I think i'm gonna run away from NeoGAF for a month or 3 until I complete the game 100% so I don't get blinded by other people's opinions or experiences of things.

I want to go in fresh and then write a long essay about what I thought of the game 5 months after it is out.

I'm not going to wait until I've done it all. Probably just the main story to avoid spoilers, but a big part of the fun I had with Xenoblade was the mutual give and take of helping everyone out with questions of where the hell to find everything, optimal character builds, taking advantage of overpowered art/skill/gem combinations... I could go on and on. I'm hoping to do this with the in-game online features as well.

I don't think there was ever going to be a competition between em. Zelda doesn't have all those rpg systems of grinding/buying/upgrading stuff to fill a world like Xenoblade's. Not to mention a ton of development focus would go to the dungeons.

Single player with multiplayer quests you can unlock. You can also trade stuff and rent other people's avatars for use in battle.

Yeah, the level of pop-in is quite extreme, and that would detract from a lot of experiences. It definitely seems to be a rather remarkably optimized game in any scenario, which is quite welcome in this day and age.

are you saying the pop in still exists on the disc version even with the data packs?

For anyone that's contemplating getting the guide due to the lack of 'available information', I've got a big spreadsheet I've been working on full of stuff. The only significant things it's missing right now are enemy drops(and the Cauldros enemy details), and a section for devices/crafting, but I should have most of those bits done by the English release.
