PSVR + PS4 will likely be much cheaper than OR + PC, hence the doom and gloom on Rift. The mainstream need to jump in too if this is going to be big.
There will also be 40 million PS4s in the hands of consumers by the time PSVR launches.

This is what I got as soon As I finished my order. So IDK.
Everyone praying for Sony to introduce affordable VR. Sony is gonna drop the 499 on us.
Let's say the PSVR will be $350 you still need a $350 PS4 to use it, so we are $700.00 before taxes. Yet you think "Sony, help us all" with that cost of entry it is not going to be niche as well?
You also have to remember, that the tech in the OC is far superior to the PSVR. The PSVR will be the "cheap/low end/entry level" VR experience in my opinion. While still "neat" it will not be near the level of performance of the OC in both quality and features/experience.
So ship date has moved from March to April to May in less than an hour??
Is the order volume driving this???
Do the first to order still get it in March????
Did people really expect a lower price?
Only two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port (for the game controller)
Anyone know what games and experiences are expected to launch alongside this? With it shipping in March it seems a bit strange to have not much info around what is coming out.
I am shocked...
That people are shocked that VR is expensive. Really, what did you all expect?
Thank you.175,000 DK2's sold, and I think DK1 was something like 60,000.

As I predicted in the previous thread.

European media reports that you have to pay customs (~20% import tax), too.
That means for Euro customers, Oculus costs ~888 EUR total, that's 955 USD.
Yes, I think people expected a lower price.
Mobile GPUs that use Optimus, not all of them.Laptops are not yet compatible with the rift. They have mentioned it several times that mobile GPUs are not compatible.
I did the test earlier and these were my resultsYou should be okay. How are you looking on 3D Mark? are you able to run most games at ultra settings at a locked 60 fps?
Did they ever release any shipment numbers for the development kits? What's the general ballpark? 10k? 100k?
Only two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port (for the game controller)
Video Card NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD R9 290 equivalent or greater
CPU Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater
Memory 8GB+ RAM
Video Output Compatible HDMI 1.3 video output
USB Ports 3x USB 3.0 ports plus 1x USB 2.0 port
OS Windows 7 SP1 64 bit or newer
So nothing like an iPad then.
I didn't see anywhere to register an account after ordering. Any way I can still register an account so I can see the purchase history?
There are already 36 million people, closer to 40 when it comes out, that has the ps4. How many people you think has a computer that can support the rift, and have 600 dollars lying around to buy it?
PS VR will still be niche, but it has every chance of being the device that breaks into the mainstream. Oculus need to convince casuals that the experience is worth 600 dollars, and after they do that they need to get lucky that these consumers have a computer that can run it.
For finantial success for now, plug annd play experience and lower price point trumps technical superiority any time of day.

3 USB 3.0 ports required. Ugh. That sucks. I would a lot of people that are still rolling with a sandy bridge era CPU are going to be shut out regardless of what GPU they have.
Most new tech don't see mass market adoption with its first iteration. It took years for there to be more HD TVs in American households than SD TVs. And that's a common electronic product.

Sony launch PS4 taking a small lost ,.
Also for Sony this is just like a console since they will be making money off licensing fees.
It's one of the advantages they have so they can play around more with price .
Sony sells PSVR people buy software for it , they make money off the software .
It's the same model they use for everything from PS1 to VITA .
How it sell going to play a part yes but it's the same model and no one know how big the VR market is right now.
Also they want to make it mass market it's in there interest for that to happen .

Same. I predicted 549.99 to 599.99 and was leaning heavily on 599.99. Not surprised or shocked to be honest. Still have not hit the order button however. I may a bit later today, not in a real hurry and don't need it day 1.
You get what you pay for with hardware.
Youre right! I expect the HTC set to be around 799 or more. That's still MORE adorable than $599. A win is a win.
I am shocked...

There is nothing more boring than reading post after post of people explaining how much the device is in their country's currency. Makes the thread a chore to wade through.
This is an enthusiast device so this amount seems pretty reasonable. If you already have a computer capable of using it, I doubt the entry fee will bother you.
