Kof 94 actually looks pretty good.
Didn't that Maximum Impact game teach them the lessons?
Did they forget those lessons?
Of course they learned their lesson, which is why they are staying away from that artstyle that set them back several years. All the effort they put into the last KOF art style and they want to abandon it for this again?

This is sad to me.
I will now go back to watching Jessica Jones.

The thing that I find most hilarious about all this?
It was already getting harder to "defend" why SNK/P's games looked the way they did by the turn of the century. By the time KOFXI came out almost ten years ago, it was just more so. I remember so many arguments on various message boards where a number were decrying why KOF "looks like shit compared to GGXX", let alone those who adhered to SF3 as the "gold standard every 2D fighter should strive for". (And of course, for people who were actually playing the damn games, it wasn't so much of an issue.)
Now, as 2015 comes to a close, we're seeing the same thing all over again with XIV being compared to XRD and SF5. Truly, the more things change...
There's clearly improvements in the graphics with each trailer. Now we can actually see textures on things like Iori's coat.

I'm convinced people calling this PS1 graphics are blatantly shit posting.
The most important thing is whether or not they've sorted out their netcode. If it's as bad as XIII then this game is really doomed.
Having a game look like this is not going to help the company.
Going to get blasted in reviews off the visuals alone. Bad publicity or just flat out being dismissed by potential consumers is not what SNK needs as they try to stay alive.
Sad if true. Can't afford consoles.Today's press release from SNK
Mentions the game being exclusive to PS4 in 2016.
XIII's netcode on steam is very solid, I play the game regularly.

You play in Steam? I have troubles finding matches and they can be really laggy. Where are you from?
There's nothing wrong about it, but this is like the 4th KoFXIV thread and that's all people want to talk about. It's annoying having to waddle through the same posts over and over and over again and it's not changing anytime soon.Personally, I don't see anything wrong/weird in gamers complaining (not shitposting) about graphics/artstyle/design of a fighting game.

We heard the first 30 times, game looks bad they should have stuck with 2D, we get it.

What game has ever helped the company financially that was not the MI series, MS Defense, or pachinkos past 2000? The company has been a float for years and now it is likely that their ips are moving beyond gaming for Asia. It is foolish at this point to think SNK cares that much about new consumers.
The MI series didn't help either. Notice that they stopped making MI and went back to traditional KOF.
I think it was a good point that this game doesn't look that different than an Ultimate MVC3, or even something like Tatsunoko VS Capcom. It's kinda par-the-course for games that focus on Roster Number over a smaller, more concentrated cast.
I'd hate to see what they do to Terry.
I always took MI not being continued because SNK knew that MI couldn't compete with the graphics needed to move from PS2 to PS3/360."Went back"? MI never replaced traditional KoF. Also pretty sure that the MI games stopping was more because of Falcoon leaving than it not doing well.

i disagree with this assertion. i especially dont think the animation is comparable to either of those titles atm.
Yea, I agree. It's like people don't look at past King of fighter games and see that they are never about how pretty they look.
Why'd you have to fuck up KoF SNK? WHYYYYYYYYYYY?
It's muh favorite ;-;
What is this nonsense? Part of KOF's charm and draw has ALWAYS been about how detailed and impressive and gorgeous its sprite-based visuals were in comparison to other sprite-based 2D fighters in the market at the same time.
Like, seriously, visuals were one of the main points of attraction for those who became SNK / Neo Geo fans.
No , no it hasn't. People complained for years that the game looked too similar between entries. Some of you are coming in hot after two games.
If it's your favorite, why are you so focused on the graphics? KoF only recently had decent sprite art. For years it was rehashed over and over.
The animations are on point, despite the hitstun. There's a video floating around of comparisons between the movelist in this game and the previous games.
I've been playing KOF since '94 first showed up in my local arcade, and SNK fighters since SNK fighters existed. I completely disagree with you, at least from every component of the fanbase I've been in / around / known.

I actually think TVC running in the Dolphin emulator is more pleasant to look at compared to what I've seen of KOF14. For some reason It also happened to have the best looking 3D Ryu until SFV.

He looks frail and sick :<He looks so bad... like 90s cg bad.

Maybe Andy is taking the Gen route and is looking for somebody to kill him in battle. He looks frail and sick :<

96' and 98' had really good sprite art though.
It stagnated through 00' and 02' sure but since it's been great, art direction has been on point since Maximum Impact hit, IMO.
I just think the assets look janky and broken, I'll buy into it being alright when I actually have a controller in my hand. But this is a pathetic effort to step into 3D with the series.
I always found the art comparable to Street Fighter A2
So suddenly, KoF's spritework is bad and the series always looked bad, and this is a return to form, and people should accept this, and now SNK doesn't want new players, they're catering to a dwindling fanbase by making it exclusive on console with no arcade release?
is that really what people are saying?
I think some people might be conflating looking bad with repeatedly using the same sprites. With little to no changes.
