No Ape Escape?
That's probably coming in the next batch. No Ape Escape?![]()
When Nintendo does it, no one bats an eye.
When Sony does it, everybody loses their minds.
The "this won't be available on PS5" is a good argument.
The idea is to keep your games across generations. Not having to rebuy everything because "hey, they are up-resed now!".
It really is the opposite of what I want. The only problem should be licenses not Sony themselves.
Worst case scenario with this.
Why are they 4:3, aren't widescreen hacks a trivial addition to 3D emulation?

When we say 1080p upres, are we literally discussing the resolution it renders in? Or will there be texture and frame rate enhancements??
Just watched the video. Those don't look rendered at a higher resolution at all to me.
This is the complete opposite of what I want.
1) This requires development effort, which means a lot of the third party games I want won't be released on it, such as :
- Suikoden 3 to 5
- Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne
- Breath of Fire V: Dragon Quarter
- Valkyrie Profile 2
- Dragon Quest VIII
- Radiate Stories
- Grandia III
- Shadow Hearts 1 to 3
- And the most important game, Xenosaga Episode III
2) These games are made specifically for PS4 which means when PS5 rolls around, we're in the same boat and all our old purchases are wasted.
3) Same as above, all our existing purchases, whether disc-based or buying their current PS2 classics are wasted.
This is a fucking money grab. You could have supported both, with emulation and "enhanced emulation" (trophy support, up rendering, etc) for those select games. Shame on you Sony.
Yeah, but that is a nerfed version. I am assuming this is the ungutted ps2 version correct? The one with all the songs?I have San Andres on my phone and tablet. Runs smoothly at 1080P on my tablet. No thanks.

What would people prefer....slight remaster in 1080p with trophies OR full backwards compatibility with disc support?
The blog screenshots don't look 1080p at all, especially the Dark Cloud 2 pics.
Then you don't remember how ps2 games actually look.
Are you acting like Sony cares about disc support to begin with? We knew they didn't from the start.
