Gamespot: Yoshinori Ono talks DLC, Beta Woes and Xbox One Fans

No one is crying.

Like others mentioned, he should have taken the high road.

he didn't need to.

it's a $300 video game console, there isn't a "high road." Most gamers who really want a game on another console can afford to just buy the console if they want the game that badly. It's a special select few who take it that seriously, that they have to stick with the console they chose out of some weird obligation and they have to fight about that on the internet.

It's also stupid that people are still asking about the XB1 for the game at this point.

I know it's business, but the last comment was silly. No one is going to move to PS4 just for Capcom, they don't have that power or pull anyone. He should have just decline to comment.

Oh I missed part of this earlier, if I didn't have a PS4 or gaming PC already I'd buy one for SF5. I know others who made thier decision based on SF5 also. In my experiences fighting game players are pretty due hard and SF is about as core of a series for it as there is.

Statement was still unprofessional though and I'll stand by that.

That was the high road. Cutting off any speculation or nuance that could be gained from his statements.

He was clear. If you want to play the game, save up for a PS4, there's plenty of time to do so.

The Skullomania part is hilarious

I just wanted to say that if I had, for some reason, chosen the XB1 over the PS4, and then SFV had been announced, I FOR SURE would have bought a PS4 by the game's release.

I'm just that big of a fan, and I don't think I'm alone. In fact, two of my friends have already done exactly that.

I guess what I'm saying is "never say never." Us crazy fighting game fanatics are out there.

If this game has turned out to be PS exclusive (no PC) I would have purchased a PS4 and a CronusMax/Titan One.

As for Ono's response...

No need to add more salt to the wound ;_;

Crappy snide response to be honest (get a 2nd job anyone..) Keep at it and I won't be getting your game even when I get a ps4

Why would X1 owners even want SF5 when they have Killer Instinct?

We finally have this gen's "Get a second job." I feel like a real weight has been lifted off my shoulders now.

Probably why it's not getting a lot of these fighters. KI scaring the competition.

Make the SFIV's Backwards compatible on Xbox One then.

One of my friends bought a PS4 just to play the beta for SF V. That's at least one person, which is more than no one.

There will be plenty more because Street Fighter has a dedicated fan base, with players that put thousands of hours into the games.

Wanting SF IV back compat is salt?
Yes, and it's not good for your blood pressure friend
Especially when the comment sounded demanding

You know what's cool, saving money for things you want, having a budget, ect ect

Microsoft had exclusives I wanted, I saved up and bought the system(and those games won't even be out until 2017 probably)

His response about the Xbox fans reminds me Ken Kutaragi telling me that I would have to get a second job, impolite. Anyway, fighting games are not my thing.

Save up $300 is a lot easier than "buy a $1000 PC that needs monthly upgrades to keep running"

I would imagine the part where it's funded by Sony also contributed.
Oh, thank you! Almost forgot to buy my november graphics card.

What is your message to Street Fighter fans on Xbox One?

O: [Laughs] There’s plenty of time to save $300 before the game comes out. The PlayStation 4 is at a very attractive price point at the moment. [Laughs]

You got to when the company has a fan-base on the other console or otherwise the other games could be potentially affected.

No, he really doesn't. His answer was certainly not pc (pun unintended), but his answer is by no means meant to upset non-PS4 owners. Yoshinori Ono is the same guy who shows up to events wearing elaborate costumes and Street Fighter-inspired head wear. He's clearly being comical in his response to the question -- he literally laughs at the end of it.

this is an awful answer looks like

"fortunately we have a product for people who aren't able to get some form of connectivity, it's called Xbox 360"

They've made it painfully clear since the beginning that its not gonna be on any other platform.
Question has been asked a million times now. He's just giving a straight up, no bullshit answer.
And I'm pretty sure Ono said it in a playful manner like he always is.

Why would I be salty because xb1 isn't getting a lot of the fighters ps4 is?

I own them both. I'm not the one missing out on stuff.

Edit: Jesus, this thread is a cluster fuck. Lol.

Ono > the entire Square Enix/CD team when it comes to answering PR questions :). To be fair I'm sure CD was told certain things they couldn't say, but good to know Ono is still Ono :)

I know KI has a different sales expectation, and frankly a different way of selling their entire game, but Street Fighter is probably the most popular fighting franchise, why would it be scared of KI, a series that just got revived after being dead since the Nintendo 64? I dunno, it does seem like a weird comment, unless it was meant tongue in cheek.

Or just start saving money ? Cut unnecessary expenses ?

Really though, it's the platform the game is on. He wasn't being impolite, he was being realistic.
or maybe get a loan. For the record I have aPS4, just not interested in SF.
More than realistic I'd say sarcastic and there are better ways to handle a question like that. Sure, he isn't PR but that is a big fuck you for some of my Xbox only friends that are interested in the game.

It's true, and I am disappointed. There was and still is absolute out rage over the timed deal for RoTR, yet this got the pass due to the funding and it's absence if it wasn't for the deal. I agreed with that, and I still agree with this deal, it was a smart move to sign for exclusivity to bring the game release date forward. Although, the game WOULD still be around if it wasn't for this deal, albeit later, but it would still be here.

The answer he gave is obnoxious and aligns with the 'second job' mantra of Sony in '06. A general amount in here have acted positively to the answer.

The whole thing is hugely hypocritical.

Fucking hilarious.

MS paying to keep TR off Playstation for year = Sony helping fund SF5 development so it can release 2 years earlier? What world do you live in?

Why stir this pot? No pc gamer wants to play on console settings so $1000 is a fair price point because ultra or bust right? And every time a new big name title comes out there is some sort of upgrade for my gpu for some specific quirk associated with the game so you make a valid point. Just sthap.

I remember a guy from Crystal Dynamics saying "now is a good time to buy a Xbox One" in reply to similar question about ROTR. Obviously it didn't gather the publicity Ono's comment has.

In both cases, if it's well established, which platforms are getting the game and when, I don't see the point of the question. It's one thing to needle a developer or producer when they're being unclear, it's another to just be annoying as hell :).

There are plenty of older games to play on PC.

Recommended System Requirements
OS: Windows Vista
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad 2.66 GHz or better
Memory: 2 GB RAM
Graphics: GeForce 8600 or better
DirectX Version: DirectX

That was for Ultra Street Fighter IV

It doesn't seem that intensive.

I do have to agree with the "hypocrisy" stated by leeh. No matter the exclusivity thing, it's done. I don't care about it not going to XBO as I'm going to get it on PC (I refuse to buy a PS4 just for that game) but the statement is just like the "Get a second job", "...it's called the Xbox 360" type of statements.

The fact of the matter is that people got mad at those executives when they honestly did tell the truth (just like Ono) but they were "crucified" for it, but Ono says it, and "he's just being honest as this question has been asked to death". Nah, that's hypocritical. Treat everyone the same or just be honest that you aren't being objective in the situation but trying to seem like you are.

It's ok to be partial to what Ono says, human nature, you aren't going to be objective all the time, but if someone calls out bullshit to what is being said, you don't have to "back him up" just because. That's just dumb.

i don't see how this is a burn by Ono, he just straight up tells everyone that you should get a PS4 if you really want it.
what's wrong with that?
