The amusing thing, is that this is the second time this sort of thing happened in terms of old vs new for this series. When FE7 came over to western shores there was a pretty large large ruckus over how it was a downgrade from the the skills, leadership stars and stat changing items from the SNES era.

It's sort of nostalgic I guess, and reminds me I was a bit of a prick to newcomers once.

One of these days I need to import 4, 5, and 6. I'd probably like those. Maybe once Int Sys loses me with the new games, at least I'll have a little ways to go backwards with the franchise.

Or Nintendo needs to localize them and put them on the VC, that would be ideal. Maybe the series is getting popular enough for that to be realistic.

"Worse" is subjective. I'm more impressed by their honesty and artistic integrity. Nintendo would never be brave enough to let Fire Emblem fully ascend to those levels of unfettered expression.

Don't forget the cartoony graphics and battle animations! I also don't recall seven getting that much hate, but man six took so much shit when it was released.

I really regret those times because 6 is a great game. It's deeply flawed in some ways, but I have more fun with that game than with Thracia honestly.

Frankly, i think that removing facepetting and leaving in blowing into the microphone and ASS AND TITTIES shots and sisterfuckin' is entirely ridiculous, but whatever. Removing all of those things takes a lot more work, I guess.

I really regret those times because 6 is a great game. It's deeply flawed in some ways, but I have more fun with that game than with Thracia honestly.

I'm really loving watching dondons playtrough of zero growth Thracia. He just did the infamous prison escape chapter.

Six's biggest issue is that the story was too close to the origiñals.

Which Prison escape? Ch. 4, 4x or 5? 4x and 5 can go die in a fire, terrible chapters and the primary reason I don't like replaying Thracia.

-one of your sisters is still lewd as shit and has a short cutscene to show off her ass and titties, but i guess it's skippable

At least on GAF, I'm not sure there was much discussion pre-Awakening in the first place. IIRC Shadow Dragon was the only English released I was on GAF for, and I'm not sure the OT broke 500 posts. And that was when OTs included weeks worth of pre-release posts.

Maybe I can just be glad I enjoyed FE7 through RD without any intervention from the Internet.

Thanks for clarifying. I'll definitely be buying it as I thoroughly enjoyed Awakening, but it's still pretty depressing what they're doing with the franchise (even if it's side stuff). I wish someone would make a strategy RPG in the vein of FFT/Ogre Battle with a mature war-themed/political story again so I can wash the embarrassment of animu waifus off.

It's hilarious that the face rubbing mini-game is the only part of the game that people want to talk about.

Fire Emblem has become almost unrecognizable to me since Awakening. No one seems to care about what made the series so great anymore. People only care about waifus.

In the past few weeks, we've had multiple threads about this pointless face rubbing feature, but maybe one thread discussing the rest of the game.

What's hilarious is that by all accounts the waifus are what saved the FE franchise, it was on the verge of being shelved for good if Awakening had not sold well.

You should be thankful for the waifus because you wouldn't have any more FE games to play otherwise.

But do you have a line you draw at videogame content or not? If you do, your statement that complaining about videogame content is hysterical is incorrect. You should respect people who don't want this feature, optional or not, in games they might otherwise enjoy.

I do have a line but I don't go off on internet boards and complain about it. I just choose not to buy that game and go play/buy something else. So yes I do find it hysterical that people go online to complain about something that does not endanger their lives in any shape or form. I don't see how you can't get that through your head. Perhaps I wasn't making myself clear. Also, if people do like features like human petting, great for them. Leave them be, and go off enjoying something you feel comfortable with.

The day rubbing people's faces in video games, or any other weird features in other games like the DoAx series (which has been around for over a decade), equates to real world crime and other harmful behavior is the day I'll change my stance. As of now, it's just video games. Again, I don't care for this feature, I just find this whole situation funny.

In the patch, Leif says “I can’t do that! When I escape, so does everyone else!”. This was apparently a bad translation, since the original line was meant to imply Leif should be the last to escape. Something more like "I won't escape until everyone else does!"
