just did like 4 random sidequests, just those repeatable ones...I keep saying im done with them and will focus on the story but then, I just...I just like how the game plays and feels. Its fun >_<

damn it Fallout, even that story beat cant make me hate you

I did the same thing, for the same reason. I did A LOT of those repeatable quests.

The way they constantly take you to new locations you haven't been keeps them from being tedious.

Stuck in between Cervega power plant mission and settlement building. I have enough on my plate as it is now.

Although I did want to visit the plastic surgery doctor since I think my character looks too healthy looking for someone living in apocalypse world.

People keep saying this. How do you get him to do it for you?

Go back where the gun is locked up. Talk to him and ask him to fetch items. Then after you get it, talk to him again, choose trade and take the ammo.

Say the password is "Bear"

You are given a few words such as 'barn' 'dart' 'leer' 'bare' and ' card'.

You pick dart as your first guess, you will get 0 likeness because none of those letters synchnonize with 'Bear'.

Your next guess is 'leer', you get a likeness of 2 because the first 'e' in leer and 'r' match with 'Bear'.

It's the order of the letters that matter, not just the mere fact that they have the same letters. So if you picked 'bare', you would only get a likenss of 1(the b) even though the letters are identical.

Hope that helped.

Thanks a lot! that certainly clears things up! Damn that makes more sense that i expected, the ordering is key.

Have you guys removed the duds? Makes hacking so much easier and saves alot of time. Specifically step 6.

That's the first time i have heard of duds....and i have played Fallout 3 and new vegas.

I still don't get how that shit works, i know the number is the amount of letters that you have matched with the password but how can you tell which letters are which?

It's not explained with a tutorial, but the terminal ONLY hints at EXACT letter matches. It's up to you to decipher which letters they are.

If a word you guess has 0 matches, choose a word next using NO letters that fit in the exact spaces as the prior one. Same letters are fine, just not in any of the identical slots of the word.

If a word has say...3 matches. Three of the letters in the word are correct and in the proper position. You need to just think carefully and compare with other guesses to figure out what they would be and make the next best guess to fit.

Not complicated stuff, but it does force more concentration than say lock picking.

What did you do about Radiation? I was fast travelling to DC just for the doctor all the time early on. RadAways are too valuable.

I haven't had any trouble whatsoever. I have 50 RadAways in storage right now. I spend a lot of time walking around with some health chipped off, but it's not a big deal. I just got myself a Hazmat suit last night too so I don't forsee it ever being a problem going forward.

I hated that quest

I liked the setting but agh, by the end, that quest defined checklists. I liked it a lot...except for the whole...you know...doing the actual tasks part, since it actually was very unfun to me as a quest >_>

Lol I did the repairs pretty fast with the INT checks. I just needed to put on my mechanic suit and take some mentats for the last one. Really quick quest as a result, I bet the searching for parts was a slog.

I just realized that after finishing a certain mission, you can now tell who's done that same mission by the amount of fusion cells they have in their inventory :D

So here you have

ORIGAMI
LINEAGE
BIOGENS
GINGHAM
GONGING
MIGRANT
PINGERS
MINTING
TINGING
SOPRANI
GINNING
DINGIER

Say the password is actually MIGRANT. Your first two guesses should work in concert together, make them completely opposite. I'd go with GONGING and ORIGAMI. Notice how neither have letters that line up together. For GONGING you'd get a likeness of 1. For ORIGAMI you'd get a likeness of 1. Now you can rule out MINTING, TINGING, GINNING, SOPRANI, DINGIER, PINGERS, BIOGENS and GINGHAM.

They can all be ruled out because they all have 2 letters in common with either GONGING or ORIGAMI. You now have only LINEAGE and BIOGENS left as options. You have two guesses left so just guess both and you'll be in. If you had more than 2 left you repeat the process one more time or take a look at the words and see which remaining words have 1 word in similar with your first two guesses. If any have no words in common with your first two guesses you can rule that out as well.

I was operating based mostly on this assumption before and got pretty far till the words got this long and I noticed there was more nuance than I originally thought.

Yeah if you look closely, I even messed that one up. The methodology is right but I did that in a rush and screwed up my first two guesses (; Making them completely opposite helps especially if one of them gets a likeness of 0 or both of them get a high likeness. My method would have still gotten to the right answer but it wouldn't have worked if I had picked a different password since ORIGAMI and GONGING have the G in common. Oh well. I'll do a detailed one tonight from my actual game.

