Rise of the Tomb Raider PC listed as January 29 on Amazon France

Ahead of schedule, it seems.

But with the abysmal sales of the XBone version, makes total sense.

I'm looking forward to trying it on the PC.
 
Square Enix: If we sell less than a million copies by 2016, we get to release it earlier on PC/PS4.
Microsot: Sure! (lol What's the chance of that happening?)

We'll see if this has any hope of being accurate. Will buy again, but was expecting April or so. Please fix the controls Nixxes (or whoever else is working on the PC version).

I was thinking this, as well. SE may have had a clause that it needed to sell a certain amount for exclusivity. Fewer numbers = less time for exclusivity.

Isn't Amazon FR's storied history of poor information just a product of terrible SKU tagging (e.g. Bloodborne PC)?
 
That's one short ass exclusivity window, but with how badly it appears to have sold on Xbox, I imagine Square would be eager to get it onto more popular platforms asap.
 
There has to be an escape clause in their contract for low sales. I would definitely expect the PS4 version much, much sooner than next August.
 
Seems early... but there was a guy in the NPD thread saying something about a Q1 PC release being possible.

BTW, does this game have gory deaths like the previous one? I found that kind of off-putting and didn't play it because of that.

Maybe the game didn't sell well enough on Xbox One, so they are pushing out the PC version earlier than expected? PS4 version will probably still be later into next year so the game can remain a console exclusive.

April does not fit the Q1 2016 window given. Q1 is January-March.
 
Amazon France has pretty much never been accurate on leaks or at least release dates. You would think this would be common knowledge by now.
 
seems early. but then again, if SE were smart and had a sales related clause in the contract that lets them release earlier on both systems if sales were bad...then it does make sense.

Heard it flopped hard on Xbox One. But is Amazon France a reliable source ? Anyways wonder when the PS4 version comes out, probably same day as the PC version.
 
This has to be the worst ever exclusive deal in the history of gaming lol.

Oh well, glad it's coming out so soon for the rest of us. Now with everyone finishing FO4, they'll have time to play this game.
 
That would be surprisingly fast - not sure I believe this.

Unless there was a clause in the contract that if it didn't sell X copies then Square Enix could release it more quickly than they had otherwise planned.

Not only that but Sunset Overdrive PC and the actual PS4 console itself listed as coming out for Windows

That was sarcasm, that's why he was referencing Amazon's listing of the PS4 coming to PC.
 
To be honest, I coud totally see them pulling the pc release forward. The launch was a massacre for them it seems and the more time passes, the more likely it is for people to wait for the PC or Ps4 version. Might aswell launch the pc version after the christmas period.
 
That's earlier than I think anyone expected. Wonder if poor sales accelerated the exclusivity period. Maybe PS4 version can come out earlier too. The lull of Summer would be a great time.
