If what we're thinking happens happens, they run the pirate freighter, come down after Han & Chewie show up, get in a whup-ass fight scene, ending with Han jumping the Falcon OUT of the hangar bay while in park.

They might not be in the movie for much, but it's going to be one of the most memorable sequences, I bet.

Again - Snoke's been specifically described as an Alien. Cronal is a Human. He's also Legends-material.

It'd be really fucking cool, though, if Pablo essentially helped write the main villain of the Sequel Trilogy. But I dunno.

yeah but if you roughly combine the concept of Cronal with Plagueis plus ancient ancient Dracula bloodline king I think Snoke takes shape to be amazing.

Even if it's 10% of that possibility I think it's really cool

the theory is implying it is the base or inspiration for snoke. so not everything has to match. such as being an alien, etc.

(and btw if snoke really is an alien he sure doesn't look very unhuman from the concepts)

the theory is implying

Nah, it's saying Snoke is that dude.

So it's going to have any problem a theory like that is going to have: It depends on Abrams/Kasdan going to the EU for inspiration. Which they didn't do.

It just seems way more possible/plausible that Snoke is a new character. The benefits of tying it back into pre-existing stories in any form aren't really enough to justify that sort of digging. There's no payoff in it that would be appreciable to any extent. Not beyond just having "Snoke" simply be a bad wizard from some other part of the galaxy who filled a vaccuum when they saw it.

I want to join the Kanjiklub.

Great to see those actors' faces - will be good for them to get some recognition. Really pumped to see how their choreography looks, too.

Hey, it's the Raid guys.

Would have thought they'd be disguised with masks or prosthetics but this is cool too!

Actually, I think they're the pirates who are harassing Han and Chewie when we first meet up with them. I think. There are a lot of pirates and pirate clans in this movie.

edit: eh, beaten. My friends love The Raid, though; they're probably going to lose their shit when these guys show up. :3

Yep! I think you guys might be right.

Here is one of them in a Lego set with Han and Chewie:

Glad to see them get more exposure in Hollywood movies.

The Kanjiklub sounds kinda strange though... like a Japanese language school or something.

It was obvious from the get go that Snoke was a new character. We never had a single shred of actual evidence that he wasn't. Kasdan clearly has a disdain for the EU in most regards and clearly gets annoyed when people ask him questions about it.

He's a professional movie script writer. He doesn't care about a random character in a novel some writer probably wrote for a good cash grab.

Yep, Snoke's 100% a new character guys, just like Kylo Ren, Finn, Rey, etc. Interested to hear his backstory.

i'm guessing snoke is probably "new" but has some kind of involvement with palpatine's backstory, and whether Plagueis factors into that who knows. it'd be a little goofy to me if the new movies never expound on those things, they're a pretty big part of the mythos. but i understand they're trying to "move forward" as well so i expect it to go either way

What's the basis for everyone believing that Snoke is actually Plageuis? I never got around to reading the book. Genuinely curious.

Lunacy is the real basis, but otherwise people believe that there must be some connection between all three trilogies and Darth Plagueis is the perfect fit. Even more so than Vader, who has a presence in all three trilogies but let's ignore that.

He had some huge backstory in the EU I believe, but after that was erased we know little about him. He was probably Palpy's sith master (not outright said in Ep III but heavily implied). Sheev then tells Anakin a story about how Plagueis was so POWERFUL that he could create life via midichlorians (wat) and even prevent people from dying (wat). Palpatine ends the story saying that Plagueis was killed by his apprentice. The main purpose of this story is to contribute to Anakin being eventually swayed by Palpatine to join him, since he was concerned about Padme dying.

Since we never saw Plagueis die (or saw him at all), and his whole gimmick is immortality, people clung to the idea that he could show up again. This is dumb for multiple reasons.

A) It's clear that they kind of want to ignore anything in the PT. The word "midichlorians" isn't going to be said anywhere in the new trilogy. Nor will "taxes" or "Gungans." The only concept or idea I can see them bringing up is of course "Sith" which was not said in the original trilogy at all, yet is too big to ignore.

B)Palpatine could have just been making this shit up. I took it that way when I first saw the movie. I mean Palpatine's rise to power consists solely on tricking people. He wants Anakin, probably knows he's worried about Padme dying, so hey what if he just told some immortality legend to persuade Ani to join him? It totally sounds like something he would do. Hell even when Anakin kneels before monster mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash, Palpatine straight up says that he doesn't know how to make people immortal but he's working on it. By then it's too late for Anakin to do anything about it.

