Daniel Bryan has retired.

That's a shame, but it's for the best for him. I'm glad he's accepted it and hopefully he can stick around in a non-wrestling role.

Damn, sucks to hear all around. Wonder if he'll stick around the wrestling industry, in some capacity, such as a trainer with the WWE or another organization. Dude certainly has a lot to offer still and it'll be a shame to see him move away completely.

That blows if it's true.

We'll know for sure by how somber Raw is. If they give him the Edge treatment it's probably legit

That is horrible to hear. I hope the WWE keeps him around. I think I would like to see him on commentary with a charismatic heel like Xavier Woods (or anyone from New Day). I could see a modern day Monsoon/Heenan dynamic working out.

We've heard this before, though...

Vince was never going to let him return to wrestle as long as they were trying to get Reigns over as top face. Funny that Orton can continually come back with all the concussions that guy has had.

I'm being 100% sincere when I say that Bryan Danielson/Daniel Bryan is one of my favorite wrestlers to watch...ever. He's one of the all-time greats alongside Eddie Guerrero & Ric Flair imo. Thank you, Bryan.

Yes yes yes!
Gimmick posts like these are why WrassleGAF got nuked.

Why risk your health even if it's for something you love? Great decision for Bryan even if it's the one he never wanted to make. It sucks but this is for the best.

I guess this means that the rumors that he was fine medically-wise, and that WWE for some reason wouldn't clear him are false. But still, this sucks. He was one of my favorites, but I understand completely that he has to retire if this is an Edge-like scenario and he has no other choice to keep his health in check.

My only guess is that he announced it on Twitter first, because they might not want people getting overly-excited when his theme song hits tonight. I can't see this being a work.

No...I'm crying now, but I completely understand after last year. Daniel Bryan got me back to WWE in 2013 and I watched so many of his fantastic matches from before he joined the company and while he was working for them, 2010-2015. I had gotten fed up in 2009 after Cena. The man will always be my favorite wrestler and Wrestlemania 30 will always be a highlight. That was such an amazing and fun night. Love you Bryan. Stay healthy.

BRYAN MARK FOREVER.

What the heck is going on. Seems a higher number than average workers in the company are headed to Seattle? You got D-Bry cutting his hair and the contract rumor and now this?

I almost never do this but I am leaning toward work.
Why cut his hair and get all up if he is going to just announce retirement?
I think he may come out to announce it, but someone or something may cross it up.

This is fucking bullshit. WWE Trying to keep him down because they know if he comes back their golden boy Reigns would have no chance.

Love D.Bry but good, heal up and focus on other things. Shawn came back 6 years after his career was 'ended' and had his best run, so you never know.

End of an era. This might be one of the most heart breaking stories in wrestling. A guy who literally was the best in the world - an innovator- and someone who completely broke all notions of what and who should be world champion. Fell victim to the sport and his own health.

Today we lost someone truly special :(.

It's time for Bryan to take a full on job at the Performance Center and get some of these guys and average joes up to snuff. His wrestling passion and ability can be used to infuse new talents into a more unpredictable and entertaining product.
