Fighting Games Tournament: Dreams Don't Die at Dreamhack Winter 2015

Can someone explain to me why Dakou is now qualified? Phenom got 3rd at a premier event, #1 and #2 are already qualified. Shouldn't he get the spot? That's exactly how RB got his direct qualification in Milan.

Luffy took the premier spot right here at Dreamhack. He had only qualified via points so he was still eligible for a premier spot.

Luffy qualified by points and not winning or placement in a premiere. This means that he is awarded that entry for winning this premiere event. Dakou had the most points after that.

Also I do think Phenom could have won Humanbomb. But Luffy has keept the european gatekeep real.

If I had a Delorean and traveled back in time to make him DOTA player instead I think we would have at least 3 extra Europeans in Capcom Cup(this year) once you take his points and spread it out to the rest of the top Euro players.

Luffy is in via points, but he actually (amazingly) isn't in via a Premier auto-qualification. This is a Premier spot only event (no points are being given out). Xian already has a Premier auto-qualifier spot, so it goes to Luffy by default now.

Edit: It's okay Luffy, SFV will be out soon ;__;

Oh right, thanks. Luffy has so many points, I completely missed that he didn't qualify diretly thus far.

Luffy was qualified via points, but he takes the premier spot and realeses the point slot.

RB got qualified cuz both Fuudo and Xian were already in.

Behold the new face of villainy:
sf3-victory-elena.jpg

I, for one, welcome our new Kenyan overlord.

I'm just happy that a SF3 character has been the worldwide center of attention for nearly an entire year.

Elena finally getting the shine that she deserved 18 years ago, lol.

Those SF3 characters that "no one knows about"...

"How d'ya like us now?" - signed Elena, Yun, Yang

EDIT: I hope Alex, Ibuki, and Urien turn out to be top tier, too.

Well, Yun was top tier in 3 as well.

Noel Brown is mad that Luffy won the auto spot. Lol.

I'm not even sure what his argument is.

He's mad that players who are already qualify in points get a premiere qualification because...?

If it didn't work that way, Phenom would qualify for Cap Cup from third, at the expense of Dakou who has more points. That seems more unfair.

Yeah I don't really understand what Noel Brown is angry about. Sucks for Phenom but it'd be hard to say he got screwed by the rules. I think he doesn't understand that Luffy wasn't actually qualified, he was just mathematically certain based on points.

Man, Ryan Hart has really fallen off since last year. :-(

And while I totally understand the Elena hate, I wish the commentators had toned down the complaint and salt against the character.

We should totally have a betting thread
It makes the most sense to have it in the CC grand finals thread.

F-Word hates the character, he talked trash about her before Elena even appeared, I think.

I'm not even sure what his argument is.

I'm going to take a stab in the dark and guess that he's thinking what Kim1234 was thinking earlier this year. Kim thought that maybe guys that are already qualified shouldn't be allowed to compete in future events and basically gate keep. That would only make tournaments less interesting though since the best players would stop coming if they were automatically DQ'd from entering future events.

Or maybe he actually didn't know Luffy didn't win a auto spot yet. But I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt on that part and assume he just got a little sick of seeing the gate keeping.

EDIT: Going by his tweets it just seems like he's saying that Luffy shouldn't get the spot since he's in no matter what even though he never earned a auto spot. That sounds even more shady than the rules we have right now.

So Xian would not have been able to compete since march, Daigo since April. Do they realise how ridiculous that idea is?
The current system is pretty good honestly. Someone like Luffy is probably the worst case scenario for it, but not a big deal, either.
