These VR games are complete crap. I can't believe soneone would pay good money for the goggles just to play that shovelware.

You may feel that way, but from the limited amount of time I've had with the various VR solutions, I find that the increase immersion factor is often enough to keep me interested in experiences I probably wouldn't care about if they were just on a TV.
