They say you can sometimes stave off death, just for a little while, when you need to get something done. I'm guessing that's what happened here.
 
I just found out. But as I said elsewhere, he must of been happy to release his album. Those battling with cancer, and dealing with slow death deals, often pass away after goals of theirs. Such as a holiday, or seeing a movie they wanted too. I'm guessing he held onto the will to live to release his album, and once he had accomplished this, probably went a lot more peacefully and accepting it.

RIP though, he's most certainly going to be remembered decades from now, he lived a good life, and my viewpoint is if you can have this many people touched by your actions, works, words, and miss you upon passing, you did something right in life.
 
What the...I've been listening to Blackstar on repeat and hoping he'd go on tour one last time.

This is devastating.

I'm just going to pretend this is fake so he can continue to live in my mind forever.

That's a great point. Think of how fortunate it was that he saw it release.

same here :(

i really just hoped he would do a small US tour at some point for this album so i could fulfill my dream of seeing him live. this is heartbreaking.
 
I only started listening to his songs last year when I heard them on the radio. I instantly fell in love.:( RIP, the world lost a musical genius today.

Shocked by this. His music is everywhere and it is always instantly recognisable whatever movies I hear them in. Was watching C.R.A.Z.Y. last night, and the main character in that was very inspired by Ziggy Stardust.

He lead an awesome life to inspire so many. RIP
 
Arguably one of, if not the most influential person in entertainment while he was alive. The "every game character looks like Bowie" thread, the cameos in movies, and the towering influence on the music industry. My favorite album is Station To Station. He was a God.

RIP.

I literally yelled this at my computer upon seeing the news. God, why couldn't it have been fake?!

No... :(

Rest in peace, Mr. Bowie, and thank you, thank you for your music which will live on forever.

I want to bury my feelings into ill-thought-out impulse purchases of physical media.
 
Having lost my father to cancer about 2 weeks ago, this news fucking sucks. Cancer sucks.
Really saddened by this :( RIP David Bowie.
