Suicide Squad Official Trailer

I've noticed they try and hedge their bets with trailers these days. They're not content to sell one tone for the film, they have to try and sell it multiple ways. Didn't like the serious, creepy vibe of the first trailer? Here's a trailer that makes the film look more light-hearted and fun. Maybe you'll want to go see it now.

They're trying to please everyone but the end result is you no idea what the tone of the film actually is. Or maybe the film has no real tone because all these blockbusters now try and be all things to all people. Or maybe it has a tone but the trailers can be cut up in anyway to fool you into thinking it has a tone the film itself doesn't actually have.

Either way, it makes it hard to be excited because you don't know how much you're being manipulated.

The first one wasn't even an actual trailer. It was a highlight reel/teaser for Comic-Con, that only released officially because it was leaked

This is the first trailer showing the tone of the movie

Sounds like you're just making things more confusing for yourself. The colorful posters and style of this trailer, make the tone of this movie pretty clear

So it's my fault for judging the film based on the first preview they released? That thing got 60 million views. It pretty clearly was for all intents and purposes, a trailer.

Hey, the whole Agent Venom thing is cool as shit. It's just the fandom around Carnage that kinda irks me. The character is, and always has been, terrible.

It's partly nostalgia but I think the idea for Carnage is sound. I think it's ripe for an adaption that takes liberties and improves upon the original material.

lol but that's my point - the character isn't worth it. He's everything lame about 90's edginess wrapped into a single character.

Venom actually has something interesting to him. He's a sentient plot device that later represents Peter's worst qualities. Fusing that onto a bitter rival and amoral mirror of Peter, or onto his childhood bully who ironically idolizes him as Spider-Man whilst also growing as a person, that's pretty great.

Carnage is literally just "Man, he's just this extreme killer. Cassidy is like so inhuman, he's just this fucking hardcore monster, man!" Like.. come on.

Trailer looked really fun and doesn't look like it's going to take itself too seriously, which in context seems spot on. Looking forward to this. Also, plus points for Bohemian Rhapsody.

I think this looks much better than man of steel based on what we've seen so far. I really like the visual style and I'm looking forward to Leto's interpretation of the joker. I don't think the music was a great fit for the trailer though.

Not feeling Jared Leto as Joker
Kind of feeling Will Smith as Deadshot
Really feeling Margot Robbie as Harley

I wish hoddam

I was really not interested in the film, but that trailer swayed me to at least a rental. It looks more fun than I thought it would.

The trailer looks good and I think David Ayer is decent filmmaker but the movie looks like it will be too busy. Too many characters. Too many powers. Too X-men:Last Stand.

Huh. I liked that more than I thought I would. I'm afraid Will Smith will give a bland performance, but the rest of the cast should be entertaining enough to carry the film.

I kinda of agree but also disagree a little. The tone of this trailer was definitely a lot less serious -- more dark comedy -- than the first. And that font and subtitle: "Worst Heroes Ever" was pretty cheesy. But the scenes were still great. Loved the trailer for what it was. Not sure if their intention is as you suggest, but I did have a couple of issues with it. Loved the tone of the first one, but the action of this one got me psyched as well.

I really like Leto's physicality as the Joker. I'm not such a big fan of the face but I'm digging the way he moves as the character.

Suicide Squad is aping nothing from GotG. it came first, the concept of misfits coming together is not new at all, GotG is not the end-all be-all of team-up movies.

Thanks, I'm aware of Suicide Squad, the comic, already. Stop with the auto-defense, I wasn't even insulting the film or saying it was a bad thing. GOTG, the film, predates Suicide Squad, the film, by two years release date to release date. If you think the success of that film has had absolutely zero effect on the marketing for this one, you're being naive, and in a weird way.
There's nothing wrong with aping from a successful recent formula.

There was absolutely no guarantee Suicide Squad was going to be comedic. Hell, it still might not be, we haven't seen the final film and trailers can be deceptive. The first teaser for the film was a lot more serious, and there was absolutely a serious way they could have done this film if they wanted to. The final film may very well be nothing like GOTG, but this particular trailer, complete with classic rock song, absolutely is.

Regardless, I was not even being negative about the film.

Carnage / Venom movie would also need major $$$ for effects (well, new Tarzan got 180 Mill. $ budget...). The extreme symbiont outgrowth/changes they both have would look stupid if not made really well.

It was really only released because it was leaked out of Comic Con and WB didn't want shitty looking footage to represent their movie. That trailer was specifically cut for Comic Con and not a mass audience.

Also, I don't exactly see the problem with marketers using trailers to give people different looks at the same movie? It's not going to be ALL drama or ALL comedy, so why should the trailers fixate on just one tone?

I was always reserved with Jared Leto's initial pictures of the Joker, I never like the promo material fro Health Ledgers Joker.

But damn, he is a good actor but the trailer he looks so amazing. I hope he is as good in the rest of his scenes.

So far I don't think there has been a poor Joker from the batman films I have seen.

Lmao...what kind of conspiracy theory tinfoil hat response is this? It's a freaking comic book movie. It's not that deep.

Are you replying to my post? What I'm describing is manipulative marketing and trailers that can often have little relation to the movie itself. See some of the Man of Steel trailers for example.

If you think that's a conspiracy theory, then you don't know much about marketing.