C)This whole story kind of builds on the very dumb idea of Anakin being a "virgin birth." So did Plagueis or Palpatine MAKE Anakin? God that's dumb.

I'm very intrigued to learn who Snoke is and his motivations. You gotta make everything bigger for whatever reason (instead of blowing up planets, let's blow up a STAR), so how do you top the supreme lord of evil who has a gigantic empire at his disposal?

Let it go. Plagueis was killed his sleep. His knowledge of cheating death obviously had nothing to do with resurrection.

The fact that Pablo Hidalgo, decades long respected fan and knowledge keeper of Star Wars and member of the story group committee was on Twitter making fun of people who believed the Plagueis rumor, was all the confirmation anyone should have needed.

Holy. Shit. I'm dying.

Send help.

Anyone see Harloff's tweets? He's still saying the Plagueis fan art is what Snoke looks like and is arrogantly expecting apologies from people asking him about the real art leaked here.

He doesn't have to worry about facing the internet when he's confirmed wrong since I am fairly certain he will commit seppuku if his sweet dear Plagplag isn't in the new trilogy.

I liked every word of this very much.

This, right?

Well, he seems confident as hell. Either he is gonna have to live this down forever or maybe snoke doesn't exactly look like the concepts. Afterall they are... concepts.

I think he's just basically hoping that at the last second it'll break the other way.

It won't.

But fuck credibility. They don't really need it, I guess.

If you think about it the situation is a win/tie for him anyways. If it was plagueis he would look like a hero. If it isn't but looks somewhat sort of kind of similar to a Muun he will just pass it off as him assuming it was him because of the visual similarities.

Didn't he initially think it was because of some hasbro design concept description from Campea's wife?

Neither can I. You have to ask yourself why someone who is trying to make make a name for himself would act that way. The fallout is going to be crushing.

He's one of The Schmoes and on Collider. I don't think he's worried about that. They do a lot more than just Star Wars stuff.

I have a question.

In the first movie. Did Obi wan let himself get killed in front of Luke or something? He didn't seem to defend himself against Vader.

He just can't fathom that both his and Campea's sources are wrong. Hell there's still like a .000001% chance he's right. He's holding out hope.

In other news, Manabyte has shut down his new SW site after only a week and is no longer working with MSW. Wonder what happened there.

I can't remember the exact term, but I always heard it explained as he "let go of the Force" or something to that effect. So basically he knew it was his time, he had faced Vader again and started Luke on his path, so he let go and passed on to the other side. Vader didn't kill him, he just kind of... went.

What did Harloff say Snoke looked like?

They 100% banked on this image:

ktBpmOs.jpgPlagious

I don't know why they fell for it, looks obviously amateur to me, and simply googling Plagueis will take you to the years old image the drawing was copied from. Their sources trolled them hard, if any.

I've fallen for my fair share of TFA troll bullshit, I admit. But for them to continue to defend their claim that the above image is Snoke is completely asinine. They are digging themselves a huge hole, one they may not be able to get out from when shit hits the fan in a few days.

It's a fucking shame, I actually kinda like what Collider Video does. They are a bit different and the stuff they turn out is pretty good.

But picking the plagueis hill (and even if its not the Character Plagueis, its that design) to die on isn't worth it. Just get the balls and say "hey our source was wrong sorry"

You won't lose viewers or fans for saying that.

You know what is going to happen, they are going to see the movie, realize their source was wrong and then never mention it again.

Want to know what the Plagueis nutjobs remind me of? I don't know who all was around the prequel leaks scene, but there extremely passionate people out there who honestly thought Palpatine and Sidious would end up being two different people. Either by sibling, or clone, or something. Even people who wrote for respectable web sites hitched their wagon to that stupid rumor.

I have seen more and more of those nutjobs start making up connections that Plagueis might of changed bodies after Sidious killed him. So theoretically he could be in that design and still be Plagueis.

There are going to be some really really unhappy hardcore fans after Thursday night.

That track list had everyone wondering WTF that was. Now we know it's a mini-Sarlacc.
And they kill one like the Rancor. More poetry.
