Didn't Zuck say they would price it basically at cost so it can reach as many people as possible?

So the Rift parts are close to 599?

Wow that's more than I am willing and can spend on a 1 generation headset atm. Going to have to wait for a price drop or perhaps wait for the 2nd generation headets with eye tracking and improvements.
Don't even wanna think about what it's going to cost in Sweden, probably something closer to 699-799 USD.

This is in the price range I expected. This is new tech. Of course it's expensive. That's why you usually wait a few years for later generations.

Aren't Sony's 3-D HMD's $1000+ ? I'm assuming the OR and pretty much any VR headset has significantly more technology than those, so I'm not expecting anyone's offerings to be much cheaper.

Sony displays have always been massively overpriced. Especially those kinds of niche products. They've figured out people will pay for the name.

The video game market is completely different, as they painfully learned with PS3. I expect PS VR to be $400 or less.

I'm totally on the fence on this whole VR thing. I think the tech is exciting, but I'm just scared with the support. With Occulus being 600...I'm hoping PS VR is going to be a little more realistic for my wallet :<

Yea, that's way beyond my upper limit for this kind of tech. Guess I'll be waiting for a more reasonable price point and/or alternative.

My PC still has plenty of other upgrades I can throw at it in the meanwhile (like G-Sync).

I was getting "Something went wrong" both on the returning from PayPal authorization as well as the following screen... but I decided to F5 the confirmation page and it refreshed into a successful order # page. So if you do get that error on the "Agree and continue" page maybe try refreshing. I never got a confirmation e-mail for the order number they are showing me though so I dunno what the deal is.

I need some clarification.

So far my only vr experience is with my phone in a chineese vr headset.

Stupid question i know....

But how much better is this? Night and day? Or more or less the same just sharper and better fov?

740€ in France with the shipping fees (and without the VR controller or the PC upgrade of course). Just lol.

Better deal than PlayStation VR honestly; think about it.

Still, it will take time for these things to go down, a long time. First they need to get rid of the screen door effect to make them truly viable for all.

Two bad deals can have one better than the other, that doesn't mean the better one is a good deal.

You don't even know how much it'll cost. What are you even saying. Are you high.

Finally went trough, got the error a hundred times.

Curiously enough in my order payment it shows credit card details instead of Paypal, which is what I was using when it finally worked. Oh well!

It's crazy how I was willing to pay $450-499 at the most, and would have been absolutely disgusted with myself for paying that much - but Oculus coming in $100 north of that will make Sony releasing PSVR at my initially regret max price feel like a fucking bargain. All in the matter of a few hours.

I think I'll be picking one up in the summer after I graduate. I definitely want to be an early adopter, but I am not going to have that kind of money in March.

Not to mention I have to grab a new GFX card...

For some reason a lot of people were expecting affordable mainstream pricing right away as opposed to enthusiast pricing.

Which doesn't make any sense at all. No new technology comes out as 1. mainstream tech (literally anything announced at CES) and 2. affordable tech. It always takes time for new tech to find its legs and then really appeal to people before they can improve on it while also reducing cost. I think everyone is really just overreacting.

PSVR has DOAX3.

599€ is too much for me. I will wait for the second generation of devices for maybe 199-299€. I wouldn't pay more for a peripheral device. I also need to a lot of good games/apps for it or I won't consoder it at all.

Edit:

Oh wait...

It's 599$.

And 699€.

... What?

This is not how currency conversion from $ to € works. That's it. Fuck off.
