprinting all the time, using my jet pack, and even using a gatling gun, all of that runs off of fusion cores and I STILL got too many. I get em faster than I can spend them.

I aint complaining though...................... <.<.............>.>

also.......................just to let yall know, plasma thrower.............too stronk, even on very hard.

The Xbox One version struggles with urban areas and anything involving verticality.

Boston itself is a bit of a dice roll when it comes to whether things will work as they should, and even out in the wastelands, climbing any towers to get a view of the skyline really breaks things down. I climbed the walkways of a power station chimney fairly early on in the game and I'm pretty certain it dipped well below 20fps.

The Xbox One version seems totally fine to me outside of that. But it's absolutely noticeable when it happens.

I am playing the Xbox One version... haven't seen any of this, tbh.

Like someone suggested before a titanfall mod would be great. Shoot a flare on the ground and seconds later your power armor falls from the sky. Too bad a mod like this probably needs the creation kit and script extenders.

Having to go back to my settlement, grab the PA, fast travel back, it breaks my immersion.

You guys aren't getting massive frame drops when deep in the downtown area? Other areas are pretty much fine for me, but the frame rate when in the city (particularly the area outside around Goodneighbor) is almost unplayable at times. For indoor areas, there was a toy horse factory infested with Super Mutants that was particularly bad as well.

I agree that the game looks great though.

For me it does chug a bit in the city areas you mentioned but it's certainly not unplayable, at most it's a 2 second dip, PS4 version. Also i wonder what kind of performance i'm gonna get when i get to that
heavily scripted
mission i've been hearing about.
Oh and guys i think i want to get romantically involved with piper but i'm playing a lady, am i screwed?

I can't for the life of me seem to start Nick's quest. He doesn't bring it up as a companion, there's no dialogue option for it...any tips?

What's up with G
eneral
A
tomics
G
alleria
? I've persuaded the Director and I've found the password to access the computer behind him but there's nothing I can do. Is the place tied to a quest I haven't found yet or somehting?

So, uhm, pretty new here. Lucas Simms 2.0 just told me his life story after I just plain told him not to do so because I didn't care, but he did it anyway. Does this happen a lot in this game?

Asides from that, I managed to find a Fat Man within 5 hours of gameplay. Just came across some camp and shot at a raider with power armour for about 5 minutes and got it. The balancing of loot is a bit weird so far.

Yeah, though I feel Witcher 3 has forever spoiled me in this regard. Nothing comes close to that game.

Unless I'm missing something, you can just take out a fusion core when it is low, put it back in, and it will be fully charged. Same number or cores, and it's on 100%....???

That's just how it goes huh

I finished the covenant quest. Hours later I went by there and everyone was hostile, now I have a new encampment.
