Speaking of,

Has anyone come across a paint mixer (with cans of paint around it)? I forget where I found one but it looked like you could actually mix paint with it. I remember it saying something about how you need blue and yellow to make green or something. Is that used for anything?

specific side quest in
diamond city
deals with it.

Questions...

Anyone have trouble with Trouble Brewin' quest? I kept
Drinkin' Buddy and sent him to Sanctuary Hills
. Quest doesn't complete and he has a marker over his head.

Are there controls in Build Mode to raise and lower items without moving the camera around? I feel like there is but I'm just missing it for some reason.

Finally, does anyone else have glitched crops? I have like a row of Mutfruit that cannot be interacted with at all. I'm pretty sure it originally counted toward my total food but now it doesn't.
Reposting in case anyone has any answers.

Trying to get through all my quests before I pick up anymore is slowly happening. There is always something happening on my way to another quest.

How are you guys getting so many caps? Even with the extra caps perk i'm always just around 1000, and I can't afford to buy much ammo let alone anything else. Thats with 5 shops set up in Sanctuary too. They give me about 125 caps every few days :/
Well in my particular case I have super high charisma and luck. I get mondo caps from basically everyone just for starting or turning in a quest, and then I find caps everywhere and (more importantly it turns out) find lots of ammo, which I can in turn sell the varieties of I don't need for profit. Most of my caps have come from taking every vendor in Diamond City for all their caps. I also don't ever hesitate to sell junk unless it has components I know I can't find easily. I've made several journeys to Diamond City (after nearby raids) way over the weight limit, which I imagine many players don't have the patience for but feels very satisfying to me, like I'm really a trader weighed down with tomorrow's coin.

I haven't set up shops yet... 125 caps every few days sounds really light based on the profit I can make in a day. But I guess if it's just money for nothing after you get them set up it'd still be worth it.

I bet that you find duct tape and pipe guns

Because, it's the same loot everywhere
The good stuff is on legendary mobs
So a waste of time is what you're sayin? I will probably spend the points on other perks then. Maybe ill ho do that much later on when I run out of things to do then. Thanks.

what's the quickest way to get aluminum? stealing alarm clocks?
Aluminum cans and surgical and cafeteria trays are a good bet.

I do like naming my customized legendary weapons (pics taken around lvl 36 with 60% in Rifles Perk) -

This can take out most things at close range

The Recon sight is great and a Critical or headshot is a guaranteed one hit kill (except Super Mutant Behemoths..bastards).

Not a Legendary but my first Gauss Rifle and ridiculously powerful...and I've not fully upgraded it yet!

I sent it to the hotel in good neighbour and that ended the quest.

So I believe I have discovered a temporary invincibility glitch.

If you use something that completely heals your while in a fire fight (I'll use a Nuka Cola Quantum as an example).

So your health is nearly down in a firefight drink a Nuka Cola Quantum. While your health is regenerating if you are continuously hit but it's
1. not enough to overtake the speed your health is going up and
2. Not slow enough that your health finishes regenerating.
You can be continuously hit but not die.

Basically, until your health is completely regenerated your bar will keep going up and if you are being hit while this is happening your health will continuously climb and then be knocked back a few pegs and then climb and then down... etc

This only seems to work with items that will take your health from where it is to 100%

Honestly, yes. The stuff behind locked doors and terminals might be useful early on, but after 20 or so hours it's rarely anything special.

Haha so true, like I am walking all the way over here for one quest and pick up a radio signal on the way that starts another one and then 2 people are fighting in the middle of the road and a legenedary rad scorpion comes and.....I am trying to get to the first quest destination.

BoS questline is actually quite long after you go somehwere in the story

I have always had lockpicking and hacking in Fallout... really disappointed this time

Ran into a Gunner Commander that was wearing Power Armor. It was only a T-51 helmet, torso, and both arms though. I killed him. Is the only way to get the entire armor and fusion core to pickpocket the core? Killing people in Power Armor means you lose out on all but the pieces?

Pretty much. You lose the core and frame if you kill them before they take it off.

Pro-tip put a "-" in front of their name so they are always at the top of your inventory list. Also you can add italics, underline and indentation buy adding <i> <u> and <li> in front of the name.

Yes, I'm playing on pc. If anybody knows how to fix the UI and pipboy by consoles commands, it would be a life-saver.

About dogmeat, I'm sure I sent him to sanctuary, but it's just not there. I've looked everywhere in Sanctuary. Nearly spent an hour. I've also checked in other settlements just to be sure but not there either. But I remember clearly I sent him to sanctuary.

I would try disabling your UI and then enabling it.

~ activates your console command prompt.

tm — Toggles menus and UI on and off. It even stops you from seeing the console, so you'll have to press tilde and type tm again blind to get the UI back.

