It was really good. Really felt like a labor of love, with the clear influence of Disney's helicopter parenting. It's a tight, generous, shiny movie. Yet - weirdly enough - Han Solo actually killed my suspension of disbelief for a damn long while. I get it, though - it was necessary. But the character is just too much. He's both a war hero in-universe and Harrison-Ford-the-star. He felt half-nostalgia machine, half-walking plot device. I swear it felt like watching an SLN skit, or a fan video at times. I actually felt relieved when Han died. "Phew, the trilogy is set in motion now and the new characters can breathe". But my frustrating mainly comes from the fact that the new characters can easily stand on their own. They really struck gold here. Rey, Finn and Poe are awesome.
In the end, it felt like a two-hour long introduction to something special. I really can't wait for what's coming next.
