He definitely looks like he's in fighting shape now based on that video of him dressed up as a Stormtrooper.

It's obvious they are building up to huge things with him and want to hold back on them for later in the trilogy. His skills were already getting solid by the end of RotJ, now he has had 30+ years to train and hone... imagine what a fight with him in it would be like. I for one don't want to see that in the first film. I want the payoff to be worth it.

I keep hoping that either he fights like the entire Knights of Ren, or just man handles Kylo. Would give even more props to Johnson if he does all of it without using a lightsaber, but I feel like that won't happen.

I'm just hyped for all of this I am consumed by Star Wars this week.

...have you even watched ANH? You can't imagine why they would name their son after Ben Kenobi?

No, I don't think Han nor Leia had anywhere near a strong enough connection to Obi-Wan to justify naming their kid after him.

Maybe Luke talked them into it. Whatever it's not a big deal.

This. I don't want to see Luke fighting until the final film of this trilogy. They can't give it all away in the first film.

I like the idea being thrown around in here that they take the first female lead in a Star Wars movie, get her involved in a love triangle and murder out of jealously. That sounds like it'll go over very well. Getting her into a relationship at all sounds pretty unnecessary, to be honest.

Also, having her murder an innocent / turn to the dark side in VIII and turn back to the light side in IX sounds simple enough to pull off. Sure.

getting a hand cut off was obviously part of Kylo's intention. Losing one will complete his Vader cosplay.

Also you have to think... if Kylo is bested by someone who has never used a lightsaber before and whose Force powers are just "awakening," Luke would cut him down with no effort. So you have to give time for the threat to grow so Luke isn't just like "lol bye"

I can't believe Kylo gets wrecked like that considering he's fairly advanced. Even Vader didn't do shit like stopping blaster bolts midair.

Well shit, I still hope that pastebin isn't real but it's becoming clear that it is.
Still don't like that his real name is Ben
(Yes I've seen ANH and Han thinks he's a weird old geezer that believes in this space magic bullshit,
Leia only sends him a message because she knows of him because her father told her stories, still seems weird to name your kids after him IMO).
But it's not a dealbreaker for me. Also only having Luke show up at the last minute is nothing new, so not bothersome either.
The only thing that seems weird is that Kylo is supposedly losing an arm....

Well nothing seemingly gets explained so we don't know. Ren should have still been able to clean her clock.

I just think it'd make a lot of sense for to have had some semblance of training, and Kylo underestimates her in the duel. Especially with how she starts using the Force, it seems like she has some understanding of what she can do.

Also gives more purpose to her mission than "I have to return this laser sword I randomly found to this random guy."

Can someone link to that pastebin again?

I feel like it made more sense for him holding back against her for whatever reason made a lot more sense than her just overpowering him.

I mean, we still don't know exactly what transpires during the fight. Is Kylo senses something in Rey which makes him conflicted for a second and lose his focus, she could potentially overpower her. For example if Rey is Luke's daughter, him realizing that she's also a descendant of Anakin might give him pause, or something.

here ya go;

That all sounds fine to me. I don't want laborious exposition. The "flashback" sounds more elegant than I feared. There's nothing lazier than "Here's a montage of everything that happened between the two movies." I'm glad that it's all vague and ambiguous.

Would be funny if that "sudden-turn-around-force-push-move" Kylo does in the teasers/trailers is him actually catching a laser blast in mid air (maybe Poe opened fire on him).

Would be extra funny considering the whole "He's not force sensitive" group of people...

I went to bed last night after watching the Fargo finale, so I last left the thread with the pastebin just having been dropped and you guys still feverishly reposting troll RTs from people you'd never heard of before.

Looks like, not having scanned the pages inbetween, you guys have resigned yourself to the truth of the pastebin, and are already getting your post-screening narratives lined up!

I like it. Efficient. Waste no time. Get those grooves laid down as fast as you can so you can leeeeeaaannn into em come Saturday, when the weekend warrioring really gets heated.

This is likely it exactly

ALSO: I kinda dig there are middling-to-shit reviews out there already. To quote Ms. Kanata: LET THEM IN. Don't fight them. Accept them as being valid views of a film you haven't seen yet. It can't hurt. Keep that mind open. Keep those expectations at bay. You'll likely treat the film a lot more FAIRLY the less baggage you haul up in that motherfucker with you.

Why? Being a strong, capable, complex, and independent woman doesn't mean you don't still want love.

I never agree with Faraci, but having read everything in these last 10 hours or so, this film has problems. I'm glad I tempered my expectations a long time ago.