For Dogmeat the steps will be:

Open the console by using the TILDE key (~)
Type "prid 001d162"
Type "moveto player"
Press TILDE (~) again to close the console
That's it

If the UI doesn't work with that we can try other things. Let me know.

A question about the Parson States Insane Asylum quest. I'm in a bit of a pickle.

Jack Cabot told me to meet him back at his house for a reward after a week. The game just told me to go and meet him, and....that's it. I absolutely cannot find him in the house at all. Is my reward kaput?

I'm a tad pissed off about this.

hes in the asylum not the house

Sanctuary has a few dog houses. I remember Dogmeat went missing, until I checked on the north side, and he was in the house there. Best thing to do is send your companions to Red Rocket. Much more convenient compared to wandering about Sanctuary.

err I just failed out all my remaining Railroad quests without warning when I took a BoS quest

I thought the game was supposed to warn you when this would happen. Its no biggie I quicksave all the time but still

I haven't gone back to Jack Cabot to pick up that reward, but I did stumble across Cabot and what-his-face (his guard) wandering the wasteland up near Sanctuary. Cabot said they were exploring away from the house and looking for fiber optics, and offered to buy any that I had. Maybe he's off wandering?

they will use guns you give them IF they are prone to use that gun. it tells you what guns they like to use...somewhere
I see. I kept giving her better handguns and all she kept was that pea shooter, but I think I got it now.

press y (or equiv on your system) to equip items on your companion. maybe you gave her an outfit that has no hat slot though?

I thought that too, but she just had her default Carmen Sandiego coat.

I am pretty sure once you move something to their inventory you have to tell them to equip it.

If you go into the trade option with them, you can equip items for them to wear/use. It's "T" for me on keyboard.

Makes so much more sense now; was wondering what the deal was. Thanks for all the help everyone!

Any way to force them out besides pickpocketing the core?

Not that I know of. Not sure. Maybe if you sneak around at night and wait till they try to sleep and take the armor off. I've never seen a enemy do that though, because they are usually dead within seconds of seeing me sooooooooo.............

I can't even send my companions to Sanctuary. The option is grayed out.

I send my companions to the rocket shop now
easier to find them, and they defend my precious loot :p

It would really be easier to find your companions if you could move their resting points to be closer to wherever everyone else is at. I tried to move doges house and he would not have it. I built him another one and even tried to scrap the original but it won't budge. ~_~

That's Piper, the Reporter Companion from Diamond City.

Piper you say? Hmm...?
Sorry :( I know that was creepy and I feel terrible :(

..however. I'm not anywhere ready to even start tackling to boning simulation in the game yet. I've only explored some of the top-left hemisphere of the game. I'm curious as to the availability of female partners in this game. Can you chose where they live? I don't want my future wife to die on me
...again
:(

How do low strength characters deal with encumbrance? I've been ok with Lone Wanderer R2 with Dogmeat but going to try out Piper companion so I'll lose 100 weight limit. Do you guys just carry only 1-2 guns?

1 str here, Lone Wanderer, no Dogmeat. Pure solo. I carry 3 guns (more early game because of ammo scarcity), wear light armor and travel back to sanctuary to dump junk/sell shit frequently.

"Defend covenant" just bugged out haaard. Main dude comes up to me and the subtitles show he's speaking and asking me questions, but he doesn't actually talk nor move his mouth. I can still respond and stuff, but it lingers there for a while. >_>

Nope just chilling with his dad dead. It's almost sweet hahaha

Why didn't you just mark it as active so you had a waypoint to follow?

Well I was told a location...so I went there lol. But yeah that would have...saved me a lot of time.

You can use console commands to increase your weight limit. Or if you're on console you can command your companion to pick up items even if they're at 100% weight limit and they will pick it up.

Damn, just got the Confidence Man sidequest glitch where I nor the enemies can die, and I don't have a manual save file from before it started. Fuck. Any word on when this is getting fixed?

What's the best way to assign beds to those dumb as shit settlers? I have 38 beds and 21 settlers, not enough to go around they say. They really can't just decide whose bed is whose themselves?

I've been ringing the bell and assigning them but the majority of them look the same and I keep assigning the same people rather than the new ones. Also, those motherfuckers walk away meaning I lose track of who's who even easier.

I think I'm switching my build to be more luck based on critical using
Kelloggs
pistol. I think I will just use that and the Deliverer for when I don't want to wake up every mob around.

What is the max ammo you can carry?

Also just imagine a build, your AP is refilled on critical, you can store critical, you get more critical as you shoot. Lovely. Then add gun-fu where you get criticals for targeting more enemies (late game).

Max it'll show on your counter is 999, but I think it's pretty much unlimited.