If you do it properly your first two guesses decided if you'll get it right or not. Picking those is crucial. I take it as a challenge because I like puzzles but for some i'll be quicker to just keep retrying.

I was watching a friend play when he encountered her. I almost fell out of my chair lol, really scared the fuck out of me.

Yeah, it was nightime too. Looked like
Godzilla coming out of the sea
or something lol. This along with another similar encounter with this type of "thing" are probably the highlights of the game for me so far.

For Diamond City being the "main city", my two favorite quests in the game actually come from Goodneighbor.

The Silver Shroud is incredible and shouldn't be passed up by anyone. There was also The Dig. Both quests had pretty satisfactory conclusions and a few chances to flex your Charisma checks.

I thought this was just a bottomless clip- not providing you with ammo. Can you fire even when you're out of mini nukes?

I only needed to search for 2 of them, but yes, it was baddd.

I love how cheesy the Silver Shroud quests were. Those dialogue options to speak as the Shroud were wonderful.

Ok this is really annoying. I planted a bunch of tato crops and they dont seem to be producing anything. Also I cant get rid of them in workshop mode. Is there a console command or something I can use to fix this? Also are there spots I can plant them where they wont do this?
PC version btw.

just used a fatman to nuke a vertibird out of the sky

Anyone found a fix for the bug during the quest "Confidence Man"?

When going to rescue Vadim in the Brewery, both Bull and his friend are set as essential, thus cannot die. They get down and shortly after return with full health.
I've checked Reddit and lots of people seem to have the same issue... they seem to have found a way to fix it using console commands, but I'm on PS4. :(

Ugh The USS Constitution quest is bugged for me. I'm at the point where I need to enter the Corvega Assembly Plant, but entering any of the doors glitches the game to a black screen and a continual loop of sound effects. The game crashes and I have to reload, but I cant get in there to get the part :(

So it appears the Corvega Plant location is completely broken for me. I loaded up an earlier savegame and tried to re-enter the plant and I get the same issue. Is there a way to reset this location back to normal and/or fix the physics here ?

I reverified steam cache files but it didnt fix it

Same thing happened to me, they're bugged. I think it has to do with proximity to each other.

Feel like I got an OP weapon right off the "bat". Been playing a melee character and grabbing all melee focused perks. Found Gronak's armor. In the first ~8 hours of the game I got a unique (off a legendary mob) baseball bat that I maxed out mods on and uses 50% less AP in VATs. I one-hit or two-hit pretty much everything in Normal, Hard and Very Hard. I had to turn the game to Survival in order to have any chance of dying.

Hope I can keep going. Most quests are just running up, hitting Q, bashing the hell out of 3-4 things in one VATS run and regenerating those AP at 50% speed.

This killed Skyrim for me when I used the blacksmith to make an insane sword in the first 10 hours that threw lightning and killed giants.

I had to reload an old save from before the mission started. Not ideal but only way i could do it.

Not sure if a save at an earlier part of the mission would work too.

Is the pipe pistol the only weapon base that uses a .38?

I really don't want to put a bunch of resources into it because it looks like shit. >_>

No, I have a sniper rifle too, but it's a piece of shit.. something like 22 damage. I used it all the time until I unlocked the find ammo perk, and now I have lots of ammo for my good guns

Is the level cap 50?

No level cap, but there is an achievement for getting to level 50

I'd like to know too, I have over 700 rounds of .38 but the only weapons that use it are pipe weapons, which are virtually useless when I'm level 20.

You mean in loot lists? It seems like the loot list prioritizes from top to bottom: legendary, ammo, aid, and gear. So unless you're getting like 5 legendaries per person they should always show up at the near top.

No vendor lists. Most of the ammo starts with a number, so it was all at the beginning. But shotgun shells starts with an S. Just a brainfart by me.

I'm using a Pipe Rifle and it's my main weapon, exactly due the ammo being plenty. With the perk for extra-damage for non-automatic rifles and some good mods, it's a pretty good weapon (at lvl 13 btw)

So I guess settlers can't be killed by raiders/super mutants? I just had three of them run headfirst into a suicide mutant, and they all just crawled around on the ground like essential NPCs
